I wonder how the " too PC " crowd would react to this guy in the show.

It was the best marvel show on Netflix for me.
Micro was awesome character, I loved his banter with Frank.
Madani was likeable, I didn't have any problem with her.
Billy was a cool villain, Fisk is still better though.
I liked the subplot with Lewis, the actor was good.
Karen was great in this too, and I am glad Curtis lived.

Yeah, I definitely caught alot of the Year One-vibe.

I've also been thinking of the possibility the appearance of other villains like:

Col. Kliegg

Saracen

Hitman/Burt Kenyon(I don't know if he might with Sony since he was introduced in a Spider-Man title)

...and this one I don't know if he would work in this grounded world of Frank Castle(maybe if Punisher were to guest-star in Agents of SHIELD and have Bushwacker as a villain there), but who knows...

Bushwacker

Hate Monger, Hitman and Sarecen are the best of the ones you listed. Other villains who I can picture appearing are Rosalie Carbone and Nicky Cavela.

I also like General Kriegkopf a lot but Army of One will never be adapted since we'd need a tropical island setting and even though Disney owns a lot in Hawaii, the Defenders shows are required to shoot in New York and there's no part of the state of New York which resembles a tropical island.

And my personal favorite Punisher story is Streets of Laredo. It will also never happen since the villain is named Rachel and Rachel Alves is a far more important character to the Punisher series and the two of them can easily get mixed up. There's also the fact that it takes place in Arizona and there isn't a part of New York that I know if which can substitute for a desert.

IMO, Punisher needs more grounded villains than Bushwhacker, Hellsgaard and The Russian. Save Bushwhacker for Daredevil. The least grounded Punisher villain who would fit on the show is Thorn.

Finished watching it tonight. Thought it was very good. No major problems with any characters, although maybe Agent Madani was in it a little too much.

Ben Barnes was great as Billy Russo and I look forward to seeing how they make him look like the comic book Jigsaw. Glad Curtis got to live too.

the first 7 episodes felt like a different show compared to the last six episodes. The last six were just amazing and imo are the best episodes these Marvel/Netflix shows have produced...The Punisher I know and love finally began to appear and it was so worth it.

You didn't like Episode 5?

Army of One and Streets of Laredo I've yet to read. Yeah, I don't know if Coney Island could work as stand in in for Hawaii.

Yep.

One character who I think could be fit in for the show is G.W. Bridge. Maybe in 3rd season if not second.

Am I the only one hugely bothered that both major villains were named William R.? And then they threw a Wilson in there too? Such a silly move imo.

I honestly didn't even think about that until just now, can't say I'm bothered by it though.

They pretty much touched on everyone of Frank's mental and emotional states from the comics.

His guilt over his families death
His guilt over liking being at war almost as much as he liked being with his family.
His suicidal thoughts.
His PTSD from his families death and war experiences.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lynn Michaels in the next season. A pro-Punisher cop would be a nice change of pace.

Up to episode 11. Disappointed so far.

Finished it last night. It was pretty good.

Bernthal I think gives the best performance of any of the Netflix lead heroes. Micro was pretty good. Acting across the board was really good. Madani was the weakest character. The writers gave her no personality except "She's driven" which just makes for a boring character. Also that thing of her getting shot in the head at the end was really dumb

I think the main problem is the story. I just didn't care much about the whole gov't, military thing. I would've much rather seen Frank vs the mob. That could've been my fault, I went into this blind and maybe they gave it away in the trailers. But then, I thought all the veteran stuff was really good. The whole Lewis story was great. It would've been much better to me if they had Lewis or a Lewis type character(s) be the main bad guy.

