I think he named himself Albert, or maybe Elsie Dee called him that, she's the little girl holding onto Wolverine's leg, except she's actually a robot full of explosives. Those Albert and Elsie Dee issues were among the first Wolverine comics I read, not exactly an auspicious start.

That's right...I had forgotten about Elsie Dee!

To you, which is fair enough that's what you take from it. That's your right, but that doesn't translate to 'what everyone else thinks' or 'what is'. Plenty of people have no problem with the Yukio moment and many think The Wolverine looks fairly serious.

Btw, I'm not having a go. I just think the wording of your posts are giving off the wrong impression.

Well we all have our own opinions. We all enjoy what we enjoy.

Having no problem with the scene is fine, but it is being mostly dismissed on the basis that this is a comic book movie. Same with the train scene and goofy shots like Wolverine hanging at the end of the international trailer, the exploding claw trick and Wolverine's Yakuza beating.

It isn't that I am saying the premise isn't outlandish. Of course, the man with the metal skeleton, insane healing factor and claws is starting out strictly in the fantasy realm. But that doesn't mean you have to suddenly think less of it because of that. I don't think that is fair in a world where Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, the OT Star Wars, Nolan's Batman, and most of the MCU exist.

You can do that of course. We all enjoy what we enjoy, but that doesn't negate my point. It would be like trying to call Origins a serious piece of Cinema on the same level as Scorsese's best. I can understand liking it, but I can't really understand that line of thinking.

So no train shirt for you, then?

I'll take a Silver Samurai (no helmet) vs. Wolverine shirt. That scene looks potentially awesome.

But to be fair to the train scene. I have a personal vendetta towards trains.

You don't have to excuse your opinions, it's just that you were coming across as though you weren't just offering your opinion.

I'm not saying everything is perfect. I'm a bit sceptical of the exploding tank bit and motorbike ninjas on the roof (but they don't really bother me that much) and I accept some may have issues with the cgi on the train sequence, but I don't really agree with the terms goofy or hokey.

I personally don't have a problem with Yukio's martial arts sequence. It could possibly use a quicker edit, but that's the only criticism I'd probably offer for that. The basic concept is fine to me.

I also don't think "it's a comic book movie" is just a hand wavey dismissal of criticism as much as it may be a statement that it seems fine enough because it's in keeping with the tone some might expect.

That doesn't mean it won't have a dark and meaningful story either. Though I can understand that not everyone will appreciate those moments in the movie since even the Batboards have more than a few fans this or that moment ruined BB, TDK or TDKR for them (most that I personally don't understand the fuss if I'm honest).

I think somewhere Danoyse's dad is sitting there muttering to himself "ah, my nemesis". :oldrazz:

Spotted this at the movie theater today:

Oddly enough, this space was last occupied by a Les Miserables poster.

Looks good!

Agreed. Everyone is free to criticize what they saw in the trailer, just as much as anyone is to praise it. That's what opinions are for.

Personally, I don't need them to reinvent the wheel with these movies, I just need to enjoy them. That's what I mean by not taking them too seriously, yet that doesn't mean I don't want a quality movie. Origins was a terrible movie, and from my humble opinion, what we've seen so far looks like a massive improvement, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it.

As far as I'm concerned, I'm not going to nitpick action sequences we've only seen seconds of, or start questioning things said in interviews based on just a trailer. That could certainly change once I see the final film, but at least by then, I'll have a full movie to go from.

It's ok to just want to have fun at the movies, and that certainly doesn't mean that you just let bad movies happen or you don't want quality movies. We have fun at the movies because they're good movies.

Eh, he's used to it. :oldrazz:

Wouldn't Wolverine forget about Yashida since he saved his life before Weapon X? Hopefully they explain that in the movie.

Thoughts on Jackman's hair for this film? Do you feel that it is too short to evoke his iconic feral silhouette? I thought his hair in Origins was cool, retaining the iconography without the artificial look of the first three. Interesting that he has the same short hair in the flashback; I guess he cut is hair after the D-Day landing where he had long hair.

He was having pre-Weapon X flashbacks in the first two films. It's possible he's another flashback, even if it's just a memory of the bomb itself.

I think the most likely scenario is that Yashida will be telling Logan what happened and we will be seeing it as he tells it.

I actually like the shorter hair. It's reminiscent of the smaller cowl from Wolverine's first costume when he battled Hulk, at least the silhouette of it is.

this is what I am thinking, myself. A kind of gradual return of forgotten things.

As far as the WW2 scene I think it could just as easily be from neither character's perspective. I think The Wolverine could easily open up in that era and it's just for the audience and when we see Yashida as an old man understand that he still remembers that moment even if Wolverine doesn't. No need for flashbacks or telling it from Yashida's perspective imo.

Though saying that it would be interesting if Wolverine at some point has a flashback to a portion of that (like flashes of images) to maybe emphasis the importance of those memories to Wolverine's character to the audience.

Plus I always interpreted Wolverine's amnesia as not total, but 99.9% and that he'd have some vague flashes of things like the Weapon X project in the first two x-men films etc.

Frankly, I was thrilled at how often Wolverine turned up shirtless in that trailer. :oldrazz:

Huge pectorals for all.

My favourite Wolverine hair cut of the series so far. I hope they stick to it in the future.

And we must never return to the horror of TLS/Origins.

See, I never minded the Origins cut. It was the only time I thought they did a decent job of making Wolverine's hair look like it could have naturally grown that way. This shorter cut does as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the movie, but the hair was one thing I thought they did okay in origins.

i just didn't like how well groomed wolverine looked in origins he looked like a model his hair looks so pretty lol

I'm replaying Origins. I forgot how great it was to finally have Jackman's Wolverine cut completely loose. Too bad Raven Software isn't working on a Sequel. Speaking of Raven Software, anyone know what they've been doing lately?
