The Twelve

I still have a few pints of Gummiberry Juice if anyone's interested....

This thread is making me wonder if there will ever be an All WInners or Invaders/JSA crossover... done right that would be cool.

That could be awesome. I doubt it'll ever happen, though. The JSA could arguably be big enough to warrant a company crossover, but the Invaders aren't. Plus, the Human Torch and Toro are dead.

Today's reveal is David Bow--I mean, Dynamic Man.

Probably the best design of the lot. Granted, it helps that decades of Ditko's Electro design have softened me to it. It is very simular (yes, yes, I know, it predates Electro, and as the next offering will note, even the name was used a few times before). And he has pants. Always a plus.

The costume looks better than most Golden Age costumes to me. At least it's got a consistent color theme. It basically looks like Lightning Lad or Black Lightning's costume, but green and yellow.

Indeed.

At least he's got pants...

That was literally my first thought. Dynamic Man and Witness so far have been allowed the honor of pants.

I actually hope they die or go away after the mini. Captain America was much more iconic because he was arguably the only surviving American hero from "the greatest generation." The Agents of Atlas have now returned but 1) they were from the post-war period and 2) they're covert ops guys, so most people don't even know they exist. Having all these other WWII-era dudes pop up (especially if they all have the same "frozen in suspended animation" explanation) is fine while he's dead, but once he's back I hope he goes back to being the main man from WWII.

It would help if not ALL of the heroes were "frozen" and some survived into the modern era via other means. For example, Black Widow worked for a demon who could have easily maintained her youth and vitality (as well as her powers) in exchange for all the nasty souls she gave to him.

While the cast so far aren't terribly big name or even have the best designs, Marvel has been lacking in Golden Age heroes making it into the present like DC has, and has never had much in the way of a JSA-esque team. The closest they have are The Invaders, but the name makes no sense and a few of them are dead now anyway.

If the story manages to make these characters work out in the modern era I see no need to off them just so Cap feels special. Considering JMS's hit-to-dud ratio, though, and that is anyone's guess.

I'm thinking a crossover set in the 40s in the midst of the war. Probably one where both teams exist in the same world. (No dimensional travel. No tricks to force the characters to fight each other)

Who would they fight though? You'd need some heavy hitters to go up against that group.

Not enough, considering the power level of the combined groups. Back in the old days USA had almost all the superpowered beings, that's kinda the basis for Twelve, because the nazi's didn't really have anything. They need a good level threat for the crossover/oneshot to work. If not you get supers fighting hordes of ninjas for a crappy and uninspired fight (bendis). If they did a crossover like that, I want the fight to be hard not just a showcase of nazi's getting stamped on.

Well, DC's Hitler had the Spear of Destiny, so that ups their power considerably. Plus, the Marvel Nazis had guys like the Master Man. Hell, you could even throw in Thor as an enemy, during that brief time that the Marvel Nazis tricked him into helping them out.

That would be cool, thor would be a challenge. I just don't want to see a cake walk.

Thor did pretty well against the Invaders during the encounter I'm talking about, and the JSA does have a more magical bent than the more sci fi JSA, so it'd be a pretty good match.

Plus you can always add in giant Nazi robots and invent new characters just for the event. I would probably have the DC characters policing the homefront, where the Marvel characters would be on the front lines.

Also, you could use that Nazi Super Soldier James Robinson created for The Golden Age, Persifal. He was the one with the power to make other superhumans forget how to use their powers.

And here's Elektro:

That's pretty sweet. I wish we could've seen him hand-drawn. I got worried that he would be CG'd in the comic until I read Weston's comments on Newsarama. I'm not a fan of mixing CGI and hand drawing.
Or the old Spear of Destiny.

I win. :oldrazz:

Seems kinda sucky. Wont get you laid. You're welcome to it.
