The Thunderbolts* News and Discussion Thread

Really looking forward to this movie tonight. Last night I fast forwarded through Falcon & Winter Soldier, Black Widow and even episodes where Yelena appeared in Hawkeye and I remember liking Yelena but I forgot just HOW GOOD Pugh is. That scene in Kate Bishop's apartment between Hailee and her is just fantastic. Pugh has great delivery and reactions, just feels like everything she's doing is improv, and I don't know I might end up liking her more in the end than Natasha because Pugh's Yelena has a lot of charm.

I guess I should quickly fast forward through Ant Man & Wasp to refresh my memory on Ghost.

Movie is out since yesterday in many countries, so yeah, they're already online.
And yes, both scenes spoil the end of the movie (and what's to come).
Gotcha. Better wait, then. It's okay if they're spoiling other movies I won't watch lol, but I'd rather not have the end spoiled.

This was for sure their best since Avengers (excluding Spider-Man and Deadpool). Yelena is a great character the current best character in MCU. I liked US Agent way more in this than the tv series. Ghost was good too with actual time and not just an obstacle like as a villain. I feel like they did a good enough job with handling Sentry.

The last credit scene actually had meaning. I don't think we have had one like that since phase 3, that is how you build up some hype and anticipation.

I don't want to say this was a return to form for the MCU but man, this was really good. Felt like a Phase two/Phase three movie and I liked it a lot
Would you buy Physical media related to Thunderbolts? Blu-ray? Buy it in 4K?

I'll be honest I'm like not hyped to see this at all but I bought tickets to see it tomorrow and man is it expensive now

So good. I really liked this and will be seeing again tomorrow. Loved that the post credit scene
creates more hype for the next film [\spoiler].

Just came back.
Yeah yeah, I really liked this one. It's a movie that should've come two, three years ago. Not only it finally gives the MCU some momentum going forward (a bit too late though) but it also succesfully avoids many of the usual trappings that we've come to expect. Mainly because it focuses on character rather than spectacle. Shocking! Right?

Got back from theater and I enjoyed this more than I thought I would easily up there with GOTG and Winter Soldier the cast was really great and it was a fun time at the theater

9/10

Like I said in the review thread, great movie and 2nd best post Endgame movie for me only 2nd to GOTG3. The movie is fun, develops its themes very well, and has wonderful character work. Proof that these movies are best when we have that emotional investment

Really liked this one. Also agree that it finally feels like we're getting some forward momentum. Hope Phase 6 lives up to it!

Just curious, any character moments for John Walker in this film?

I would say he very prominent in the movie, more than Ghost.
We explore his private life more but he has no big speach or something like that.

There are some minor moments though. His body language is very telling in some scenes.

You know, it's funny. Back at the end of Phase 3/start of Phase 4 people always made a bunch of predictions about who would be the new Iron Man and Captain America of the next saga, the emotional core. I don't recall ever seeing Yelena's name brought up as a candidate back then, but out of all the newer characters (let's say, since Infinity War), she's easily the one I'm most invested in by far. I hope she has a big role in the upcoming Avengers films (which seems to be what they're building toward).

Feels like it's been an eternity since we had a post-credits scene that was actually setting up something that's coming soon, and not some nebulous thing in the distant future.

Is not a secret recipe, they need to make us care about the characters. It's as simple as that. They have failed at that in the last few years, focusing on action, spectacle and jokes. Take The Marvels for example. We didn't learn anything new about Carol Danvers. She was hardly a character in that one.

The Marvels really should have been more of a "never meet your heroes" kind of story, with Kamala getting more and more disillusioned as she gets to know Carol better and sees more of her flaws and failings as a person, and with Carol eventually going through a journey of reflection and self improvement after letting Kamala down in some sort of big way and realizing she wants to start living up to the idea Kamala had of her in the first place.

Also no musical planet, please for the love of God.

Hey, if it gets people to go see the movie who weren't interested before. That is quick, though. Trying to avoid a lull in the numbers, maybe.
