I've only seen a handful of the TSSM episodes, so on that basis, I don't feel like I'm qualified to make a full assessment of the show.

Watch it! It's an amazing show. I guarantee you the only downside would be you begging for more, and having to deal with the fact that it was replaced by a turd.

But the good news is that the turd might be over. Once the cancellation is official we Spider-Fans can have a celebration.

EDIT: And if USM is canceled, the Avengers Assemble and Agents of SMASH are on their way as well! It's triple the good news!

fixed it...

and that works for me...

So lets pretend the rumors are true and the show is finally cancelled. How do you feel about it and how do you think the show will be remembered a few years from now?

ECSTATIC and doing a happy dance in celebration...

and among true and hardcore Spidey fans, when compared to the Spectacular animated, USM will be remembered for the piece of s**t that it is, regardless and despite it's three-year run... it'll always and forever be outshadowed by the Spectacular animated with it's superior quality look and feel and writing, despite it's shorter run... if SSM was not caught up in the mess that caused it to be cancelled in the first place, I am supremely confident it would have surpassed USM in longevity...

So if USM is cancelled then you wont see Spider-Man anywhere other than the comics for 4 years.

I'm sure there will be younger fans that will have nostalgia for this show.

To me, there is basically Spectacular and the 90's show. After that, it's sort of what degree of nostalgia you have for the other shows. For me, I fondly remember the 60's show (great nod to it in the current issue of ASM!) as this is the show that introduced me to Spidey.

For many fans, USM will be remembered as the show that replaced (rather poorly) and cut short possibly the best adaptation of Spider-Man (including live action movies).

This sums it up perfectly.

I'm sure for some group of kids or whatever, USM will always have some sort of nostalgia tied to it. And for some or even many kids, USM is their introduction to the character. So that will always carry some significant weight with them as they get older. I just hope that if they do end up becoming lifelong fans of Spidey that they actually delve into the richness of his history, i.e. read some good comics and watch some actually really good adapatations, such as the 90s show and TSSM. So they'll learn what type of character Peter and Spider-Man is really supposed to be.

The 90s show and TSSM are the best two examples of animated shows for Spider-Man and everything other animated show doesn't come close imo. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends cause for me, that was my own introduction to the character. It's not a great show by any means but because of that significance to me personally, it means a lot. There will be handfuls of kids that will probably say the same thing for USM but on the whole this was a bad show and a bad representation of the character of Peter/Spider-Man and just about everything else regarding his mythos. Now, let's move on to better things.

This season has been a vast improvement over the first 2, but it might well be a case of too little, too late. I'm sure some kids adore USM (my kids certainly do) but I'm not sure it will inspire the current generation to love Spidey into their adult years like TAS and SSM have done.

My overall problem with Assemble, Agents of SMASH, and Ultimate is Disney's whole "it wasn't made for adults" attitude. Considering that people don't outgrow these characters and adults have the money to buy themselves super hero things, it is in their best interests to keep us happy.

If there's gonna be a slapsticky fart joke filled Spider-Man show for juveniles, at least make a show for the older fans to watch and enjoy. Adults loved Spectaculaf and EMH, yet those shows weren't too mature for children, so the happy medium does exist.

I think most fans will look back on it as a bad Spider-Man cartoon that had some entertaining moments.

Agreed. And not only that, but it's the stupid logic. Since when does cliche and silly jokes equal for kids? There's no need to dumb it down. The best shows are the one you can appreciate as a kid AND an adult.

USM is okay these days btw, the show is very comfortable in its own skin(USM and SHIELD, the team stuff, stupid jokes) but it still manages to pull off some decent episodes.

Not to mention Jeph Loeb's asinine statement of why there are no multiple part story arcs, so that new viewers could catch up easier on it. I'm sorry but we live in the age of the internet where you can view any episode you want online at any time. You don't have to wait for a rerun on tv anymore so you catch up on the story. But wait, I forgot. The producers think the kids watching this are drooling idiots with no attention span.

I hope the rumors are a fourth season are true just to see the haters get humiliated again.

Some new clips from upcoming episodes:

Both Shocker and Cowboy are voiced by Troy Baker.
Feels nostalgic.

Some of you WILL hate the OMD references.
Some might not think about it.

Just watched the Christmas episode. Real disappointed, I had hopes for it because Wacker said this was one they were proud of and I always love a good Christmas special... but man he must have different standards for when it comes to cartoons from editing lots of good comics. The one part I enjoyed was the throwback segment. That felt more like Spider-Man than this show has ever felt. And they were trying to be like the 60s cartoon half the time there, too. I feel sad saying I liked a part where they were trying to be like the 60s cartoon more than them trying to be themselves.

But really, stylistically that segment was very appealing. A nice soft color palette (easier on the eyes than the show's very heavy and glossy colors) with a bit of a pseudo-retro aesthetic. Marvel's current cartoon crop just looks so bland to me, that's why that stood out.

I keep watching a new episode of this show every now and then and I'm at the point where I'm ready for it to end so we get something new and hopefully better.

I think this show picked up during the second season and season 3 has been pretty fun despite some flops.

Won't be difficult at all to top this show.

Until we get some fresh people in there working for Marvel animation, I don't see any hope for some more intelligently crafted stuff.

Agreed. They need an overhaul. Until then I wouldn't be surprised with the current group that we'd get something worse than USM.

As much as I loathe the '67 Spidey 'toon, it was pretty entertaining to see a modern Spidey interacting with Silver Age wiseguys. I also liked the slick reference to Luke Cage's headband, but this was just a so-so episode.
