If I do recall, the Fiery Mask's origin is thus:

He was a police officer or FBI agent or private detective or something like that named Jack Castle. He was tracking down some psycho mystic/scientist guy who was 20 feet tall for no reason and was rasing an army of zombies to commit crimes for him. He got caught by the Zombie Master, who used his Zombie ray on him. However, Castle had some prior knowledge of techno/magic zombie mind control, which was why he was put on the case, and was able to resist. The bad guy turned up the power, but the thing over loading and exploded, killing him and giving Jack the powers of the four alchemical elements (because of the magic, and all). Now he's super strong and tough (like the earth), has super breath, and heat vision (which is where he got the name). If he has water related powers, I'm unaware of them. Maybe he can breath under water, or talk to fish, or something.
