Any speculations on what the plot will be?

After "Spider-Man 2", I know Doc Ock is a favourite among Spidey fans so why not make the film work around him and Harry and Gustav Fiers, while members are being added to the S6 team?

Otto could be portrayed as the protagonist for the majority of the plot, and have there be some sort of conflict between him and Harry and Fiers throughout the film.

Just some ideas I had:
Possible themes:
“Power” & “Superiority”

An emphasis could be made on Otto being a genius, being hunted down by Mysterio, Kraven and the Vulture, under Fiers/Harry's orders, to work for them. Otto could outsmart and escape from them until the Goblin finally finds a way to bring Otto to him by kidnapping his wife and murdering her in front of Otto.

This could evolve into a conflict within the group; Kraven, Aleski and Otto being against the Goblin's actions but too afraid to confront Harry themselves because by this point in the film, he is as deranged and as lethal as the Goblin should be, having power over the group and being feared by everyone. Otto is beaten helplessly by the Goblin who leaves, making Otto's only motive for joining the Sinister Six to eventually confront the Goblin, though he is never given the chance as Harry is never present, keeping a distance between himself and Otto so that the two never get the chance to meet again in person.

Otto exhibits his intellectual superiority and enhanced physical ability as Doc Ock with his tentacle arms, testing himself with the Sinister Six for not only defeating Spider-Man (to show his superiority) but the Goblin too.

The Goblin could passively push Otto to reach his potential as Doc Ock (in a similar way to how the Joker drove Harvey to becoming Two-Face in TDK).
Otto could almost parallel Peter if the S6 do go against Spidey in TASM3, having lost the woman they love to the Goblin and having to use their intellect to defeat the S6 members instead of just engaging in fist-fights.

TASM3 could involve Otto suddenly showing up and killing Harry who had just been battling Peter, leaving the final battle to be Doc Ock vs Spider-Man (though the film could be criticised for its similarities to SM2 which a lot of people loved). Doc Ock was the original leader for the S6 in the comics after all so it would be a nice homage to it if he took over.
And then (maybe you saw this coming from the common theme I kept mentioning…) the film ends with Doc Ock having killed Spider-Man in front of the public, but Spider-Man’s body ends up going missing and that’s left is Spider-Man’s mask. A post-credits scene to the film reveals Doc Ock, lying on a bed, dead whilst Peter is seen in the shadows, raising his hands in front of his eyes as if he had just seen them for the first time, and then turning towards the camera, donning the Superior Spider-Man suit and then sudden cut to black.

Just an idea but that would be pretty crazy to have in a film.

I'm not saying that the film should be treated as an "origin" story for Doc Ock but really have moments in the film that highlight how much of a threat the members will be for Spider-Man; how deranged and lethal the Goblin is, Kraven's ability as a hunter and how much of a physical match he can be to Spider-Man, Rhino and how over-the-top and cuhraazy he can be (I didn't mind the over-the-top acting at the end of TASM2; Spidey needs one of those "smaller" villains he can make fun of and easily defeat), Mysterio's illusions and trickery and Vulture's aerial advantage with his wings.

If the S6 turns out to be successful, then will they guarantee to use the team in TASM3, to go against Spider-Man, or will Webb still want his own story for TASM3 and leave the S6 vs Spider-Man for a future Spider-Man film (not necessarily a reboot film but one with a new cast, carrying on the story)?

If the S6 film has quite a dark tone to it and the S6 will be used in TASM3, will they have to adjust TASM3 to an overall darker tone, maybe back to TASM’s tone?
I preferred TASM2’s more lighter tone overall, although the Electro and Goblin parts were quite dark (e.g. Electro in the morgue, Electro and Harry breaking into Oscorp, killing that employee and bringing him back to life - if Electro had more screen time doing stuff like that then I wouldn’t have had a problem with Electro having little do in the film).
I guess I don’t mind a slightly darker tone if they have to adjust accordingly for the S6 but I wouldn’t want it to plague the whole of TASM3 because it just wouldn’t be appropriate for a Spider-Man film.

