I'm slightly perplexed as to why you're all "ganging up" (I know it's all in good fun, I'm just trying to use the phrase lightly) on regwec. He said this:

Why would Bane wear a business suit? What is there about his character or background which would indicate a need to wear formal business attire?

He never said Bane didn't wear suits. He was asking, "why would his wear suits?" There's a difference. Posting pictures and saying "owned" would be appropriate had regwec said: "Never in the history of the character have we seen him in a suit." But he didn't. He asked a question, which hasn't actually received a direct answer (although some have given their opinion). As such, I'm kind of confused as to the whole collective response over the last page (in the manip thread no less). Had I asked, "Why does the Joker have scars? How does that factor into the story?" and you posted pictures of Bermejo's Joker, how would that be answering my initial question?

Perhaps I'm just missing out on something though...

Bermejo's Joker, and the rest of that entire OGN, is coincidental. I'm not cynical enough to believe otherwise, both the book and the film were made roughly around the same time.

Anyway, why does it matter whether Bane will wear a suit or not? I don't think it does, it all boils down to interpretation. I never expected to see Two-Face with a "scarred" suit, he did wear one though. Took me twice to figure out it was burnt. :(

Speaking of suits, is Nolan the only director now a days that wears a suit every second of filming?

Even when we have pics of him trying put stunts on Begins (harness) and Inception (drowning) he is still rocking the vest/suit/tie...

Not a manip, but I REALLY dig this kinda mask:

LOATHE Bane with Spikes though!

I really like this, it makes sense. I know that the general consensus is that Nolan doesn't over-do with the realism, but the fact remains that his two antagonists in TDK --The Joker and Two-Face-- really pushed the bar for verisimilitude. To say that Nolan wouldn't at least be conscious of that is just ridiculous. Something like this is more likely, and in my opinion rather perfect for the series. Bane is pretty big on his own, without the need for 'pumped up' visual effects. Yes, they could always go the Captain America: The First Avenger route, but why bother? I think fans would be a lot more interested in characterisation rather than visual coherence.

Having said that, I think that mask could be changed a bit. though, seeing Hardy's eyes underneath all that adds a depth of malignity to it. It also reminds me of what Bruce was wearing when he broke into Gordon's office back in Begins.

I agree. People are more prone to being hostile on the internet, it's a practice that needs to be damned.

And have you guys seen Hardy's shoulders? The man's got thick bones doesn't he? How tall is he compared to Bale? I'm beginning to think that he doesn't need to hulk out at all.

He's pretty broad shouldered, like Heath was. Tom's short - about 5'10 I think - but there are ways of getting around that. In any case, I never really understood why people want CGI enhancement - a person can be an intimidating presence just from the way they carry themselves, if that makes sense.

I think CGI will be needed when he hits the Venom to just get some veins and pump going a bit.

I'm not being sarcastic here - why? There was no reason to replace the Joker's permawhite skin either, but that's what Nolan did. His films are presented as a 'look behind the myths' - what if these people had really existed, if you will - so I imagine Bane will just be a naturally big guy who probably uses Venom in some form as well.

I think CGI enhancement is pointless and also tricky to pull off. Which isn't to say Nolan couldn't or won't, because I obviously I don't know what he's planning and I may well be wrong.

So how would you show the effects of Venom on screen?? Is just yelling and screaming enough for you?? I'd like to see some kind of change to his body when he uses it unless Nolan throws it away completely which would be very disappointing.

raimi.

That^ Hardy manip is cool but I dont dig the open top, ski-mask mask look. If he had something similar to the luchador face that would be amazing.

Very cool, but yes Bane with spikes gives off too much an S&M, tie Batman up and do dirty things to him, vibe. Other than that, Awesome

Love it. this is how he could start out looking. Then he will change his costume. Very Nolan like Imo. :yay:

i would actually say thats NOT very nolan like. nothing in nolans batman films has set any sort of precedent for anything like that.

Prepare to be disappointed.

If Nolan includes Venom at all(which I think he will), it'll be in the form of a super steroid that works similarly to PCP. Makes Bane seemingly "impervious" to pain, along with the steroid that gives him increased strength and stamina.

That's exactly how I think Nolan will handle it.

If you look at Hardy's work pre Bronson he was a narrow shouldered pretty boy. That's why his transformation to Bronson was a big deal.

He still had some size on him during Inception and then Warrior(more cut and over all better physique than Bronson). For "Tinker Tailer" he seams to be sleeker still, and in the picture at the Lakers game with Dicaprio last week, he still doesn't look very big still....

I wonder if this has to do with him being in "THE WETTEST COUNTRY" (stop snickering) before TDNR. He may not be allowed to bulk before he's done with that part...

Hurry up Hardy. May is around the corner....

Yeah, I watched cartoons when I was little, too. How does this explain why we are likely to see Hardy's Bane wear a business suit? How does it indicate why that would be relevant to the character or his situation?

Please try to answer without silly icons or "Lolzrs". I have decreasing patience for them.

I want Bane to wear a suit. That's an epic image :awesome:

Actually, that's a pretty standard post, conforming to the present Hype regulations that no member should be able to type and breathe through their nose simultaneously.

(That means at the same time, dudeBro Lollz).

True, MANY ways to get around that. The oldest trick in the book has got to be camera angles and leg-extensions. If it's necessary at all. I think the best way to go would be without the CGI.

There was no reason to replace the Joker's permawhite skin either, but that's what Nolan did. Exactly, while I understand that most fans simply lashed out fervently at "NOLAN'S ALL ABOUT KEEPIN' IT REALLL-ISHTICK", and it's a banal argument, but there seems to be a growing consensus that Nolan is NOT realistic in his interpretations. A 'look behind the myths', so to speak, is probably a very apt way to describe it.

So how would you show the effects of Venom on screen?? Is just yelling and screaming enough for you?? I'd like to see some kind of change to his body when he uses it unless Nolan throws it away completely which would be very disappointing.

The Joker and Dent pushed the bar for verisimilitude, and going full-out with CGI steroid growth seems to be a step back when the same effects of Venom (increased strength, enhanced performance) can be utilised without the need of doing anything sensational. What's the point of making him an overblown freak on steroids from a writer's perspective? The more I think of it, the more it seems unnecessary. Venom can be presented the same way as those pills snipers take to stop their shaking, it would be something that gives Bane an EDGE, and that seemed to be the only thing that venom was used for to begin with. Not to make him a muscly brute, he was already that to begin with, but to give him an edge and home in on a psuedo-anti-drug theme into the story.

i would actually say thats NOT very nolan like. nothing in nolans batman films has set any sort of precedent for anything like that.

I might be missing something here, but a standard 'evolution' of Batman's suit has been more than visibly apparent in the films. The same goes for Harvey Two-Face and the Scarecrow (in the end of BB he's wearing that loose straight jacket, riding a damn horse, it's the closest thing to the 'tattered' costume he's known for in the comics).

Prepare to be disappointed.

I could see that