I'm also kinda getting tired of the flashbacks in all these shows. I just don't find them that interesting anymore other than that 1 this season of Punisher with Frank's platoon pinned down

I walked away from this thinking it's good, but something was missing. I don't know what, but yeah

So- while I agree that the show's first season definitely has it's flaws, being a slower burn than perhaps any of the Netflix shows (while I loved the whole show, I felt it only reached amazing levels at around episode 9), I can't help but notice that at least a few reviewers- such as the one from the Radio Times- insert their own musings on how it relates to gun culture, given the social climate of today here in America. While I wouldn't say the show itself is "too PC", I would agree that this is a significant, if not pertinent, challenge that the show will need to overcome in its inevitable second season. The question is, though, how, if at all, are the people behind the show supposed to accomplish this, while still retaining the essence of the character's identity? How can the creators mold the show into something that is more appreciated by fans and critics alike? What must the show look like to achieve wider appeal?

Oh yeah and do Frank and Karen wanna get it on now? In DDS2 it came off more as a friendship to me but here it seemed to play up the romantic angle which I'm just not a fan of

Just finished the series and I loved it. This is up there with Daredevil and the Defenders as my favorite Netflix series.

Curious, why?

He becomes The Punisher at the end of Daredevil, then they basically reset the character in the first episode. As mentioned above, the flashbacks are becoming tedious, and so is waiting until the finale for characters to become their alter egos.

I thought it was decent, and well acted, but I came away underwhelmed.

This pretty much echoes exactly how I felt...Overall I enjoyed it but I wanted something more along the lines of the comics where Frank goes after the Gnuccci's or someone like Nicky Cavella, i guess I got my taste of that already in DD S2...The early parts of the season felt more like an Action/Crime Thriller featuring the Punisher, but I did feel like the last 6 episodes were the best episodes Marvel/Netflix has ever made and were very satisfying to me as a Punisher fan.

This is my favorite of the Netflix shows, with all the other shows I thought there were some episodes that suffered from trying to fill out the 13 episodes, where as this mostly kept moving and I didn't lose interest much except for the parts about Micro's family. Just didn't feel like that was necessary or added much, I guess it gave Frank/Micro a reason to go into detail about their backstories/lives in the scene following the kiss, the kiss being the worst moment in the show because it was telegraphed and just dumb soap opera stuff but it did set up a good back and fourth scene with Frank/Micro. One thing I am glad about is that they didn't turn Micro into a super nerd/comedy relief character like alot of these shows do with computer sidekicks, he was a real person not an extremely annoying dork (like Cisco, Felicity, Ned, Curtis, Chloe etc. of other superhero shows/movies, who are incredibly annoying characters). Micro was good, I'm glad they didn't go that route, though I guess with the more serious tone of these Netflix shows I shouldn't have worried about them going with that.

I liked both Russo and Rawlins. I thought Barnes did a good job playing the double life aspect. Schulze was very good as well. Bernthal was great overall, I'm one of the few people that thought his performance in The Walking Dead was actually pretty bad acting so I wasn't thrilled with his casting at first (though I definitely understood why he was chosen), but maybe I just didn't like how he played that particular character, because I thought he was good in Fury and has been very good as Punisher in DD and this.

I agree that another kind of weak point was the Madani character but it wasn't enough to bother me, just nothing special. I also agree that her getting shot in the last episode was random, contrived and pointless.

Overall definitely a really good season, I didn't feel like they nerfed the violence or gun play to shy away from the PC culture, this is definitely one of the most violent shows I've ever seen, maybe not as crazy as some of the comics but I thought they went pretty far, I wasn't expecting it to go as far as it did actually.

I thought the pacing was pretty good, never really got bored outside of a few minutes here and there in some episodes and the final wasn't super anti-climatic like most of these superhero movies/shows have been lately. I thought the last fight with Frank/Russo was very good and I'm interested in where they go with the Jigsaw side of this rivalry.

They definitely seemed to hint at a stronger connection here. He kisses her on the cheek once. I thought they were going to kiss after he saved her from Lewis. Instead they just touched foreheads.

yeah that's the moment when I was really

That would ruin the character for me, which is ashame because this version of Punisher is now my favorite character in the MCU...don't mean to be a debbie downer but like someone said earlier, Frank doesn't do female attachments. If the writers do put them together it's only for fanservice to the shippers or whatever you call them.

finished the binge watch and where is kingpin? Why isn't he out of jail yet? Also like the jigsaw setup for season 2