If you want to watch a movie starring super villains then check out the new DC animated movie 'Assault on Arkham'. Awesome movie told from the villains perspective with Batman as the antagonist. The only problem is Batman was in the movie for roughly 25% and imho if Spidey is in S6 for 25% of the movie that's too much as it takes attention away from the villains.

"i dnt liek that Spooderman guy"
"me eithr"
"lets team up"
"k"
"sounds liek a sinister plan"
"lets be called da sinister 6"

If its a tale of redemption I think they'll make some stories for each member or maybe it'll be played out differently

They still have to do the origin for most of them. I don't think Lizard will be in the team.

well some people have stated that the team won't be like the teaser they showed at the end of two so i do wonder if the lizard is even on this team.

i too want an origin story for each of them but since this is before the amazing spiderman 3 some side stories would have to do for each like otto octavious in an accident thanks to spiderman and himself, vulture trying to kill partner or competetor for stealing his inventions and even making a fool out of him but was stopped by spiderman, i still have to think of something for kraven, chameleon, and mysterio(if he's even in the film. he works better as a solo bad guy).

I cannot even conceptualise something that makes sense plot-wise from the "everything is Oscorp" idea Webb gave us.

Hopefully they can write that out somehow? Perhaps Norman Osborn stole some people's ideas?

That's something that I think they'll have to abandon for the S6 movie; I don't mind the idea of the technology being stolen, that works a lot better. I think it would just be best if both "Oscorp" and "Spider-Man" were barely mentioned/weren't the focus of the film.

I think the idea of the "redemption story" was meant to work if S6 was taking place after TASM3, if Spidey had defeated the S6 in TASM3 and if none of them had obviously died.

you probably hit the bullseye there with Otto being the protagonist. can't imagine it being better any other way, unless they're hiding Spidey's presence in the movie

yeah, i mean otto has had a tragic life and been through such an accident. infact in the spectacular spiderman otto was a very weak man who was afraid of norman, adrian toomes, spiderman and the stuff he was doing until goblin secretly caused him the accident

Yeah, the whole "everything is from Oscorp" is a really lazy way of going about this and bringing up the S6. At this point, it looks as though neither Otto nor Toomes has invented their respective machines.

Plot-wise I'm also having a hard time understanding how they're going to make this interesting enough to have people want to come see the movie. The whole point of the S6 was to take down Spider-Man, but the way they mentioned it during the end of ASM2 makes it seem like Harry was creating them for other reasons. It just doesn't sound very good so far. And we don't even know how involved Spidey will be in this movie either. Lots more info is needed.

Why were people interested in seeing the first Pirates movie? You can't really say Depp but the Pirates movie was essentially his break out movie.
You MAKE the general audience care.

I don't really think the PotC movie is a fair comparison. I mean, we're talking about Spider-Man here--a cultural icon, a character that is very well known.

I get the whole "make the GA care." It's the HOW part that I am unsure of, especially considering they have yet to make a truly compelling villain in this series.

The villains in pretty much all the movies are essential side characters in the Spider-Man movies with the focus being on Spider-Man and the woman he is dating but this movie is going to be about the villains. If Spidey appears it will be as an antagonist. The will be stronger because they will be the focus (you'd hope).

Yes, they do. Villains with super powers need origins to make them more developed 3 dimensional characters. It would be stupid to do villains like Dr. Octopus, just have him appear as a mad scientist with metal arms attached to him, and not show him as Otto Octavius and how he came to be that way.

Only rare certain comic book villains work without origins like the Joker.

I hope it's a short story with Octavio's being a fleshed out character and feirs was just holding his arms for display

Agreed. Otto should be fleshed out. He's one of the biggest A-list Spider-Man enemies. I can't imagine anyone introducing him and not doing an origin for him.

If they were to do an origin for any members, I'd expect them to definitely cover Doc Ock and Kraven.
I'm beginning to think that Mysterio may not be the right choice for the S6, for budgeting reasons and I think the team would be too overpowered. Chameleon may work best instead and it means they wouldn't really have to do an origin for him either.
