Comics The Real Possibility of MJ... *spoilers*

Daredevil's really the best book Marvel has out right now...well, next to Punisher MAX, anyways...

I tend to flip back and forth as to which is best....I thought the ending of Baraccuda was slightly weak and I had no idea what was going on in the first ish of "The Man of Stone.."...got the second ish yesterday....no chance to read it yet.

1)Isn't Kane also kind of on the decased list, just like Reily?
2)I think the clone saga has messed up Spider-Man books enough. Even without the clone saga, Marvel has managed to ruin Spider-Man. Do they really need to reintroduce elements that contributed to the ruining of the book, to a book that is already on a downward slide? That seems beyond counter productive. Besides...I don't recall Kane having the spider powers. Just that offshoot, face scarring thing.

1) Correct as to Ben Reilly. He isn't even worm-food....he's dust. He was impaled by a goblin glider, dropped 30 stories, and then disintegrated into dust. He can't get any more dead unless Dr. Strange finds his soul and destroys it. Kaine is still alive, although no one is willing to touch him with a 40 foot pole...

2) Yes...the Clone Saga ruined everything to the point that anything new and different was allowed...and here we are. As fro Kaine's powers, he is a flawed clone of Peter Parker, and he has all of Peter's spider-powers, only grossly and painfully enhanced.

Spider-sense-He can see into the actual future.

Yeah...Barracuda ended on a low point...probably because the Punisher was barely in it. As for "Man of Stone", I haven't read part 2 yet, but I've learned after "Kitchen Irish", that the slow build-up in Punisher is usually topped-off by a killer climax. I don't see how Garth Ennis manages to keeep coming up with such memorable characters only to kill them off. He's got skills.

I will only drop the Spiderman titles if MJ dies in a unreasonable way and for no good reason. If she dies during civilwar then the above applies.
But my moneys on Aunt May dying during CW. I just have a feeling it would be done for shock value, and her character isn't important enough to keep around.

The team of Ennis/Fernandez (sp?) has been Pun MAX's best.
So it's good to see them back on now, it's also cool to see Pun MAX coming out like, every two weeks right now. Along w/ SSM they are my fav Marvel books.

I really think they are going to have Peter and MJ do a divorce for her protection in the public eye or something to that effect. spidey will be on the run from Civil War and he won't take MJ with him but I guarantee by next summer - Spidey and MJ will be back together in time for Spiderman 3. There is no way they will have their biggest movie out there developing their relationship further and then have you pick up the comic and not have MJ there. I agree with you all that Joe Q is all about sales (although I don't hate him at all) and I think that he has this all in mind to boost sales with MJ and Peter getting back together while they are getting together in Spiderman 3 at the same time.

Just like they forgot about Gwen right.....if Marvel and Joey Q do this...I am offically dropping Marvel.
People didn't just forget about Gwen. She was killed off thirty years ago and we still argue about how she would have reacted to Peter being Spider-man. MJ has grown into more then Gwen ever was. I really liked Gwen, but face it tiger, it's always been MJ.

Hey...If Collossus can come back, anyone can.

Isn't it GREAT!!! How can someone hate this?! How?!?!

Clone Saga wasn't a bad story in retrospect. Everyone just loves to hate it and half of them don't even know the details cause they've never read it. It symbolizes a failure in Marvel's leadership and direction in regards to Spidey that hasn't been washed out of people's memories which is why most people remember hating it, without rememering plot. In many people's opinions, there were a lot more good stories and characters than bad ones. There is no other story or character (reilly) that I can think of off the top of my head that has so many fans constantly clamoring for a return. No respect.

P.S. Punisher MAX is awesome.

P.S.S. MJ is so dead. Peter will have no friends after CW. He'll be a widow. Oh....wait....I got it! Let's just have Peter never think about it! That never pisses anyone off! :cmad: Baby What? Ben Who?

The clone saga was bad, not because it didn't do good things, but because it was utterly convoluted. I'll name the best things to come from the clone saga

-Scarlet Spider
-Kaine
-Judas Traveller (I don't remember reading him before then)

Otherwise, we got Peter in jail for murders that Kaine commited. Green Goblin back from the dead. Gwen Stacy clone. Uhh lets see...oh yeah, Ben as the one true Spider-Man, until Marvel saw discovered that that s*** wouldn't fly. Hmm oh yeah, cyborg/nanobot scarlet spider (i'm sure most folks don't remember this, but it pissed me off when I was a kid). The list goes on. It was just bad writing in general, with light sprinkles of goodness. I mean the debacle lasted nearly three years. Odds were, they had to have at least a couple good issues while that was happening.

True...but no one of "Joss Whedon caliber" is writing the current Spidey-books, and I'd hate to see ho wthey explained that one...

My honest opinion on the Clone Saga is that it went on too long, and it brought Norman Osborn back from the dead....when there was no reason to do so. Kaine's powers weren't the issue. My only problem was that the storyline went on for three years or so, and it was so crazy that it pretty much got redundant after awhile.

Honestly, the only reason it doesn't seem so crappy to me lately is because everything else to happen recently (unmasking, Sins Past, the Other, Sidekick-suit, Tony's Lackey, etc..) makes the Cloen Saga look less crappy by comparison. Really....at least Spidey was still in character for the Clone Saga....I don't recall him eating anyone's head or anything.

Well, let's not forget wife-beater Spidey... :o

When the hell did Peter ever beat up Mary Jane? I remember when Scarlet Spider took his mask off and Mary Jane slapped him (for looking like Peter). It was the issue where peter was in jail for having his dna found at murder scenes (because of Kain). The issue had this real cool thick paper cover that was designed to look like jail bars. You opened it up, and Peter was clinging to the wall, in his prison garments. But yeah...that's the closest i've ever seen, to domestic abuse, in the Parker household.

Accidentally hit her, like "I was angry, I didn't mean to react like that" or "I was wildly thrashing and you crossed my path, the hit was unintentional and not a knee jerk reaction." ?

Marvel was trying to make Peter an unlikeable character so that fans would actually favor Ben as the new Spidey. Another issue later on had Peter chasing down MJ all over the city trying to kill her (he had a post-hypnotic suggestion planted by the Jackal or some stupid crap...). Ben had to stop him and save the day.

I'd prefer not be reminded of Sins Past, even though I've never had much use for Gwen.:whatever:

I never did get al the way through the clone saga...so I never saw that part. I kind of stopped following thing once Peter was put in jail. I started following again when I noticed the spidey costume (the s****y Ben design. Sorry...i hated it then..I don't like it now. Except when May wearst. But I consider it more her costume now, than Bens. But as a Spider-Man costume...I don't like it). Then I stopped reading, when they introduced nanobot/cyborg Scarlet Spider. I was briefly reading again when they had Urich Green Goblin....and that was prtty much my last Spidey experince for a good long while.
