The Walking Dead "The Walking Dead" General Stuff & Thaaaangs Thread - - - - Part 13

A handful is what like 3 episodes?

Go on gurl. Film some more MCU films and get roles in other films. Can probably nab an indie role or 2.

And it would be great to see if they might carry her character (Okoye) over on a Disney series too.

I can totally see them doing this; the private life of the Dora Milage, Wakandan politics, and what the Dora Milage get up to in their free time.

New ‘Walking Dead’ Spinoff In The Works, AMC Executives Confirm
A new spinoff of The Walking Dead is in the works, AMC Networks confirmed during its quarterly earnings call with Wall Street analysts.

Asked to elaborate on CEO Josh Sapan’s mention of a third zombie outing, COO Ed Carroll said the spinoff is in “active development.” He declined to offer many more specifics, including whether it would fall under an existing distribution agreement with Hulu.

“We’re not at a stage where we’ll be announcing its plans to premiere,” Carroll said. “But we have hired creative people that have pitched story outlines. We feel very good about the development of that series. We’re not in a position to talk about partnerships in terms of other territories or ancillary windows, other than that there’s a healthy appetite for it and we’ve had a number of conversations with a lot of players in the space.”

The company’s fourth-quarter results beat Wall Street estimates, with adjusted earnings per share of $1.92 clearing the bar by 8 cents and revenue of $773 million coming in more than $15 million above analyst expectations.

So the plan is to make mini-series for all our faves and then have one big event where they all meet up and come together again? Where have I seen this?

FInally caught up with last season, it was better than I thought it would be once Rick left, but his absence is still leaving a big hole in things

I was hoping to see Thomas Payne at Awesome Con last weekend, but he had to cancel his panel on Sunday. I was absolutely heartbroken. Apparently he had a family emergency. :(

So since this is about general stuff and not just the show, I guess it's worth pointing out that Rick was shot pretty close to his heart in the recent issue of the comic. Now, like Andrea, we see if he pulls through or not.

I guess we'll see if Maggie returns in Season 10...

I hope so... and they better not announce it to the world if it happens. (Like they did with Andrew leaving) I want to be surprised so I might be staying away from threads like this one

If its true, props for the fake solicits.

Kirkman said he planned on doing at least 300 issues, but would end it earlier if he wasn't having as much fun writing it. People seemed to get 300 stuck in their heads and it took it as a certainty. The last issue was such a big change to the story that the end seemed closer than ever. I didn't expect it to be now.

It's interesting that Kirkman launched a surprise new book last July and now he's ending one...

Seems weird to end on 193.just a weird number. Might as well have gone to a clean 200

Even though I fell pretty behind on the books, I'm so so bummed to hear this news. With the decline of most other aspects of the Walking Dead franchise (the lowering quality of the TV series and especially Fear TWD, losing main cast members on the shows, the death of Telltale Games), the comic just felt like the one invincible thing that would always be there.

Despite what Kirkman said, something about the suddenness of everything feels a little fishy to me. Doesn't feel like this was planned as far back as he's seeming to suggest. But if this is truly it, I'm definitely grateful for all the great comic books we've had. Hopefully we can get a continuation or spin-off of some sort, I need more Negan in my life.

Yeah something is weird to me too. Like I'm just weird but ending on 193 just seems so random with 200 right there. And then it was all of the sudden

I think it is easier for the massive compendiums, which the first three had 48 issues. One issue isn't going to affect the last one much. 7 might.

New ‘Walking Dead’ Series Casts Three Lead Roles (EXCLUSIVE)

The recently announced third “Walking Dead” series has cast three major roles, Variety has learned exclusively.

Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, and Hal Cumpston will all star in the new series, which is said to follow two female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the zombie apocalypse. A second lead female role has yet to be cast.

AMC would not comment on specifics for any of the characters, but sources describe Mansour’s character as a good-natured rule breaker who lives for today. She is likable and funny on the outside but sad on the inside. Mansour recently wrapped shooting a guest starring role on the CBS drama “Madam Secretary” and previously starred in the horror film sequel “Unfiltered: Dark Web” for Blumhouse Productions. Her other TV credits include “SEAL Team,” “The Resident,” “Bull,” “How To Get Away With Murder,” and “Law & Order: SVU.”

I'm going to assume one of the female protagonists is Princess- a fairly recent character who some of the survivors from Alexandria met while on their way to meet up with another community.

'The Walking Dead' season 10 will focus on paranoia and PTSD

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Let’s start with the basics in terms of time frame. When are we picking up with season 10? We left with a huge snowstorm. How much time are we looking at in terms of passing between seasons 9 and 10?
ANGELA KANG:
We’re passing a few months, probably. I feel like we mark time on the show based on the children. So we saw Rosita pretty heavily pregnant at the end of last year, and I’ll say that that state has changed. A little time has passed. They’ve been living with some of the Whisperers’ rules, and we’ll see that some things have changed and some people have done some unexpected things in the time that has passed to deal with the trauma at the end of last season.

Is there anything in terms of the look and feel, or just thematically, that you guys are going for in season 10?
Yeah, one of the great things from the comic book that we got really excited about, there’s this idea of propaganda and paranoia, and this idea of “silence the Whisperers,” which Robert Kirkman played really well. So there’s definitely a feeling as our group gets into this conflict that keeps building between the Whisperers that’s very different from how the Saviors war played out, where there’s just elements of paranoia but kind of a Cold War feel.

There’s a lot of brinkmanship and things like that, because the Whisperers are so different. Alpha pulled her big move on our people by being in disguise and sneaking around in the middle of a fair. It’s just open for all to see, and somehow nabbing these people. That’s a very different way of operating than any of the other people that they’ve had to deal with, really. So we’ve been having a lot of fun playing with that feel for the season.

And how do the allies respond to that?
We’re dealing with a lot of things also to do with people’s trauma, and the idea of what is real or not real. Things having to do with illusion, or just memory breaking, PTSD. So there’s a lot of stuff that we’re doing that’s pretty unique to the feel of this season. We’re also having a lot of fun with the fact that the last time our people were in a war, it was automatic weapons and gunfire, but we’re just not really in that period of time anymore. So we’re working on some battle stuff that is unlike anything we’ve done on the show, which I’m super-excited about. [Director and executive producer Greg Nicotero] has been in rehearsals for some stuff we’re about to shoot that I think is pretty cool. That’s some of the stuff that look-wise, feel-wise is unique to the start of season 10.

You mentioned the Whisperers, who obviously passed that ultimatum about not passing through their land in a very emphatic fashion. What can you say about them specifically in season 10?
We’ll be telling more of their side of the story in season 10. We will get some interesting backstory, and some more insight into some more characters within that group. We will learn more about Alpha and Beta. They’ve got their own problems, too, within their group, so there will be some interesting back-and-forth between our two groups as they deal with this conflict at the border.

Obviously, we know that our people have crossed the border before. The border continues to be an issue, and as with borders in our world and in life, what is a border? It’s something where one group has said, “Hey, this is the border. Don’t cross.” Our people are dealing with, “Do we live with that? Can we live with that? What does that mean?” When they crossed the border at the end of last season, they discovered that the Whisperers weren’t there, or at least they think they’re not.

But there are some pretty strange and interesting things that happen around that story having to do with those lines, and whether you can cross them, and what happens when you’re caught. And of course, Samantha Morton as Alpha, and Ryan Hurst as Beta — they are so great. We love them as people, and as performers I think they bring so much to those roles. So I’m really, really excited for the audience to see what they’re bringing to this season because there’s much more to explore with them.
