The Walking Dead The Walking Dead Season 5 Episode 11 "The Distance"

I can totally understand Rick's deep trust issues (how many times has some slick-talking guy given the speech about how wonderful and safe his community is?), but punching Aaron was excessive and over-the-top.

Actually, if you listened to their conversation afterwards, the punch was actually many-layered.

It not only put a crimp in whatever "plans" Aaron had (had he had actual bad intentions) to give time for the crew to scramble and check things out, but his reaction to the punch (in Rick's mind) also helped Rick gauge Aaron.

Just looked at the Bleeding Cool article about the idiots on Twitter throwing hissy fits about a gay couple being on the show. These ones made me laugh the most...
I'm not a homophobic but that gay couple just ruined The Walking Dead
i have been watching the walking dead for years with my kids, then with no warning u throw gays in there, I'm disappointed
I don't discriminate against gay people. Plenty of my co-workers are gay. I just rather not have young children exposed to the BS on TV
Seriously, a bloody violent show that rarely goes an episode without killing a living character = fine for my kids

But two men kissing for a few seconds = HOW COULD YOU EXPOSE MY CHILDREN TO THIS?!?!

What a bunch of f***ing drama queens. :o

the two men kissing was the only positive upbeat thing about an otherwise depressing show. It feels like its been so long since we saw some actual genuine affection on the show. I mean there's Glen with Maggie but she's been in a funk given whats happened with her recently. If anyone has problems exposing their children to inappropriate material (and they should), then they shouldnt have been watching this show with them to begin with as this isnt a family show. Its for teens and older

I liked this episode a lot. Everyone is at rock bottom and are willing to go to Alexandria with the exception of Rick. Despite everything, Rick keeps his guard up and isn't willing to give this stranger in Aaron an inch. He is just as worn as the rest of the group, and is even more cautious due to their circumstances. I like that it was Michonne that convinces him the group needs this and then she comes back to her senses once more things Aaron is hiding from them come to light.

And I really really loved the nod to Dale teaching Glen the ins and outs of the RV.

That was a really moving ending, especially the callback to how Rick and Michonne said they heard nothing outside the walls of Woodbury and Terminus, and this time he hears children laughing. The close-up on Rick's eyes, and how they widen and the emotion in them when he hears.

It was the moment where he really starts to believe that the third time's the charm, that Alexandria really is different from Woodbury and Terminus.
I agree. It was such a wonderfully shot scene.

Although, for the record, I have slight issue with Woodbury being lumped in with Terminus. Terminus was a lair of cannibalistic psychopaths. Woodbury was not a bad place. In fact, Woodbury could have, and for a while probably was, a really good place, it just had a shady and unstable leader who ended up ruining everything.
Well, to be fair, they did round up walkers for their entertainment. Plus, the Governor was doing a lot of shady **** without the town's knowledge.

Anyways, really good episode. Nice to finally see a change of location. No idea what Glenn was doing in this episode though, he really should have been paying enough attention to see a whole horde of walkers on the road in front of them, no excuse for that...

That was Rick's fault in the first place for taking an alternate route instead of the route Aaron gave, which was cleared of walkers thanks to his community.

Also last season during that mysterious flu outbreak as Daryl, Bob, Michonne, and Tyreese went out on a run for medicine and supplies for the prison. Somehow even Daryl, while driving in broad daylight, wasn’t paying enough attention to notice an even bigger horde of walkers (than the ones Glenn ran into) on the road in front of them. No excuse for that either.

I watched the show with my 15 and 8yo sons.

A) It's nothing they haven't seen before, and being a non-Neanderthal, I've explained how this concept works.
B) Watching this will NOT make them crave man-love if they didn't already. And even if they someday decide they do, it's not going to make them any less my sons.

I just think it's hilarious that it's 2015 and some people still think like this. All they're doing is just making themselves look stupid.

Oh, I don't think that's going to ever go away completely.

I mean, hell, it's pretty bold, really. Just look at Airbender. People freaked out over a (strongly) suggested same-sex relationship. One side with glee, the other in horror.

That kiss was a breath a of fresh air. So much love and passion, le sigh.

Decent episode again, though things need to ramp up soon for me, I like the guessing game of trying to figure out if Aaron was shady or not (never read the comics). And man, Rick is just awesome now, and the ending proved he still has plenty of humanity left.

Exactly what I would've said. You don't mind them watching people sometimes literally get eviscerated but two guys kissing is too far?

If it were two women somehow I think their reaction would have been less

they should add that as an emoticon

It was a good episode. I loved the happy ending after so many depressing moments. Also liked the classic horror elements and the tease with Glenn almost getting bit. The gay controversy is kind of surprising. It's such a brief moment where they establish the characters as a couple. It's not even something that would affect the show in a major way since these are side characters. I remember they used to tease Daryl might be gay in interviews. I can only imagine the backlash from that. I think if anybody has a problem with this I'd rather them not watch the show anyway.

Rick shooting the walker with the flare gun was awesome.

Those are always the best arguments.

I don't hate _______, but...

I have friends or co-workers that are _______, but...

Someone should make a zombie movie where the virus only affects narrow-minded, bigoted fundamentalists.
