The Simpsons to kill off one of their main characters this season, reveals show produ

Yeah, but it would be cool to do more with it than one throw away line.

I'd end the show with a twilight zone episode where Homer and/or Bart becomes aware that that the Simpson family is caught in a time loop where they stay the same age and do the same things (for instance Bart must have finished fourth grade 5-6 times now on the show plus all the other times not shown) while events in the world keep on moving forward.

So have Homer/Bart find out what is causing this and fix it so that the family can finally "move on" with their lives.
Sounds like a cool way to end the show

Since both The Simpsons and Family Guy are killing off lead characters, I wonder which will have the balls to actually keep the character dead.

It would. I didn't mean they had done it, more that it was slyly referenced. I'm not going to say it was intentional but it could have been a hint at their plan for the finale at one time. To show them finally, literally progressing in their lives instead of being in a 25+ year bubble.

This is a great idea.

Matt Groenning and Fox need to know about it.

Nah. I think both will be "Coulsoned"

In "Family Guy" it's so easy to retcon any death out of the show by having Stewie go back in time and changing things.

In "The Simpsons" it's harder but they could go the Fit > Fat fit > Fat Tony route again. For instance if Moe dies they could have his cousin Handsome Moe take over the Tavern and then have Handsome Moe have a series of deforming accidents over several episodes that make him look like Moe and develop his crippling self esteem issue.

It's been postponned.

In a conference call with reporters last month, Executive Producer Al Jean said one of the show's main characters will die in a forthcoming episode. The death is now scheduled for the 26th season.

"This is great; no end in sight, except for one character who will die next season," Jean said in response to the show's renewal.

Boo! I was getting really interested in finding out who was going to bite the bullet.

I've always assumed there were just a few million idiots who left their televisions on.

Is this the final season? I saw treehouse of horror on tonight and the opening was epic . I'd like to see it end on a good note. Maybe have Bart and Lisa age in the last couple episodes

Actually, they just got renewed for another season.

I think they'll stop at 30. Either for the sake of... well everything holy, or cause people will start dropping dead.

Thanks guys. I guess they really want to see how long they can keep it running.

Hopefully not long enough to have robots that sound like the main actors, cause then they'd never stop.

I would've ended it 10 years ago but that's just me. The first 8 seasons were the best. The Principal and the Pauper was the first episode where I was like.......mmmmmkayyy hated that.

Yeah that's the tricky part. The series didn't exactly do a total nose dive. Season 9 stared getting rocky. But there were still a few good episodes, as late as season 13.

It's more like a gradual decline, with the occasional passable episode, till the show just turned into a shadow of its former self.

Yeah that's a horrible episode. Groening even said that was one of the worst they've done.

I love the characters and that's why I still watch occasionally. There's a sentimental attachment there.

Oh I'd be lying if I said that I didn't occasionally watch an episode... or try to, anyway.

But really lately, it's just... terrible. And it's actually painful to watch. Even the Treehouse of Horror episodes.
