The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 3 Episode 10 "Home" Discussion Thread

Also amazing what bad shots the main characters suddenly become. Granted, Rick has lost his grip on sanity, but still.

To be fair it's probably easier shooting slow walkers than it is shooting at people shooting at them at all kinds of directions.

Who was the guy who got shot in the tower? Looked like the Woodburry nerd guy. But I didn't check.

No clue, but definitely wasn't Milton "the Woodbury nerd guy".

If anyone of you remember, they were driving around in trucks putting headshot after headshot on walkers when Herchel's farm was overrun. A practically impossible shot. The shooting is unrealistic but I can live with it. Lets remember that the governor was just standing there to, I think he even turned his head to avoid a bullet. Hell, the rifleman in the guard tower was standing upright over the railing, making himself as big a target as possible, instead of getting into a prone position.

Let's talk about the guy in the watch tower. First of all, if the governor's just sending a message, why is this guy there? Obviously he's the worst shooter ever since he had a perch and a courtyard full of people and managed to hit no one, but why is he there in the watch tower to be sacrificed? Because if this is a hit and run mission, then he has zero chance of getting out of that guard tower alive and retreating with the Woodsburg crew.

If it was just a hit and run, why did they fire a thousand rounds at Rick and his group? Were they intentionally missing with precious, scarce ammunition? Does any of this make sense?

I know most here loved this episode, and I don't mean to nitpick it, but that raid at the end makes zero sense to me, and Kirkman's answers on Talking Dead don't hold water.

Glad someone else remembered all that incredible shooting in Season 2. Yeah they weren't shooting back, but still.

To be fair, it's quite possible that the Governor has totally lost it by this point, so that's why the raid made so little sense. He could have killed them all if he wanted to.

Lets go back to the farm shoot out in the season 2 finale. Glenn and Andrea were the ones shooting from the car while T-Dog (who's been dead for a while now)and Maggie were the drivers. Jimmy, who bit the dust shortly after, was shooting from the RV. Hershel was also shooting when the Zombies overran the farm, but was mostly ducking for cover during the Gov. attack. Glenn didn't shoot anybody or fired a gun during last night's episode. And Andrea was at Woodbury while the Gov. attacked the prison. It was mainly a Maggie, Carl, Michonne (which was confirmed on Talking Dead isn't as good with a gun as she is with her katana), Carol (who didn't even use a gun last season), and Rick, who was shooting from the ground and trying not to get himself killed at the same time. I'm saying since some of you claim they were good shooters at the farm that most of the good shooters were either dead or didn't participate in the showdown with Gov. They were caught off guard eventhough they were supposed to be expecting the Gov. to show up.

So Andrea will be in charge of Woodbury... I give two minutes before it gets destroyed. :sus

I didn't see it as a hit and run. Rick's group put up a good fight and The Governer's posse backed off.

If it was an all out assault he would have presumably brought more than three guys (four if you count the driver).

He's got those military vehicles back in the town, and a few dozen able men.

Not before Walker Bombing the place.

I want to say the Governor also planned it so he could attract more walkers toward the prison with all the noise forcing the prison crew into the prison. Sort of trapping them like rats. I know I'm wrong, though...

They sure went through those inmates fast.

You have to wonder if they would have lasted longer if Rick and company never showed up.

So continues the Curse of Camp Dinner Bell.

Exactly. Plus, you gotta take into consideration:

Carl is just a kid shooting a revolver - yes he might be good at taking out slow moving targets at a short distance, but having to shoot at a man shooting back, from that distance - there's no way he was going to make ANY shots (pistols are only accurate for about a nine yards). The range of the firefight in general was pretty far - the further away, the harder the target is to hit. Hershel was focused on the zombies coming after him, not the Governor, and Rick is the only person there who has any experience being in a real fire fight. People can say whatever they want, but a shoot out like that is ENTIRELY different than pegging zombies, in ANY given circumstance. You're not worried about a zombie shooting back the moment you peek your head from behind cover. You don't have the advantage of shooting a something you don't consider human (studies have shown that its easier to shoot and kill when the target is dehumanized).

I figure he was testing/toying with them - trying to get a feel for how prepared they are while sending a message - "I just rolled up here, killed one of your people and left you a bunch of zombies...and I was just having fun."

I have a question guys (sorry about this btw) but I didn't understand that scene where Merle accidentally rips Daryl's shirt, what was that all about?

besides the kickass tattoos, he had big long scars from apparent beatings he got as a kid, looks like from their father.

There were scars all over Daryl's back, likely from beatings, looked like a belt or whip of some kind.

The gist of that scene was pretty much that Merle finally realized that when he took off as a kid and left Daryl behind with their father (which we've heard about multiple times now), that the beatings Merle used to get started going to Daryl. Hence, the reason Merle's attitude did a complete 180 and he headed back to the prison with him.

Oh okay, now I get it. Thanks :yay:

When the truck crashed through the gates into the compoud, no one inside knew who was driving it. I know I was hoping it was Tyrese & Co. coming back to save the day. Even though they just saw their walker barrier get destroyed, it looked like the prison group was unsure whether they were friend or foe as well.

Truthfully, even though they ended up needing Daryl to save the day, a few more episodes out in the wild with Merle would have made the return that much more rewarding.

I'm anxiously awaiting Daryl Dixon's new book, "101 Uses for a Hatchback Door". :wow:

That was an awesome episode. I love it when it seems like a fairly quiet episode and then all hell breaks loose in the last few minutes. And I had a feeling Daryl's reunion with Merle was only going to last about as long as it did. I'm glad Merle came back with him, since they actually need him now.

And poor Axel...although he was the best part of Talking Dead last night. Somebody needs to give Hardwick a sedative.

I'm glad they stopped his "jokes" in-between the episodes. He ruined every dramatic scene.
