The Positive Reaction Thread

The paris scene is arguably the best action scene of the summer so far (others like Transformers' forest showdown and the attack on the Kevlin and drill fights in Star Trek)

The underwater sea battle is excellent, and looks like it came straight out of the comics/cartoon.

Everything is very stylized, but rather than go for a "realistic" approach, the directors clearly wanted to bring the cartoon to life and you can see it in the film. They did a great job.

The doctor was easily the best part of the film for me.

The Docter was awesome. I could tell tht JGL was channeling some Chris Latta, except this this version sounded like Cobra Commander if his balls had dropped. He was a very spooky, evil character, and I loved it. His character more than made up for the fact that he wasn't wearing the classic mask IMHO.

Although in a sequel, it'd be nice if we got a chance to see him wearing the classic hood. We'll see.

Can someone please clear something up for me? I keep on hearing that both Joseph Gordon Levitt and Kevin J O'Connor play the doctor. Are they both playing the same character or does one do the voice and the other just wears the costume like Darth vader?

O'Connor is Dr. Mindbender.

They are two different characters. JGL plays "The Doctor," and KJOC playes Dr. Mindbender.

Kevin is Dr. Mindbender. JGL is the Doctor inspired by mindbender to be um a dr.

What were all of your impressions of Dr. Mindbender? Does he do anything significant with his screentime? Does he respect Cobra Commander unlike the cartoon.

Also, what does Cobra Commanders voice sound like.

Mindbender more or less appears as a cameo, although he is pretty spot on to the original character in terms of appearance. In terms of his relationship with Cobra Commander, [blackout]he was formerly Cobra Commander's mentor/partner[/spoiler], although it's kept as a mystery what happened to him.

As for Cobra Commander / The Doctor's voice, it's different from the cartoon, and yet similar. It's like if you took Chris Latta's Cobra Commander voice and dropped it an octave or two. It's still got that classic raspy sound with the lingering "ssssss" for the S-sounds, except it's not high pitched and whiny sounding. When he puts on his "Commander" helmet, his voice drops another octave.

Personally, I liked his "Doctor" voice better than his "Commander" voice, so I'm hoping that in the sequel if he changes helmets/masks again they go back to using the "Doctor" voice. They're basically the same voice except the Commander one is deeper, though the Doctor voice was featured more prominently.

nah Mindbender just looks like a regular old doctor, some dude with glasses and a labcoat. Mindbender from the cartoons was bald, had a ridiculous mustache, outfit and a monocle.

It was better than what I was expecting. Could've been a lot better but it was a fun movie.

Agreed here with the voice. I LOVED his voice as The Doctor. CC's voice was too much for me. Too deep. It sounded like a slo mo voice. Especially that cheesy laugh. Like you said, if they switch helmets, it should be modified and should be similar to The Doctor's voice. And yeah, I really dug The Doctor.

Anyone else feel the urge to laugh when
CC and Destro were in the Pit
and they were holding their hands near their crotches? :hehe:

I haven't seen the movie yet (going on monday when there will be no *****bags talking on cellphones, baybies crying, etc etc) But I did watch a few scenes on a bootleg online.

I'm just gonna say this here a now: Cobra Commander....was.....F***ING AWESOME. Seriously, his mask was bad-ass as hell, his voice sounded so fricking cool, and I got goosebumbs when he said "It is time for the COBRA to rise. You will call me....COMMANDER." And The Doctor was a incredibly cool character. I can't wait to see this in theaters on Monday. I might be the only person on the earth who loved CC's mask, voice, and everything else.

somewhat enjoyed the movie, but i thought the cobra commander voice sounded alot like the shredder from the turtles movie, especially in the end.

I felt the urge to punch something. Couldnt they have just gotten away?

Yes, because it's smart to escape the pit with every joe in it.

Most likely they have a plan that will come to fruition in the sequel.

They already have someone on the inside, as the last scene shows. They're pretty much in charge, and the Joe team don't even know it.

Yup. Zartan will probably order them to be released. But it should be more than that. It shouldn't be a balls out escape battle. It should just be a dead lock eye contact between enemies when they leave.

Yeah, I'd rather see this than a big escape battle. Have Prez Zartan "transfer" them or something, and an angry Duke just has to stand there while they giggle at him on their way out the door.

my sister (who is an Assist. Manager at a theater near my moms house) had 2 sold out showings yesterday and 1 already today
