The reason seems to be some kind of stupid moralisitc idea, I don't know if Rick is different in the books but Rick in the show has killed way too many people in the name of protecting his own to suddenly justify keeping alive the worst person they have ever come across who murdered their friends in front of them, but even take Rick aside, no way does Maggie let it slide in any version of any reality.
Actually Maggie is more gung ho about killing in the books. She beats the crap out of Rick after Glenn's Lucille moment. Rick is pretty much the same except a little more feeble, but his attitudes about things are as all over the place in the books as they are on the show.

Negan in a cell is most likely happening. Otherwise why would they show Morgan building the cell last season?

I'm sure the scene was intended to foreshadow Negan's imprisonment but given how unpopular he's proven to be the writers could simply choose to go another direction.

Negan's proven to be unpopular? Where is this proof?

Based on people on this board, reddit, and previouslytv complaining about how they don't like the character or how he's acted or written. Based also on this season's rating slump. Viewers are apparently uninterested in watching a show that revolves around this guy.

People online have been complaining about how the show or characters or both has been written in some way or another since season 2.

As for the ratings drop, there has been several reasons speculated why that has happened, and none of them have to do with a mass dislike of Negan;

There's been a huge amount of backlash to the show following the premiere of this season and how it handled the death of certain characters, with many feeling that the show took them out for a cheap ratings' boost. Others feel that the show has run its course and that the painfully slow pacing of the show and constant adherence to the same formula is becoming tiresome.

Unless you have some tangible evidence that Negan is grossly unpopular, your theory should be taken with a grain of salt.

Yeah, if anything, Negan is the best thing about this season so far. The problem isn't with the character, it's with how they're choosing to tell this season's story (having each episode focus on one location).

I've not taken to Negan like I did the Governor. Found him much more intriguing while still wanting him to get his. I just find this smirking sophomoric Negan to be annoying more than anything. I need to see him use Lucille and actually do some damage cause right now it's a lot of bluster and hot air and we see big dudes scared of him but I'm not seeing why they are. He was vicious in the premier but hasn't really done anything since.

If Negan is so unpopular, then how come his Funko Pop figurine is the only one that's sold out everywhere?

Lets be honest, people who are doing this, after a little investigation, are fair weather fans. I had two people that were railing about Negan being a bad character, I asked why, they said nonsense like "he's annoying" or "the guys a bad actor". The worst thing I've heard from someone was "the show went too far..." killing Glenn. I just cannot wrap my head around that, especially given this is a comic adoption, and this has been telegraphed for a couple years. But like I said, fair weather fans.

Those are two very legitimate gripes, and I agree with them completely. Negan is by far the most irritating character (and most irritating acting performance) the show has ever seen. His scenes with Carl (played by probably the show's worst actor) were a chore to sit through. I've never outright hated this show, but I'm coming dangerously close. And another episode where the show's main character doesn't factor into the storyline. How is this possible? How did the writers think it would be a good idea to structure the story this way?

By main character you mean Rick? You only just tuning into the show this season because they have been doing episodes that don't feature Rick at all since season 4.

Actually I'm pretty sure the first Rick-less episode was the 3rd episode of season 3 about Andrea and Michonne meeting Merle and The Governor.

Exactly

Ignoring the fact that the Kingdom was in one episode and Ezekiel and Shiva have been non existent for whatever stupid reason (instead of the Tara episode.... uh Kingdom please.) ... pretty solid finale... I enjoyed it.

but who do we think 'BOOTS' is? he jumped into Alexandria at the end... could it be a whisperer? Alpha or Beta?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan just won the Critics Choice Award for best guest performer in a drama series;

These little Savioring s***s touch a mulleted hair on Eugene's head, I swear to Gawd...

Better not do that crap to Aaron again either, or Eugene can eat Dwight's other nut. :o

Who said it was a guy? Could be one of those women from that community Tara met.

that's just how i talk... Alpha is a woman, Beta is a man... i mentioned both of them... oh for the love of god don't act like superwhatever prime and act like i am a sexist _____ phobe.

Clearly Spencer had never seen Die Hard, dude got Ellis'd.

Really good episode, the scavenging mission with Rick and Aaron was interesting, and everything at Alexandria was tense, it built up to a carthartic final scene. Daryl seems to be suffering from a form of PTSD.

The scene with Rick and Michonne was great and that final scene with the group coming back together gave me the feels, there was a bit of a LOTR vibe about the way Rick and co entered The Hilltop. :D It seems Daryl was already there and the way Maggie smiled I guess she's not blaming him like some of the fanboys, the broment with Rick and Daryl weas great, especially when he handed Rick his six shooter! :woot:

As for who the muddy boots belong to, I see lots suggesting it's one of the Whisperer's, but I think it might be the girl that let Tara go from the Oceanside community.

Rick in the books only has one arm, right? This Rick also led the onslaught on the outpost and massacred Negan's troops, did he do that in the book? As for Maggie, I've thought since the season premiere that she is the one that needs to kill Negan.

I don't think he was doing that Reek, he was just saying it could be a woman in relation to the community of women we met in the Tara ep.

Oh Im not, just throwing a possibility out there.

I don't know, I haven't read issues 1-99. I started reading with issue 100, this summer.
