The Dark Knight The Real Hero Of Tdk Is Christohper Nolan (appreciation Thread)

I haven't seen TDK yet, but I've always felt Nolan is a genius--ever since one of my friends let me borrow the Following and Memento DVDs back in the day. I was amazed by the mastery of both those films on so many levels. I knew when he began helming the Batman franchise, good things would happen. I just know that TDK won't disappoint!!

By looking at the critical reviews thus far, I can at least thank Nolan for making a movie about Batman that has to be taken seriously.

Nolan I appreciate all of your work, I thank you for doing what you have done to all of our beloved batman characters!

Nolan is, without a doubt, the greatest director working today and will one day be regarded alongside Kubrick as one of the greatest directors of all time.

End of story.

It great to have a thread about praising Nolan with what he did to the Batman franchise. I'm glad WB did the right thing & hired him on the spot with how the franchise from him doing so far. :)

Wow. Really a weak show of support and appreciation of the man who just gave us the greatest Batman movie and superhero movie of all time.

Christopher Nolan is one of my top 3 favorite directors. Put that man behind a camera and cinematic holiness ensues. The man is a living legend.
I love Christopher Nolan.

Nolan wow'd me with his skills for TDK like he did for BB...I cant tell ya how much I appreciate what he did to fill my expectations for TDK

Bout time somebody shut those F***ing Burton fanboys up.

Posh, go crawl in a hole. I'm a huge Tim Burton fan, he's probably my favorite director along with Spielberg. And I'll also be the first to say that Christopher Nolan is a fantastic director who really comes with a great vision. He handles Batman well and Memento is a modern classic.

I have to say too, WB and DC definitely owe it to Christopher Nolan on their success for Dark Knight. I instantly became a follower of Nolan's work since Memento. Insomnia was also a really excellent, low key film. I've still yet to see his first film, The Following. I had my doubts of Batman Begins but after seeing it, and realizing Nolan's gift, I felt like I should kick myself in the head for doubting it. But, then again, I was still recovering from the Batnipples.

I think The Prestige took Nolan to a whole different level. He's definitely shown that he's matured as a filmmaker and he now ranks as one of my top five favorite directors of all time (Next to Kubrick, Kurosawa, Mann, and Aronofsky). I think the DK will solidify his place in the top 3!

I seriously would love for him to be recognized for this by having an Oscar nod. He treats film with the respect and care of a passionate artist. Not just generic summer entertainment. And, the so-called professional journalists who think this is unfounded, well, kiss my a**!

For my senior honours dissertation in my Film & TV Studies University course, I wrote about auteur theory, with Christopher Nolan as my case study. Even before you include the Batman films, he should be considered one of the best directors working today. He's yet to make a bad movie. But yes, the excellent job he has done adapting the Batman mythos to the screen (and yes, rehabilitating it after the "Batman & Robin" travesty) and for that we owe him a whole lot of gratitude.

nolan is the new speilberg - nuff sed

EDIT: actually i can see how this would be misinterpretted, i mean Speilberg is one of the few directors that reach box office success with his balance of somber character pieces and big summer blockbusters. Nolan seems to follow suit.

In terms of visual flair and cinematic intelligence, Nolan is more like Kubrick.

Thanks again Nolan for giving us the greatest comic book movie adaptation of all time!

Wow. Really a weak show of support and appreciation of the man who just gave us the greatest Batman movie and superhero movie of all time.
I am here to appreciate!

Special mention for his bro. too.

Accordingly to IMDb it's his birthday today so - Happy Birthday.

Proof of what happens when directors rightly concerned with characters and mood first are given free rein to play in the action arena. You get a movie (whilst not completely flawless) that transcends it's comic-book/blockbuster origins.

Nolan indeed is a truly intelligent filmmaker.

I very much appreciate Christopher Nolan, thumbs up to this!

To Chris Nolan the guy who ressurected Batman!!
The guy who casted Christian Bale!!
The guy who casted Heath Ledger!!
The guy who casted Aaron Eckhart!!
The guy who had the integrity to keep the whole movie intact and not erase a single scene because of pressure.
The guy who made justice to the whole Batman mythos like it trully deserves.

Here's to Chris for doing an amazing job!

You know, I think the real hero of TDK is Jonah Nolan.

I enjoyed all of his movies so far, but TDK may be his most daring work since Memento... He just took all the unwritten rules of blockbuster movies and tossed them out the window, compared to what he did almost all big releases of the year seem almost bland, and I say this as someone loved Iron Man and Wall-E and had fun with Indy IV and TIH.

GUYS!! GIRLS!!! Grab your friends, family, pets, etc. AND GO SEE TDK TONIGHT!!!! According to Box Office Estimates, TDK just barely edged out The Mummy. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/ See TDK tonight with a bunch of people to secure the win! "I'm counting on it."

Nolan directed the s*** out of TDK! end.
