The S was just too small and they used a horrible shade of red.

If the boots were taller, the 'S' was larger, the buckle were different, and the cape attachment were similar to MOS then I would really like this suit. And I really liked Routh too.

Nope, screw you guys, I still really like both the suit and Routh.

i applaud their desire to stay traditional, but the tweaks they made to it made it a very unsuccessful design

I think with a few tweaks (the ones we've all been talking about since '05, open up the neck, larger S, less constrictive material, the size/cut of the trunks) it would have been perfect.

Probably an intriguing but brief interlude. Cavill got the role at the right time.

Agreed. He's aged into it perfectly, too. Very pleased that he's the DCCU Superman.

i know this was mentioned a while ago with the shield design, but what if they went with a design that had the Fleischer suit as a template?

not necessarily a direct copy of that suit, but the overall aesthetic feel of the suit...

Rubber-Plastic Superman suit was also going to be used for McG's Superman FlyBy, both Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill gave screen-tests for that movie in that suit.

2004? I had no idea Henry had been in the running for Superman that long! But I'm glad we have him as Superman now rather than then. That was at a time where every actor young and hot in Hollywood was wanting to be Superman.

Oh, please back to the real topic...

What happens when no new footage or pics have popped up. The first real good look at Batman came from the set of another film/

Sometimes Routh and Cavill look alike to me, but then I remember... well they were both cast as Superman so it makes sense. But then I also remember Nick Cage was cast as Superman, and I take a swig of whiskey. :o

I like the kryptonian writing on it but I don't like the placement and how it's been squashed vertically.

I don't like it being shrunken vertically either. But to be fair, the MOS emblem didn't make up for the vertical length with horizontal width, so it looked off at times.

^ I always prefer the slightly-more-horizontal shields myself.

One thing I like about the SR shield is that it breaks from the design of the fabric. If you notice the MOS suit, continues the same pattern through even the shield.

I definitely dig on how the costume designers brought more saturation color to Superman's current suit. I'm assuming that one of the reasons for that may have been to further contrast him between his appearance and Batman's one.

I think that's one of the reasons, sure.

Thank God for that... It seems that is part of the suit, not a stick just pasted there.

I'm not saying the raised execution was ideal with SR shield. I just like the shield being broken up a bit from the rest of fabric.

There's nothing I like about the SR shield. It manages to be both diminutive and bulbous, neither of which belong there.

The MOS/BvS shields are perfect. Large (but not too large), proud, and only possessing enough thickness to make them stand out. I also like the smooth, symmetrical lettering. It looks better than the wonky or cartoony styles and the ones that hardly look like an S.

well, when it concerns the overall S design, i do prefer the Singer design over the Donner design, but the MOS design tops both of them... the BvS design... meh... i dont like the kryptonese running through it.
you have something going through his shield, it's a distraction rather than a bonus

I love the MoS/BvS shield, but the SR one is still my favourite. Not necessarily its integration to the suit (though I like that too) but the design itself is really great.

Regarding the S shield, I give the edge to MOS over BvS because it looks a little bigger. Although, looking at the trailer, it didn't seem as big of a size difference as I originally thought. I need to see more shots of the BvS shield and the costume overall, including the final shades of blue and red. But I like both designs.

I don't like the look of the Flyby suits or anything about SR costume.

I really love the shield in BvS, it is definitely an improvement over MoS shield.

Agreed. I get what they were trying to do but that type of Superman suit placed in the modern day just made it look like a Halloween costume to me. It may have worked in the 70s but that style just didn't look right for a modern, big budget Superhero movie.

Gahhh, those MOS shots are so beautiful. I still love the overall visual direction of that movie (more so than what I've seen in the BvS trailer).

What would have the Superman cinamatic world have been at this point if Cavill would have gotten the role all those years ago? I wonder...

If it had been for Flyby and that had gotten made, it probably would have gotten sequels. A whole Superman trilogy for the 2000s... something he still doesn't have today. Not the worst deal, I think.

It looks the same to me specially in the trailer. It's almost unnoticeable the size change.

MOS/BvS had enough broken up placement on the shield IMO.

This word is quite often used even if it's not the case most of the times :funny:

it may not be the case for you, but it is the case for me.

that's why i prefer the MOS design more than the BvS design, when it concerns those two suits
