Yeah, but it would be cool to do more with it than one throw away line.
Sounds like a cool way to end the showI'd end the show with a twilight zone episode where Homer and/or Bart becomes aware that that the Simpson family is caught in a time loop where they stay the same age and do the same things (for instance Bart must have finished fourth grade 5-6 times now on the show plus all the other times not shown) while events in the world keep on moving forward.
So have Homer/Bart find out what is causing this and fix it so that the family can finally "move on" with their lives.
It would. I didn't mean they had done it, more that it was slyly referenced. I'm not going to say it was intentional but it could have been a hint at their plan for the finale at one time. To show them finally, literally progressing in their lives instead of being in a 25+ year bubble.Yeah, but it would be cool to do more with it than one throw away line.

Since both The Simpsons and Family Guy are killing off lead characters, I wonder which will have the balls to actually keep the character dead.
In a conference call with reporters last month, Executive Producer Al Jean said one of the show's main characters will die in a forthcoming episode. The death is now scheduled for the 26th season.
"This is great; no end in sight, except for one character who will die next season," Jean said in response to the show's renewal.
Does anybody even watch the show anymore?
I've always assumed there were just a few million idiots who left their televisions on.
Everyone sucks but you.
Is this the final season?
Is this the final season? I saw treehouse of horror on tonight and the opening was epic . I'd like to see it end on a good note. Maybe have Bart and Lisa age in the last couple episodes
Yeah that's a horrible episode. Groening even said that was one of the worst they've done.I would've ended it 10 years ago but that's just me. The first 8 seasons were the best. The Principal and the Pauper was the first episode where I was like.......mmmmmkayyy hated that.
Yeah that's the tricky part. The series didn't exactly do a total nose dive. Season 9 stared getting rocky. But there were still a few good episodes, as late as season 13.
It's more like a gradual decline, with the occasional passable episode, till the show just turned into a shadow of its former self.
