Comics The SUPERIOR Spider-Man - Part 2

Some people have been talking about this, but after Pete comes back it might be interesting to see him disheartened by all this and leave NY and the Spidey identity behind for a journey to find himself. I admit, the idea sounds kind of interesting to me, also I happened to like identity crisis and the Dusk costume, this could be an interesting way to bring that back. Though him just going around righting wrongs across the nation could be something.

What do you guys want to see for Pete now that the end is near?

I could see them do that. Not sure how Pete's getting back (still think it will have to do with something with the "soul molecule"), but either Pete or Otto will need a body (hey, they brought Otto's body back to life once before).

Aloha,
Yes they did. So it's no stretch for Otto to have planned somewhere down the line another body.

Otto is too much of an egomaniac to ever accept that HE Octavius can't be respected for his genius. The role of Peter Parker imposter is going to get repugnant to him.
I was thrilled to see in the Superior Spider-Man Annual that SpOck does not want to get anywhere near Dr. Strange. Not only will Dr. Strange know that he is an imposter but if anyone can retrieve "ghost Peter" from the void, it's the good doctor.
I said from day one that Superior would end around the time of the next Amazing Spider-Man movie.I'll hedge my bet and say by the end of the Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the movies, Superior will be gone.
The way Menace talks to the Goblin King I don't think he could be either Norman or Harry Osborn. And the way the Goblin King talks, he has been a part of the Goblin family for some time.

Spidey rules with more clues!

If done for a year. I don't want it to be like Marvel's Reborns and done in like 3 or 4 issues...

Or someone who has had multiple encounters with Goblins...
Maybe it an Amnesia-Riddled Ben Reilly...
:-p

I always said I'd give this series about a 2 year run. 3 at the most. How's it looking? They even began on the 700.'s

Kind of a twist on Ben Reilly's Lost Years mini...

Actually though, doing this would make Peter EXACTLY like Lee Child's Jack Reacher character. Not saying that is a bad thing, I'm a HUGE fan of the Reacher novels.

And it looks like, as I said the other day, that the theory that the Green Goblin is
somehow Peter Parker or Peter Parker in Norman's body or something along those lines
appears to be very much back in play. Not only because the rumor from Bleeding Cool that
Superior Spider-Man #30 is actually being the last issue, and that calling it Part 4 of 5 of Goblin Nation is actually a fake out
but also the following preview page from Superior Spider-Man #26:

Notice just HOW the Green Goblin punches Hobgoblin and the look of his stance in that one panel? Just like in Superior Spider-Man #17, the Green Goblin appears to be doing what looks an awful lot like kung-fu/martial arts moves. And who we know in the Spider-Man comics that, in the recent past, took up martial arts as a means of compensating for their temporary loss of one of their powers? I'm sure you guys know who I'm getting at, don't you?

Although, I still think that one theory that Mason Banks is the Green Goblin in disguise is pretty on the money as well. It's just that the Green Goblin is not Norman Osborn this time around.

What if...
Norman, Peter and Mason are all the same person? Don't forget Norman has the ability to shapeshift...

The last big arc in Avengers written by Bendis... I believe Norman injected himself with all the DNA of the Avengers to get their powers... something like that... it's what put him in the coma... I wasn't reading the book, so perhaps someone else can explain it...

lol. Seriously? How does one attain a Gods powers by injecting their DNA into oneself? Norman already had superhuman strength...why would he need Captain America's "powers"? Same for Iron Man...Hulk is the only one that kind of makes sense... This is silly, even for comic books.

I thought he acquired the powers of the Super-Adaptoid... which (essentially is all the avengers powers) but it definitely does have the power to shapeshift

I dunno... I didn't read the arc... I knew he was gathering DNA... and when I would see Avengers' covers where it showed Norman having claws and a Spidey sense, I just "assumed"...

:csad:

Eh, like much of Bendis' work on Avengers, just ignore it.

Personally, I LOVE the idea of Peter being in Norman's mind. I hope it works out that way.

I'm hoping its Peter in Norman's mind too. I have a pretty good felling it will be.

Dang, to quote Hank the Cowdog, "The Thick Plottens" iiiiiiiiiiiinteresting panels StillANerd.

In all the times I've seen Norman fight, I've never seen him use anything that looked like he had formal training. Usually I see him using his tools and the occasional punch or kick, but that there is a palm strike. Brawlers don't tend to randomly throw those out. Hmm...

To further explain what happened to Norman when he got the Super-Adaptoid's powers, he used the powers to absorb other superhero powers. This caused him to shift forms rapidly, which was his body responding to to all the new power it received. Eventually the Avengers used this to their advantage and caused the overload which caused Norman to lose control over his form. In his fight to regain his form, he slipped into the coma that put him in the hospital we saw him disappear from.

Aloha,
But if that were the case, wouldn't Goblin King know who was behind Spideys mask? If, Norman is in fact the Goblin. Menace refers to Carlie again as Family, so I still don't think that the GK is either one of the Osborns. BTW- what happened to Gwen Staceys Goblin son?

if I remember correctly, he was last seen in a psychiatric hospital...

The problem for me is that I don't really care about anything that's happened after One More Day. But perhaps I'll get into Superior Spider-Man when its over.

Do we know what's happening when we hit issue #30?

Nope but we should find out in a couple weeks when the solicitations for april pop up.

Exactly.

This Green Goblin, whoever he is, is going through an awful lot of trouble to unite all of the various Goblins. We have Menace, Phil Urich, Carlie Cooper and soon to be Kingsley. (Possibly at any rate.) Who is missing? Harry Osborn, Norman (maybe) and Gabriel Stacy.

Harry is on the other side of the country laying low, so I can see how Goblin King could overlook him. Gabreil, however, is under lock and key in a psychiatric ward. How hard could it be to break him out? I mean, Menace broke Urich out of police custody pretty easily, so why hasnt it happened for Gabriel? Unless, Gabreil is already among them, as the Goblin King.

He was a failure as the Grey Goblin and Iron Patriot, so he decides to redeem himself as his father's nom de guerre, the Green Goblin.

Gabriel is a universally hated character, so what better way to get rid of him than by a murderous Spider-Man in a mega event? Spidey may be in a deadly mood, especially if Goblin King does knock off a few long time characters during Goblin Nation.

My two cents.
