The TMNT Movie Trailer Threads Merged

The man who would have been our new Splinter, Mako has passed away.

RIP, hell of an actor

That's not true? I thought it was because Raph is a loner type who doesn't like taking orders...

I've always akin Raph & Leo to the TMNT versions of Wolverine & Cyclops.
...And he's jealous of Leo.

I was a skeptic about this movie for a long time, even after I saw the trailer for the first time (in low resolution). But now, having actually watched the trailer in 480p and looked at some of the other character designs in it, I'm getting a lot more excitied. While I'd still like an edgy PG-13 live action Turtles movie some day, the animated teaser shown here shows promise, and I think this could be one of those rare movies that manages to squeeze some quality entertainment out of a smaller budget. The animation is actually a lot better than I expected, and it looked very stylish. I hope the actual movie manages to deliver!

It shouldn't be toung in cheek. TMNT comics never really were. It took itself rather seriously.

They weren't robots. They were just regular ninjas. And they were called The Foot because they were a parody of The Hand.
Right, forgot they weren't robots until the cartoon. But anyway, the Foot question was rhetorical, the Hand comparison was what I was implying. They took themselves seriously but stuck them in pretty outlandish situations. It's not serious like Batman or Daredevil were supposed to be serious. It's poking fun at serious.

I can't believe that Mako, who was going to do the voice of Splinter in this flick, recently just passed away...

Simple solution: just get the guy who voices Splinter in the new cartoon.

And about Raphand Leo, it's just a bit of sibling rivalry. Sure they quarrel a lot, but they all love each other very much. They are a family after all, and Splinter taughter honor and discipline.

Man, I thought he was awesome, he's been in everything. Loved him as the Wizard in the Conan films!

Mako, who was to be the voice of Splinter, passed away on Friday, a day after Kevin Munroe made it official. Very sad.

Oh man, Mako may have been perfect for the voice of Splinter. Hopefully they already did the voice recording. Can someone confirm if it had?

Mako was one of the best Japanese actors today. He was great in Pearl Harbor.

I'd rather they cast someone else, actually. I've never been too fond of the new Splinter's voice.

How about actually getting someone Japanese to do so? Mako had that role, but now....:( There are other actors out there that could probably do it, but picturing him saying, "these are troubling times, my sons" would have been cool.

They should get Sonny Chiba. :o

Mako would definitely have been beyond perfect for Splinter. Man.

I think it's a bit silly to think that he might have finished Voice Recording at this point, though, especially since it was JUST made official.

No it doesn't look like he had recorded anything.

He died the day after it was announced he'd be Splinter.
