The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Scene Gwen Stacey Died - Part 1

It wouldn't be very powerful if Spider-Man just has to stop a falling object from hitting Gwen. When the Goblin physically grabs her and throws her down, and her neck snaps… it just hits you really hard.

Heck, Gwen surviving a fall would have a bigger impact than her dying from a falling object. That's just how I feel is all.

Oh! I misunderstood you. I thought you were just saying the situation would be lame. Like Spider-man keeping his girlfriend safe from rubble would be lame. Not her dying from it. Still, I'd feel the impact either way. Gwen's death is partially on Peter's shoulders regardless of the circumstances. That's the part of it that is most important to me. The person he loves more than anyone dies because he wants to keep her close to him.

I guess it really just depends on how it's done, and the execution.

Gotta say that I agree that there are a myriad of different ways they could do Gwen's death and still have it resonate and have Peter still feel the 'weight of responsibility' associated with it, although based on things Webb and Emma have said, I'm pretty sure we'll get the iconic death from the comics even if the location where it happens isn't exactly the same.

Like I said before, I think everything will be the same as the comic, except for the who and where.

Yeah pretty much. I mean they have the iconic shot of Spider-Man webbing downward at something, so…

Alright, it's time to reveal my next "big" piece of evidence to support Gwen dying.

Must admit that I am extremely surprised, after I posted the Gwen on a Cog pic a couple of weeks ago, and how this whole thread started because I believe that 1 second spot in the trailer of Spidey jumping down onto a cog and shooting his web down (in a similar way to the Night Gwen Stacy Died comic) added proof of my belief that Gwen will die, that no one else has yet to notice this...

Alright, let me first start with the pic that allowed me to start this thread:

And now here is the Gwen on a cog pic:

Ok, now here is the revelation...

It's the same cog!

If I am correct then it all makes sense. Gwen falls off of the cog (probably with help from Goblin), Peter jumps down to the cog and uses his web to try to save her.

First, look at the number of teeth on Gwen's cog. It's 15.

Now, look at the teeth on Spidey's cog. You'll have to use a little visual-spatial ability, but again, it's 15.

Next we have the fact that the perpendicular cog to the left is connected to the cog Gwen is on. And although it's more difficult to see it in the Spidey pic, there is a perpendicular cog to the left causing him to turn counter-clockwise.

Anyone (Airnick) have a tumblr of this shot to post?

I think once you guys start looking at it you'll see that this matches.

So now we have Gwen, in her death shroud, at the scene of the crime (so to speak) and we have evidence that seems to prove that Spidey is shooting his web in order to save a falling Gwen who just fell off of the same cog that Spidey jumps down to before he hurredly casts his web in a downward angle.

What do you guys think?

I checked the trailer. The cog that Spidey lands on doesn't appear to have any holes in it like the cog that Gwen is sitting on.

Interesting theory SuperJim, but I also don't see any holes on the cog that spidey is on.

The one just above it at the upper left hand corner looks like it has some holes, but it also looks like it has too many teeth to be the same one that Gwen is sitting on. The teeth also look more narrow on that one. Idk, it's difficult to tell.

Yeah nice effort Jim, but no holes on the cog Spidey's on. That would've been a great clue though.

The pose Gwen is in in that pic makes it look as if she's just been jostled by something, so that cog itself could possibly falling.

^ The quick shot is kind of dark, so making out the holes would be difficult. I would if anyone has any graphics program that could lighten the shot in order to determine this.

Everything else seems to match. The number of teeth are the same, you just need to figure it out. The general size of the cog is correct.

Hmm...

Actually, looking at the video it appears as though the upper left cog rotates and moves a smaller cog that is inbetween the upper left one and the one Spidey is on.

And the upper left one appears to be of similar size and has the holes, since you can see a white line that is part of the roof. So even if the cog that Spidey jumps down to is not the exact one Gwen was on, it may be connected to the same one, meaning at the same level, which still supports her falling.

The upper left cog has holes. But they aren't circular like the holes on the cog Gwen is on.

What's frustrating about all this is that I could still easily say that they let these out to mislead us. "If you think you know what's going to happen, you're wrong"-type stuff.

I don't think that the teeth even match with the upper left one.

It's possible that it's about to fall. I just thought that the cog was spinning her around and that's why she's positioned like that. Holding on for dear life, and watching the battle unfold above her. Maybe with the way that the picture is lit (yellow/orange tones as opposed to the blue-gray moonlit tones of the trailer), something just exploded (a pumpkin bomb?) above her.

^ She's definitely standing upright in that bottom pic, so something has to have happened to make her get on all fours and hang on for dear life.

I do see that the holes in the upper left one appear to be more oval than round, like the ones Gwen is on.

I still can't get over how he two cogs that Gwen and Spidey are on are the same size, each have 15 teeth, have the same pentagram shaped teeth and have the same o-ring groove (round indented ring).

I'm on a mission now to proove, or disproove, whether there are holes in the dark area under Spidey. Any help would be appreciated...

Huh. I never thought of that. I guess if she does fall, is it because Harry does something to make it happen (like throw a pumpkin bomb as you suggested) or does it happen by accident during the fight?

But that's another thing… I wonder if Harry does use pumpkin bombs in this? We haven't seen any signs of it in this trailer so I don't know.

At this point, I find it pointless to try and "prove" whether or not she is going to die in this film. Its fun to speculate, but if you really do want to PROVE something like this, then it feels like you're trying to ruin the movie for yourself and others.
