This is probably why it's taking so long for them to find the right Spider-Man. It's not just about the looks, charisma and acting chops, but they have to also have great chemistry with the cast and with the public. And the age of the actor they are looking for, an age where people are not even out of the gate trying to find themselves, it's going to be tough.
For what they're looking for in a SM, it's going to dang near impossible to find an actor who fits every parameter, especially the one where they have to hold their own against the existing Avenger team members. That's why I think they'll eventually have to open up the actor pool to those in their early 20s also.I think instead of shooting for a 16-17 year old, they should get a 20 year old instead who's a babyface and can pass him off for a teenager. A little older shouldn't be too much of a trouble imo.

Did Joss make fun of Cap? I mean, Tony definitely did, but then it would honestly be out of character for MCU!Tony NOT to poke fun at a guy like Captain America.
I think people mistake "Tony being a jerk to a guy his father (who he has so many issues with) idolized" for "Joss disliking the character".
I dont think Joss hates Cap I think he was writing in character as Tony and it came out in the dialogue. It was like a battle of old vs new to me. Tony is so advanced, he saw Cap as an old stick in the mud. Of course hes gonna be snarky to him.
In AOU theyve become close but I guess that doesnt last as long as we hoped.
Uh, it's hard to say, because it wasn't just Tony, but pretty much everyone in the movie kept on giving Cap this sweeping arm pass like he was nothing, and I felt he had to work to get the respect he got in the end. Case in point, when Thor came down and got Loki out of the aircraft, Cap was suiting up to go after him and Natasha was like, better sit this one out Cap, these guys are basically Gods, I took that like she really didn't think much of him. Then the battle in the forest, with the whole Thor "you want me to put my HAMMER DOWN?" and he does go to put the Hammer down, only to end up being blown back by the reprecussions of Cap's shield. After that, he learned to respect Steve. So, all of this may be jabs and polks at Cap in the beginning, but I think Whedon knew what he was doing, and had to build up Cap slowly in this movie. It would be hard to digest for the regular folk to see him as the leader all of a sudden with the likes of Tony, Thor, Fury and even Widow to an extent. I found this to be a brilliant move by Whedon. The only major downfalls after three years of absorbing this movie, is that he gave Widow too much power in it.
considering Widow was the only female member of the team, Joss did the right thing. As for Cap he gained the respect of his fellow teamates when he lead them into battle in the battle of New York.
Stark feud with Rogers is Rogers got to have a relationship with his dad the way Tony never did. Not to mention Captain America's reputation speaks for itself he earns the respect and trust of others.
How come what Black widow did was ok just because she's a woman? I don't understand.
warhorse: I bet that Howard did rave to Tony about how great Cap was. He even says it "Thats the guy my dad couldnt shut up about?...". So there probably was some resentment since he and Howard werent very close. good point.
t: Now, that is very 616 and I wonder how that plays out in the movies.Uh, it's hard to say, because it wasn't just Tony, but pretty much everyone in the movie kept on giving Cap this sweeping arm pass like he was nothing, and I felt he had to work to get the respect he got in the end. 100% agreed. In the movie, Cap earns the respect of everyone, and gets his moment to much like everyone got a chance to face Loki. Even Stark said "Call it Cap" which shows that now Stark is willing to follow him. You can't start the movie with Cap as the leader. It has to mature. Whedon does it brilliantly. Watching the film yesterday, it was even more evident to me. While Cap wasn't the "sexiest" character in the movie, he was in many ways its heart.
