Days of Future Past The Sentinels - Part 1

Agreed with everything you said but I don't think we'll see the Sentinels again. They are too powerful and the conclusion of the film doesn't allow for it. It might be possible to see the 70s version again. Maybe some of the older models are hanging out in a warehouse somewhere and are dusted off to send against Apocalypse or something but I don't think we'll see the Mark X again.

Yeah, I mean seeing the 70's ones again, it would make more sense.

I think it would be cool if they used them as a last ditch effort to stop Apocalypse, like how they used them in Evolution when Apocalypse had those energy force fields around the pyramids, something similar to that would be awesome to see on film.

There's a possibility that we might see some sentinels again in the 70's remember that Trask is still alive.

I really liked the design of the 2023's Sentinels.

The future Sentinels were horrifying. Truly symbols of despair.

Hated the 70s Sentinel design, they were sh**, but I loved the future Sentinels and the fact they were overpowered. They were almost on Nimrod's level!

They were WAY overpowered. The x-men couldn't even take em down. I think they could've made them very powerful and menacing without making them unstoppable. Would've made for better action scenes.
VERY cool design though

Okay, riddle me this: how in the world does Magneto control the 70's Sentinels?

  • he studied the schematics that he stole from the summit, but those were for a presentation. I seriously doubt the presentation slide would have enough intimate information for Magneto's purposes
  • he uses strands of metal to get into every nook and cranny of the sentinels
  • in the 70's fight scene, the sentinels were actually ON and WORKING. Magneto had actually changed the programming of the Sentinels to initially not target mutants
  • Magneto was not just manipulating the Sentinels in a physical manner: the rocket thrusters, and eyes that lit up, and all the electronics were working as Magneto targeted humans
I just don't see how it was possible for Magneto to do this. Can anyone help me out here? I LOVED the movie, but this was a glaring hole in the story that jumped out to me as I was watching it.

it seemed to me that he altered the programming whilst making them weaker to him.

I really liked the future sentinels but hated the Destroyer face beam ripoff.

The Sentrials were overpowered.

But man the 2020 ones were ****ing awesome.

True although, I think the point of the Sentinels were to prove that time travel was the only means for stopping them. They at least got that correct, but I still would have preferred more team work trying to take them down.

Well Blink worked with most of them, Magneto and Storm teamed up. I'm actually shocked how much screen time Sunspot got. It was pretty hard for them to be effective against the sentinels, I wish Bishop and Storm did more.

I like both looks of the sentinels in the movie. I only wish the sentinels actually spoke using the 90's cartoon voice instead of being silent the entire movie.

I do too but in the end it might have been cheesy, regardless of much I really wanted to hear it. And the voices were created just for the cartoon and didn't exist in the comics before hand.

They were really different from how I knew them from the cartoon but they do probably make more sense.

The comic/cartoon sentinels always seemed a little clumsy and not really looking like they'd pose too much of a threat to the mutants. The future movie one's are absolutely the opposite.

70s Sentinels were fine, but I wasn't feeling the look of the future Sentinels. The body design with that super-narrow waist looked awkward and the small plates made me think of my sister's shiny sequinned jacket more than anything.

I liked the 70's Sentinels as well. I thought they were incredibly well made given that they were non-metal. I'm a fan of the design. They looked their best when they were flying around with their eyes turned on.

They should have included Nimrod and toned down the power of the future sentinels, plus they should have had master mould. Plus Bishop should have been the time traveller with Nimrod following him through.

Damn this movie really missed out on everything cool. Very underwhelming interpretation of the Sentinels saga.

I always knew the sentinels would be amazing.

They always chilled me. Even in the comics. Just the fact you can't plead with them or hope for remorse

The future sentinels looked like something out of a horror movie. Truly terrifying.

They would've been better if we actually saw that they could be defeated instead of being totally unstoppable.

It's a bit weird the 70's sentinels looked like they could have been taken out pretty easily by the x-men.

I could see storm or colossus just wrecking them but the future ones were so incredibly overpowered.
