That makes sense. Bane needs to destroy Batman with his bare hands, because that proves he is top dog. But he might very well use a machine gun against the mob or the GCPD.

That is a sensible, pragmatic approach; and its the sort of thing I think we are likely to see.

I would change just two things; give him a full balaclava so that he doesn't seem to have a tonsure, and paint a vertical white stripe on the face to reference his comicbook design.
