Capcom The Resident Evil Thread

in some ways I can see the influence of Outbreak in the later co-op titles, RE5 and RE6. The controls are much more refined by 6. I could go for using that as a template for Outbreak. Go back to the core of having multiple playable normal characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses thrown into different scenarios. Loading times were a detriment for the first game but that should be improved now and we also have voice chat, so communication should be easier.

I wish they'd give ORC another go. Had it played like RE5, and with the same polish, it could have been a great game. Enjoyed the campaign, despite its flaws, but it could have been so, so much better.

I would actually say Zero is probably a closer predecessor to the co-op titles than Outbreak was. The co-op in that game functions a lot closer to what we saw in 5 and 6 than Outbreak.

That's probably my favorite "worst game" that I own. I loved it despite it being a poorly made game. I loved the premise. Wish it would get added to Microsofts backwards compatibility list, I'd play it again.

It'll sell, and it's rife for microtransitions, so it's not baffling. It may not be for you, or me, or most posting here, but there's an audience out there for it. If ORC can reach the levels it did, this will at least do decently.

There's no way Capcom was going to invest in a brand new Outbreak game, at least not one that plays like the older games.

I plan on picking it up, at some point. Maybe during a sale or something

Saw this on NeoGAF, thought it was pretty hilarious. Gotta be a Zelda and RE fan to truly appreciate it, though.

I watched an LP of it and it looks terrible. Well, it looks nice but everything about it screams 'We have no idea what we're doing!'

Remastered release not far behind the GameCube original.

Sales for Capcom’s Resident Evil 0 remaster, which launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in January, have topped 1.1 million, Capcom announced.

In comparison, the original GameCube release launched in November 2002 sold a total of 1.25 million units.

Capcom announced in May that the remaster had sold 800,000 units as part of their fiscal results ending March 31, meaning that Resident Evil 0 moved another 300,000 units in approximately four months.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

Played the PS1 version of Resident Evil 2 again, and it's my first time completing not only one scenario, but both stories on normal.
I always wondered how could I unlock the Extreme Battle mode, and now that I have, I got startled twice by zombies surprising me as soon as I go up a couple of ladders or open a few doors.
I hate using Claire's strong weapons against bosses, the grenade launcher reach is weak, and all her weapon attacks are pretty weak. I love the revolver though, that is awesome.
Playing scenario 'B' in both story versions is pretty neat, I can see both characters interact wearing alternate outfits.
To be able to successfully pull all of this, I used the infinite ammo cheat, I'm pleased with myself.

A few things REmake 2 team need to keep in mind working on their project:
  • "Keep the start with one in scenario 'A', complete with the other in scenario 'B'" for both of them. That is a big part of what makes this game a classic.
  • "Change the puzzles". It doesn't make sense to have scenario 'A' character and scenario 'B' character perform the exact same puzzles, especially when one has to unlock the door or douse the flames the other character did first in their scenario.
  • "Keep the infinite ammo cheat". I WANT it, I can't be the only one wanting it.

It would make sense to have the destruction caused by Mr. X appear in certain areas, too. I never liked how he busted through the roof and the wall in scenario B, with no effects felt in scenario A, when it was all supposed to be at the same time.

Also... show a hole in the wall in Ben's cell... how did William appear and disappear? :hmm

^Those too.

In a parody, Billy exited the cell toilet to get Ben, and flushed himself back before Leon's return to see what happened.

I'd also like to see the window in front of the staircase broken, cause Leon and Claire in the department supposedly takes place after Jill escaped Nemesis.

Forget the hole; that would be so much better :hehe:

Yeah, that too. Those rippling effects produced by Mr. X and Nemesis shouldn't be ignored. And if Brad appears, then have him as a zombie that can't inflict damage via his mouth, as it was destroyed by Nemesis.

And show a hole in the back of his head.
There is the odd chance that his widely open mouth spared his teeth from getting damaged, but if the tentacle did ruin them and Brad couldn't bite, the result would be pretty amusing.

It would :hehe:

Other changes to the game, what would you like to see expanded on? While I have zero complaints about 2, I always felt that it spent too much time in the precinct, and the rest of the game was a 15 to 30 minute experience in the areas after that, with less emphasis on the puzzle element of the game.

More puzzles to the factory before the self destruct sequence would be fun.

Yeah, they could've done more with that area.

For me, I'd like to see them tweak the fight with the alligator. Have the area more compact and claustrophobic. If the camera angle is that off 4, 5 and 6, then have the tunnel be completely black, and the only light that emits is from your weapon.
Or if it's in the style of 2, maybe have the tunnels like a maze this time and so you're running around trying to fight the alligator while disorientated :hmm

For these two ideas I simply say; eww.
Sorry about that.

Too cliche of a boss battle arena? :p

I think it would be more horror-orientated :hmm

Yeah it really didn't make any sense how in scenario B, once Mr X appears the roof gets blocked off, but you can still go there in scenario A when that part in scenario B occurred first.

It would be cool if character in scenario 'A' takes a glimpse at Mr. X, either heading to attack scenario 'B' character, or strike a zombie with his large fist, but never confront him.
