BvS The Superman Suit Thread - Part 4

How do people feel about this look?

Love the hair, beard, and intensity in his eyes. It's when you get to his Wal Mart t shirt and jeans that the problem begins.

As for Routh's body, I don't see what's wrong with people mentioning they think he had wide hips. We are trying to deconstruct why Routh was not successful as Superman. I personally think he had womanish thighs which were unfortunately accentuated by his costume.

Depending on the lighting, the padding and airbrushing really pop out, sometimes too much it seems.

That isn't a still from the movie, though, is it?

I actually love the fact that the musculature is even more accentuated than in MOS, Cav-El looks like Superman ripped straight from the pages and I don't think it looks fake (even though there's obviously padding and such to bring out his physique through the material) I'm actually surprised how natural looking it is in that shot. It almost looks like body paint. Snyder, Wilkinson and the costume making company are geniuses. And of course Cavill worked his ass off to become even bigger for BvS (as was obvious in the candid photos of him with fans during filming). Pretty sure he'll get another shirtless scene in this one too, as a few months ago someone tweeted Larry Fong a photo from MOS oil rig saying it would be great to see his version of shirtless Cav-El and I don't remember his exact answer but it was a very ''wink-wink-smile'' type so I'm sure they'll have one.

Beastfleck and Cav-El shirtless, how will the ladies (and Sawyer's :o) of SHH handle that combo?

I personally don't like the look, but it does look like they went further with it/made it more noticeable compared to the MOS suit. Looks too toy-like at times for me when not in motion.

Not sure you're getting how the chrome underlayer works. There is no airbrushing and it's the same as MOS. It's just the very bright lighting that's being reflected from the floor.

I already talked of the lighting and its affect compared to the MOS suit's design.

Either way (airbrushing or not), the muscles are more noticeable and pronounced this time.

They claim this place to be the Wayne Manor:

"First up is Cavill's Supes, looking like, a) he's inside the burnt-out ruins of Wayne Manor, and b) he's not there to measure it out for new soft furnishing. Below is his adversary, for the majority of the movie at least, in Affleck's Batman."

But I am inclined to believe it is the one where they are fighting after they crash through the skylight.

I disagree. I think Reeve had a naturally big built, bigger than Routh and Cavill too when taking into account the more intensive weight training Cavill had vs Reeve.

Reeve had very little time to prep himself weight training wise during the first Superman shoot and was actually getting bigger still as filming went on.

By the time Superman 3 came around he was at his biggest.

Reeve's suit didn't have the bennefit of any padding like Cavill's and Routh's suit as well.

I think Reeve was 225 lbs at his biggest while Cavill was at 195 lbs for MoS, not sure what weight Routh was at for Returns?

This is valid, but that was in Superman 3. Reeve was fairly slim in the first two. And I think some people forget that SR was supposed to be a follow up to those first two films. So, I don't think Rouths body was that bad in that context. Of course, next to Cavill he is much smaller, but they're platjng two completely different versions of the character.

Routh was just fine for the type of Superman he was playing. And Reeve will always be great, if not the best Superman.

The chrome suit is particularly well lightened here.
Looks like a second skin.
Agreed

Now this is a CURL, not fake wig :)

Althought I know it's for water and kryptonite for the fight with Bats. :(

But it's great :mrk:

Love that pic, especially after seeing the high-res version. Just wow. That suit looks fantastic and I love that we actually have Cav-El with an S curl (even if we never actually see it in the movie, lol).

I could care less about hair over his forhead, the only Superman whose hair I did not like was Rouths; all others whether slicked back (Dean/Henry) or traditional (Christopher) I've liked them all.
Has Henry really gotten bigger this time around? He looked huge in the MOS shirtless scenes and I don't think there was any need to go beyond that.

 There isn't any if you are talking about Cavill's Supersuit.
Umm yes there is.

Look at the top of his boots from MoS here.

Now look at the new image; there's a new gold trimming at the top of the boots.
They may have been shown in other pictures that I may have missed, but the gold trim is a definite addition from MoS.
