I never saw the appeal of Bane. Venom I get, he is the anti-Spiderman. But Bane is just everything that was wrong about comics in the 90's.

Venom is way more representative of that then Bane is/was as far as I'm concerned

He's got an interesting backstory, a compelling character arc in his eventually successful attempts to kick his Venom habit, and he's a giant badass. Pretty easy to see the appeal.

You can retcon and rebuild a lame character into awesomeness, but it doesn't erase the memory of Nightfall and you can't pretend it never happened :cmad:

maybe the PTB when it comes to the cartoons and comics just don't see Bane as important enough to bother with a deep characterization past using him as a bruiser

How so? Aside from Eddie Brocks mullet....

Shallow anti-hero who had a 'cool' design that was so attributed to the 90s is more of what I find that was wrong with that era. Bane may have had the look of the ****** edge of the 90s, but he was a good character, way above stuff like Cable and Spawn that was really representative of what was wrong with the 90s

Plus, if Venom=Anti-Spider-Man, what would Anti-Venom equal?

Even in Knightfall Bane was a fantastic character. I'm not exactly sure of the retcons you are referring to.

Me either. As far as I know, Bane had his backstory about being born into serving his father's life sentence at the prison in Santa Prisca right from the start, and getting himself off Venom was a very natural and logical character arc, not a retcon.

So Corp, how'd you come into all these Thor comics? Did you get one of those Marvel DVD-Roms? They quit making those I thought.

Torrents. Shh, don't tell.

Seriously, though, they discontinued the DVDs before I bought them, even the Essentials would be super-expensive to buy all at once, and there's plenty of Thor comics they've never even collected into trades of any kind, Essentials or otherwise. So basically my only options were to get torrents or go broke and still never get all the Thor comics to read. So I said to myself, I said: "F*** it."

That's what I figured. I don't think there's anything wrong with torrenting Golden Age Comics. But, we're not supposed to talk about this.

I will say one last thing though, I ****ing hate reading comics (or anything lengthier than a SHH post) on my CPU screen. I cannot see the attraction to owning a kindle or reading on an iphone. I read on the computer out of necessity. Though, the new sony reader looks pretty sweet.

My computer at home is hooked up to my LCD TV, so I have to slide my little keyboard cart and chair aaaaallll the way up to my TV to read the text when I'm at home. So I'm stuck with a bright-ass LCD comic that's like a foot and a half tall right in my face. It gets a bit annoying. But at work it's not so bad, since they have standard, 20" monitors and my chair is relatively close to the screen anyway.

But I'm reading giant-size comics with John Buscema drawings of Thor and crazy mythological/cosmic s*** in them, so I can't really complain. ;)

Ditto. I got a free month to that Marvel online thing, and I struggled with that a lot myself

Is that the thing that lets you read that Wolverine Vs. Thor stuff?

Yeah, that's part of their digital subscription. The new Spider-Woman series is being released as a motion comic on that before the printed issues hit the shops, too.

I have yet to see a motion comic, nor do I have any desire.

I feel that way when I look up steam punk crap. I don't know why, but I find that **** interesting as hell.

Well. Steam punk crap is easy to figure out. Because just a weird twist in history and that 'could have been us'. But I don't understand the damn food network! :argh:

Porn for fat people. I get a chubby every time somebody mentions creme brulle.
I'm not even paying attention to the food. Damn you Ace of Cakes and your two slightly attractive women! :argh:

I actually could just sit and watch the Food Network for a while myself, and I generally hate all those kinds of shows. But if you introduce food to them, they suddenly become wonderful. I especially like that one show with the bleached-blonde guy who visits diners and gas station restaurants in the middle of nowhere.

The guy from the TGIFridays or Chilies or whatever commercials?
