CD Projeckt Red The Witcher 3

Sapkowski didnt make a bad deal. He got his books far more recognition than they would have had. Monetarily he may not have made the best deal, but he has no doubt sold more books because of those games.
CDPR got his books translated for the US. Look at the new covers. Notice what they are?

We don't have the game because of him either. Its his source material, but CDPR made the decision to make them. He had no involvement and wanted nothing to do with them. He had nothing to do with their success, success far great then what he was able to produce with the characters he created.

Geralt, Triss, Yen, Ciri, and everyone got their "face" from CDPR.

And personally I think they did it better. One thing I really like about the games is how they took the source material and made it more unique. I really like the books, but there is a generic quality to the world of the Witcher. What CDPR did was give it a look and feel a lot like Peter Jackson. The big different there was that Tolkien's books did a really good job of that already, which is why you have such a divide with the fans over those adaptations.

Without the source material, the game would not exist. That is what I am saying, not that he was directly involved in development. I do see what you're saying, but to dismiss the novels because the author is an ass is a real disservice the material as a whole not just the books, but the games as well.

I don't dismiss the novels. I said I quite like them. It was why I was so hyped for Ciri and Yen in the Witcher 3.

I am dismissing the author though. his words are rather meaningless as he spouts a lot of nonsense. Also amazing how a book series he gave up on suddenly got a new book after the success of the game series. Pretty convenient. :cwink:

Fair enough. On a side note, I would really love to see CDPR make a Fallout, WoD or Ravenloft game down the road.

Fallout would be interesting, just to compare and contrast. With my one track mindedness, I'd love to see them make a Star Wars Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker game.

I'd love to see CDPR take on a post-apocalyptic game after Cyperpunk, but I think I'd prefer if they did a different property other than Fallout. Either base it off something lesser known, or a new IP would be great.

That being said, if they did take on Fallout it'd be a damn good reason to get excited about Fallout again.

I just finished the last book in the series and I don't know how to feel lol

The ending of the books, and how it relates to the start of the first game have been a bit off putting for me, continuity wise. I'm currently watching recaps of the first two games, and I think I'm going to watch some cutscenes from 3, as opposed to starting a new game over.

I couldn't find anything concrete on why they left, but this game is being worked by the lead designer of Wild Hunt.
That's a great thing to have on his record lol. Makes that game at least worth checking out.

Netflix Producing Witcher Series

Netflix will develop and produce a new show based on The Witcher Saga, the series of eight novels by Andrzej Sapkowski that inspired the hugely popular CD Projekt Red RPG games.

Sapkowski - who does not profit from the game series - will serve as a creative consultant on the series. “I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories," he explained in a press release, "staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing."

Tomas Baginski - who directed the intro videos for all three Witcher games, as well as the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer - will direct at least one episode per season.

It's not clear as yet what specific stories the series will follow. Executive producers Sean Daniel and Jason Brown (The Expanse), said: “The Witcher stories follow an unconventional family that comes together to fight for truth in a dangerous world. The characters are original, funny and constantly surprising and we can’t wait to bring them to life at Netflix, the perfect home for innovative storytelling.”

Platige Image, a Polish production and visual effects house will co-produce. Executive producers Baginski and Jarek Sawko emphasised that the books' subtexts will not be lost in the adaptation: "There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre. It is a story about today and today’s challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover. It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts.”

No release date, casting, or further directorial choices have been revealed at time of writing.

I created a thread in the Misc TV section: http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=530159

Can we get a time machine, bring Viggo Mortensen from 2001, and then give him Ryan Goslings body?

If so, I'd say that's Geralt right there.

I'm pretty ure most of the female fans find viggo's body fine as it is from what saw when he was talking about his last movie last year. which was on a talk show where he was playing a dad to large family. lol and Ryan G would find it weird some like viggo need s steal his looks .

this news is pretty much every where

Zach McGowan or someone like him is my ideal choice for Geralt. Mid-30's-ish, gravelly voice. Excellent shape but not overly muscled.

There will be similarities, but the Director will look to his 'own path'

The Witcher brand has never been as hot as it is right now, in large part thanks to the incredible success of Wild Hunt. As a result, Netflix has agreed to take on a series based on the Andrzej Sapkowski stories, which as it turns out will deviate at least somewhat from CD Projekt RED's vision of Geralt of Rivia. Speaking with Inn Poland, The Witcher Netflix series’ director Tomasz Bagiński talked about the comparisons between the games and how the series will handle the protagonist.
Bagiński expressed praise for CD Projekt RED's work on the series but explained that the novels left a window of interpretation open in telling the same story. The version of Geralt of Rivia that we see in the games is far more concrete than the one that Sapkowski describes in the novels, so as a result, the Netflix series will be looking to take advantage of those creative freedoms.
There still isn't much known about the show, including when we will get to see it. Though, given that the series was just announced, we are likely a ways off from it seeing the light of day.

Getting back into this after having my HD wiped and losing all the DLC which I never got to play but now can again. Blood and Wine is so good, really like all the additions to the game and the quests are as varied, funny and creepy in equal measures. This is still one of these best games ever, only the horse controls are the only thing that annoys sometimes but its a drop in the ocean of all the great stuff, worth owning an Xboxone/PS4 for alone, an all time great.
