Age of Ultron The Steve Rogers/Captain America Thread - Part 1

Cap was just unfrozen from a block of ice after 70 yrs and he's like 90 yrs old. Yes, I think he did a good job standing up to the other much younger people under those awkward circumstances in A1. The suit wasnt his fault, blame Phil Coulson/SHIELD! They did everything wrong in that movie anyway. :)

While Cap was born early he hasn't really lived or aged when he was frozen so he's actually the youngest of the real Avengers (in that movie) in most ways. Stark and Banner are clearly older and Thor has probably lived for a thousand years. :)

Hes still older than them no matter how you spin it. He's younger physically but hes from another era. Like Billy The Kid going from 1880s to 1950s. He was frozen in ice for 70 years, woke up and then fought a war against an alien army soon after. He did good imo.

Thor is still the oldest by miles.

I was going to mention this! I can´t remember how old it was said in TDW that Loki was, but Thor must be around that age too.
And though the joke in TWS was "I´m 95, I´m not dead!" :oldrazz:
by MCU timeline, Steve was born in 1918 but frozen in 1945, so the guy lived 27 years before being frozen and has been unfrozen for 3 years (by the timeline in AoU) so the guy may be 95 y/o but his life experience is that of a 30 y/o guy who lived during the great depression, fought in WWII, etc. So naturally he is expert in battle, but he is still young in his personal life.

Personally I figure that Thor is about 1050+ yrs/old or so. In the first Thor movie, the prologue takes place in about 960 A.D. and Loki is found as a baby. Thor is probably a little bit older than Loki (he is, after all, Odin's "first born"), we're pretty much at the point in the MCU where things are taking place 'real time' (Thor:TDW, CA:TWS and GotG took place when the films came out) - ergo 1050-ish years ;)

(I don't think TDW specified an exact age for Loki, Loki simply mentioned "give or take 5,000 years' when Odin noted that they are not gods/they live and die like humans - simply pointing out the longer life-spans)

Guys Im talking about Earthlings not Asgardians. Theres a difference.

Older yes, more mature no. 1,000 years old and yet still being grounded by daddy in Thor for immature reckless bonehead bloodthirsty behavior. :woot:

I'm not familiar with the mythology of Thor...for someone 1000 y.o. he seems sorta...not so wise. My personal headcannon is that Thor's age is relative; like "Intersteller" relative. Where 1 hour of Asgardian time equals 1 month of Midgardian time...or something like that. (Someone else can do the math.) That is the only way I can make it right in my head! Of course, I'm sure to be proven wrong and will be told that Thor is quite literally 1000 years old regardless of realm. Lol.

Anyway, back on topic...Cap is very battle savvy and able work well with some very formidable "others" in Avengers (1) given his short-ish stint in the army (2-3 years?) That's talent. (Was Skinny Steve an actual boy scout?) And from TWS, he's apparently gained respect and some admirable fight skills in the interim. I'm looking foward to some BAMF Cap in about 11-12 days.

Yeah. That's what gave me a double take during A1. He says to Coulson "In my youth, I courted war." Like dude, aren't you like barely 30 in people years?! And by in your youth do you literally mean 2 years ago?! Thor is a hot mess. Lol.

Asgardians I think live around 5,000 years so comparatively Thor at 1,000 is only 1/5th through his life - he's still young for his people. Longer life spans can create longer adolescence and young adulthood.

For instance in LOTR, Hobbit who live longer than Man in their twenties are tweens and 33 is considered the age of adulthood. Expand that life line exponentially and you have elves considered still young adults in their hundreds or early thousands. (hence 2000 yr old Arwen putting the moves on 21 yr old Aragron)

Yes long ago in his far away youth when he tried to commit a little genocide by wiping out the Frost Giants. And just minutes before he's committing an act of aggression (because snatching Loki out of a moving plane makes so much more sense than talking to his captors), fighting with Tony instead of explaining and almost murdering Steve for daring to try to stop his fight. Hot mess indeed.

I´m sure these two bros lost it at some point! :oldrazz:

This looks like it filmed after the London premiere and was posted yesterday by the family of the little boy who's going though a lot but from their most recent post seems to hopefully be on his way to better days with his new heart.

Message From the Captain and PRAYERS!

Owen had a pretty great day! It was made even better when he got this super thoughtful video message from Chris Evans. Owen LOVES Captain America and has been counting down the days until the new Avenger movie comes out on the 1st of May. He will have to wait a while longer to see it now, but this video made his day!! He was so excited to send a video message back so I included those since he is so sweet.

Tomorrow is a huge day. We booked the OR for late morning and we just all hope and pray he can come off ECMO support smoothly. There are many risks involved and we aren’t certain his body will tolerate it. He may or may not come back on ECMO support. Owen is nervous for tomorrow so lets cover him in prayer. It will be a big day! I know his heart is so strong. His angel, the sweet girl who carried this strong heart for 4 years, is by his side. Lots of prayers!

Yeah, as someone who constantly gets annoyed at how little cap does in Avengers 1, i was extremely happy with his stuff in A2, bravo...now saving up for my captain america tattoo.

Steve's screen time in The Avengers is 37:42, he had quite a bit to do and his story was more of adjusting to a world that has moved on in a much more flashy and tech savvy way. Still when it counted he did his job and served as a authority figure leading the team in the battle of New York.

still don't understand how it could be possible that [BLACKOUT]Vision[/BLACKOUT] can [BLACKOUT]lift Mjolnir[/BLACKOUT] but [BLACKOUT]Cap[/BLACKOUT] can't

I read that as an unwarned spoiler in the Reviews thread (thanks whoever you were :cmad:) and I think it's going to be one of the things that annoys me the most from the film.
I don't let such a small issue ruin me the movie, but it seems like an absurd choice after the previous foreshadowing.

They're likely saving that moment for something big like the Infinity War duology.

But the "WOW" factor is gone. No impact for the audience. It has been done before.
I think Whedon screwed it up really hard on this one.

Evans was on the Tonight show:

Evans: [Regarding his nephew] ‘The middle kid, Miles, he’s very much like me in that he’s very particular about what he likes - more appropriately, what he doesn’t like, which is everything. He says, “I don’t like it. I don’t like it. I DON’T LIKE IT.”

Fallon: ‘”I don’t wike it.“’

Evans: ‘Well, he has the same speech impediment that I do, where the Ls and the Rs turn into Ws, so it ends up “I don’t wike it. I don’t wike it!” and it’s everything.

too cute!!

BTW! I saw AoU and I think I can quote his nephew if I have to talk about the film :oldrazz:

It seems like Evans has a lot of funny quotable during this junket, I can't imagine how much more will come when him and Pratt are grouped together. I would imagine they'd be a modern day Cheech & Chong :funny:
