The 'Sleep Deprived' fans of The Dark Knight Thread. - Part 1

BUT... on a separate note, i totally started to watch TDK last night... but i fell asleep like half way through, so i have to rewatch it again tonight. for real, legit this time. lol

There's a lot of stuff i like about that movie... but one scene i really dislike (and its not really the scene that i hate, but just the takes they decided to use.) is the bit before alfred gives his "i was in burma..." speech.
The dialog that was in the teaser trailer made that scene sound GREAT, but in the final version, It just sounds really tired... like they've been doing it all day and they're burnt out from it.

You can really hear it in Michael caine's delivery. "You crossed the line first, sir. You squeezed them, you hammered them to the point of desperation. And in their desperation they turned to a man they didn't fully understand."
he sounds like he's just belting out the lines at that point... and thats nothing against Caine, he's a terrific actor, but it just feels like he's... bored. or tired of doing it over and over again.

In the teaser, it was perfect. you can tell it was an earlier take. I would have used that one, or at least the audio from it.
Also when the Joker says "It's simple. We, uh... Kill the batman." I dislike that take too... it was PERFECT in the trailers. it was chilling. but in the theatrical version, he just says it like its no big deal. which i can see WHY they'd do that. because he's ****in crazy and it isn't a big deal to him.

I dunno... i'm just *****ing because it has always bothered me and i needed to share my frustrations. lol

Rest assured, i'm not done though. I intend on nitpicking the **** out of it on my next viewing.

well, you know, man... i'm just like.... saying.

Out of town my friend, just saw your rant now. :oldrazz:

I prefer the other take as well but I can understand why they chose the different Joker "Kill the Batman" take, I'm sure they wanted it to come across completely nonchalant for the Joker and the one used in the trailers seemed more serious.

I agree with the Caine bit too, I thought that was some of the coolest dialogue from the trailers and it felt kind of anticlimactic when it was delivered.

The one that annoys me to no end though is when they capture the Joker and Gordon gives his "Nothing in his pockets but knives and lint" speech. In the trailers it was perfect, there was a real emphasis on how strange this character was. In the film though, Gordon says his lines, then immediately after hes done the Mayor basically cuts him off like this guy isnt strange or unusual at all.
Dislike :down

agreed... i haven't managed to rewatch it fully yet. probably tonight.
*edit* watching it now...
just at the "then you're gonna love me" line... dislike that too, lol. and i dislike all the scenes between bruce and rachel.
Also, wouldn't the oils from the fingerprints on the bullet burn off from the combustion of the gunpowder? i mean... that is REALLY a stretch. that whole plot point.
most of the other stuff, i like. exluding the ferry scenes, and the sonar. and the lack of arkham/narrows
and the fact that dent didn't get acid to the face in a courtroom.... that still bugs me.
and i hate how batman comes out of nowhere when Dent is interrogating Thomas Schiff. he was just questioning Maroni, and he like.... teleports to where dent is!? idk... maybe they were near eachother and he heard the gunshot, but i don't buy that. Gotham is a big city.

The more I watch the sonar scene, the more I dislike it. Maybe its because I've seen it probably 50 times, but I really dont like certain bits of dialogue and small bits like some of those youve said.

P.s. I started a Facebook group regarding the Dark Knight East Coast shoot, if youre on FB please join, I vow not to run it like the Indian chaps.

Probably... I still wish it was a different villain though. its all good though, 'cause we'll get catwoman, and i've been wanting to see Nolan's take on catwoman for a while.

LOL, i totally didn't know about the NY/snow stuff.
jesus, i'm behind.

Haha yeah I think they shot plates in like January because they wanted snow on the ground.

I'm happy with Bane, I always thought he was a character with alot of potential that Schumacher just royally obliterated. Im excited to see what Nolan does with him.

always nice to see a snow-covered Gotham.

Did you hear the interview with Gary Oldman?
The one where he says he's got "a lot to do" with bane. and he indicated the story goes full circle.

Yea man, you really have been out of the loop for a while havent ya :cwink: :woot: jk

Seriously though it sounds cool, whenever I heard that Gordon and Bane would have screentime together I immediately thought of the old Animated series episode where Gordon releases Bane from Arkham in an effort to hunt Batman because he believes he killed Barbara. "Over The Edge" is the name, great damn episode

lol... :csad:
I just don't want to be spoiled.

That would be cool to see!

When i hear that, i think lots of screen time together. it doesn't really make sense though. One good shot to the head, Gordon could blow his brains out. Imagine... right when He's got Batman lifted in the air, just about to SNAP his back, BLAM! bullet to the head, end of bane. lol

lol. I want Nolan to stick to the source material origin of Bane but I also believe he's gonna have an entirely new take on the character. I just wanted a more truthful adaptation of the character than the butchered one we got in B&R. :down

I'm sure thats just what we'll get. i just think its a little anticlimactic sounding, after everything in TDK. I mean, I don't consider Bane as big a threat as The Joker. Hopefully Goyer/Nolan make him ruthless.

Im sure they will. Immediately after DK, and in the weeks following I would have conversations with friends about who could possibly be a bigger threat than the Joker and we kept coming back to Bane. A physical and psychological threat who matches and exceeds Bruce's own ability is something we haven't seen yet and it could make Bane really formidable. I really hope theyre truthful to the character, I have no reason to doubt them but Schumacher left a stain on the character after he shat in our eyes. :down

I'm convinced we'll see strong hints of Prey, so much is suggesting this so far.

I think Bruce will have to end up killing Bane. I just hope it doesn't involve any more villains FALLING TO THEIR DEATH. That's like... every single batman movie. someone falls to certain doom.

I just thought it would be a cool twist to see Gordon be the one to kill Bane. He's not impervious to bullets. And he really wouldn't even have to kill him. I would pay to see Gordon blow one of his knees out with a shotgun, then hit him across the face with the stock. That would be bad-ass. plus he'd live. LOL

I mean, Batman can't do that kinda stuff and get away with it. But Gordon could. Plus it would re-establish their partnership.

I think that would be awesome, similar to the alternate ending of "Seven" (or Se7en if you do that whole thing :o) in which Morgan Freeman's character is the one who shoots John Doe instead of Brad Pitt. Freeman is on his way out and knows Pitt has a long time ahead of him so he shoots him himself, its a cool idea I think.

Exactly. Sometimes I wish Fincher would have gone with that ending... or at least shot it.

haha i go on superhero hype to see the smallville final episode screencaps and i saw your post. LMAO

LOL! I watched it the other night... it was bad. worse than i remember. :csad: I didn't even finish it. i mean, there's parts of forever that i like, and will forever defend. but Batman and Robin is just... irredeemable.

I think i'm gonna watch the first Bane episode on TAS. One of the best purchases i've ever made was buying all of them on dvd. :awesome:

I agree on the dvd's too, that series is one of the best investments I've ever made.
