If there are any kids left in the 198 left they CERTAINLY would have a reason to be Runaways.

Yeah, you're right. How old is Outlaw? And Leech always seem like a child though he might not be anymore.

I can't remember anymore if Leech is still alive. He's a hard character to deal with, though. I don't know about Outlaw, though. It's be interesting to see what they thought about a gun-toting "heroine" in their midst.

Outlaw is too old, but in the 198 series, Leech was somewhat depicted in his teens by now, but I don't know if he'd really fit. And besides Leech and Franklin and the students at the institute, the only mutant kids that have been revealed so far are Kiden Nixon and Catiana from NYX.

Franklin is a mutant? I always meant to sk.
Yeah Franklin Richards is a mutant. He's has vast untapped psychic powers.

^Yep. He's a mutant by the standards he was born different, and didn't recieve his powers later on in life through some event. But he's not a mutant in the sense that he had some form of X gene.

A mutant as defined in Marvel is a person born with powers. He's no different than the X-men or any of the other mutants

He is in the fact he didn't get his powers the same way the X-Men did. That's how a technical mutant is defined. However, I agreed with your statement, because that's why Namor is considered Marvel's first mutant as well.

You also have to remember that Franklin and Namor were considered mutants during the late 80's and early 90's when everyone and their mother was claimed to be a mutant or connected to one in order to seem "cool" and capitilize on the budding popularity of the X-Men franchise. I mean, that was when Cloak & Dagger went from being "empowered by wacky drugs" to "wacky drugs merely kick-started their latent mutant powers", after all. By having the "anyone born with powers is a mutant" allows a lot of characters who may otherwise have been deemed as classic hybrids (like Namor) to be mutants. It also made Bullseye & Taskmaster hard to peg down.

Some of those NYX girls could be interesting, I recall one needed animal blood to gain her power. Imagine rushing into a firefight and she has to go, "okay, give me a kitten and a hammer".

I honestly doubt any writer wants to touch a perennial target of fanboy scorn than Leetch, who is usually considered incredibly annoying. Which means, yes, fans stereotype regarding a franchise that claims to preach against the evils of such. Irony!

I'd perfer Persuasion to Outlaw if they were going to go with a "new female member who was possibly over 18". Outlaw was just a hanger-on from AGENT X, whereas Persuasion fits the Runaway mold by being the daughter of Purple Man. Plus, she could also be on the run from Weapon X (she was last seen in their Neverland camp) and may even have Canadian agents chasing her to get her to return to some Alpha Flight (or the new Omega Flight) team now that many of the originals died.

Yeah, that was Catiana. It would be interesting if they did show up. Both are still confirmed powered, but I don't know about Felon, who was with them at the end.

Did anyone get Wizard #180? Because I'm seeing people saying that it says that Xavin's "death" in the Civil War tie in will be permanent and I don't really believe that.

Jeez, didn't anybody buy the new Wizard and can confirm this?

I did buy, it's at home and i'm at this dead job of mine. :(

I'm hoping it's not true because they already just lost Gert, losing Xavin so quick would reek of "red shirt" syndrome. Besides, if a normal Skrull like Crusader in MTU can regenerate a friggin' HOLE IN HIS CHEST then I really doubt a neck-crack blow should instantly kill a Super-Skrull in training. But we'll see what happens.

FYI, this is also the same issue of Wizard that claimed that one of the prisoners of the Negative Zone prison is Justice, when Justice is plainly seen in a background shot at the close of CIVIL WAR #4 with the rest of the Secret Avengers that ESCAPED capture. The panel where Cap is sitting on that machine thing being tended to by nurses? Justice is there, standing behind someone. The costume is pretty obvious.

Losing Xavin is kind of wierd? Who's ever heard of a Skrull dying because of that? Don't they transform back after death anyway? Sure, I don't like Xavin, especially because of the way he KEEPS berating humans and such after Karolina CONTINUALLY tells him not to. (Seems that way at least.)

And that Justice might be Danny Rand in costume, you know.

True. Whenever some character has some continuity appearence flub, no longer do they say it's "um, because of Wanda" or "um, Jackel made another clone". Nope, now it's Danny Rand impersonating them. I can just see it now, the "hero for hire" thing got dull so now he croons and plays Superhero Impersonator at Vegas for 6 figures a pop. Gets to pick out the best grannies to go backstage with amungst the Elvis impersonators and Wayne Newton.

This was all a joke. Seriously, I like Iron Fist. And I hope Xavin's not really dead.

I'm waiting for Tony to use Danny to prove he's not Iron Man.
I'm waiting for Tony to prove he's not Iron Maniac from MTU. They've been acting simular lately. ;)

lol Agreed. Only 616 Tony doesn't seem to think that other hero's are dumb as crap. Just misguided. ;)

He also doesn't wear purple armor. But that's about it.

Anyway, WIZARD #181 interviewed Vaughan and Whedon, and while it didn't reveal too much beyond what we already know and some bum-kissing, Vaughan DID claim that "his last issues of RUNAWAYS deal with Chase's actions", basically. Which is good for me as Chase is my favorite Runaway.

I wanna buy this comics soo bad. But I'm never sure when to pick it up. I keep meaning to read it!!! I'm mgonna ask for all the trade paper backs until I get to the current so I can be all caught up!!! What about Gravity could he be one?

Best to go with the Hardcover, so you have RUNAWAYS vol. 1 in one package. Of course, the digests are $7.99 each which is a cheap and quick alternative.

As for Gravity, it doesn't fit his character. He tries too hard to be like established, adult superheroes while the Runaways hate emulating the adults. He'd make a better Young Avenger than a Runaway, IMO.

Runaways #21 will arrive in stores on Oct. 18 from Marvel Comics. The issue is written by Brian K. Vaughan, with art by Mike Norton and a cover by Jo Chen.

Here's how Marvel describes the issue:

"It's the shocking conclusion of 'Dead Means Dead!' As the Runaways face the biggest threat of their young lives, an old friend reappears."

Runaways #21 will be 32 pages and will cost $2.99.
