Maybe it's a similar situation to X2 in that they can get away with some stuff as long as they don't dwell on it. Though saying that I don't think every showed any actual blood in X2.

The Weapon X flashblack...

Well thats good that its rated pg 13 at least with some gore and...other. lol.

Man...I hope my expectations for this movie don't get plundered down the toilet when X3 came out. Otherwise, im keeping them really low.

They showed a good amount during the final Weapon X flashback, but not much besides that.

Good point. Though that was still pretty obscured if I recall correctly.

Pretty funny when considered next to Origins version of that scene. Was there any blood there?

Do you know how hard it was to take World War Z seriously, as a Walking Dead fan? :funny:

:D. I too LOVE the Walking Dead, WWZ got around the gore...just by not showing it :D. I still enjoyed it, but I gave a review and said I still enjoy tons of gore in my zombie movies. :D

No...because producer Lauren Shuler Donner said they didn't want to have blood in XMO: Wolverine because they wanted to keep it PG-13...almost like ANY blood whatsoever would be and automatic R-rating...I hated hearing her say that in the commentary.

Never actually listened to the commentary on that film. That makes it even more funny given the Wolverine Origins movie game which is probably the bloodiest thing still associated with the x-movies.

This new?

Don't even get me started on that... NO blood whatsoever. Hardly violent or intense. I've always said that the entire film should have been a Weapon X adaptation, but instead we got a watered-down 5 min. version of the damn thing. The X1-X2 flashbacks were so much better.

Agreed. Origins would've been better if his emergence from the Weapon X tank was the finale...rather than midpoint in the movie. I think it's still the coolest scene in the film.

Seeing Wolverine emerge from the tank just seemed like a comic panel brought to life. He was screaming, claws popped out and had tons of needles sticking out of him.

That should prove interesting.

Agreed. There was so much of the Weapon X elements that were mishandled.

I would have preferred that shot if it weren't just anger. In the original comic and the other previous films' flashbacks, it's rage mixed with horror, agony, confusion.. I would have preferred it like that, personally.

:D. Of course...forgot the looks of "holy crap!" And "this freaking hurts like a mother!" :D

That would've been cool.

Not to get too off-track regarding the thread's topic, but every time I think about this, it bugs me. The entire point of the original story was thrown outta the window. Seriously, it lasts a few minutes, then he goes for a swim. In the comics, it's about trying to hold onto his humanity as it's being being violently stripped from him. His eventual "victory" is supposed to feel earned, hard-won. In Origins, they gloss over it all. I also preferred how he's introduced as an ex-agent who's hit rock bottom, drinking heavily to block out his nightmares, getting into bar fights, etc. Dark stuff.

Poni, I know you can't say much, but if you could put my mind at ease for ONE thing-- there's a moment in a featurette where it seems as though Yashida is speaking to Shingen in English. I have a feeling that won't be the case in the film itself, but I'd still like to be 100% sure.

Agreed.

I remember after my sister saw it, the first thing she asked was, "Why do they call him Logan??" And it's true...there's no explanation to why he changed his name, which was a cool moment in the Origin comic.

I just re-read my Wolverine: Origins collection...such a good storyline...Guess I should actually read the Japanese saga before seeing the movie :D.

I know the basic elements and overall plot of that saga; just never read it front to back.

Yeah, it's true. When did that even happen in the context of the story? Stupid. On top of the bigger issues, lotsa small ones like that bugged me too. The dog tags, also. Was it really impossible to keep the Canadian tags from X1-X2? Unnecessary change.

I re-read the Japanese saga at the pool a few weeks ago.

Came across this elsewhere. Watch the end for the Origins DVD.

And I remember he only had the one dog tag in X1 & X2...I kept waiting for him to lose his one dog tag or give it to somebody.
