:csad: Soze that sucks!

I don't know why it would be deleted no rule against penis talk. You'd think it would be listed under the 'vulgarity' rule, but there's nothing there except a warning about excessive language. So in my opinion, bring on the penis! :oldrazz:

However, it is a 'PG-13' site :cwink: and that seems to toe into a low-class R rating depending on the joke.

You heard the woman! Give her penis!

I don't see any problem with it. There's a suffocating air of misery all around the Bat-boards right now, and it could sorely use some levity, even if it comes in the form of weiner jokes.

To me, it seems too much like exerting control than upholding any sense of decency. These were popular threads that generated much good vibes and laughs in both 2005 and 2008, before C. Lee was modding. And with all the borderline racism and sexism running rampant on those boards amidst the general hostility, I think it's laughable that a bit of good-natured smut is what is deemed offensive.

So, will I stop it now? Sure. But come July 2012, I'm starting a Penis Quotes threads, and if C. Lee wants to ban me for it, so be it. If I'm going to get banned after 10 years on the boards due to mod *****iness, I can't think of a better way to go out than with an excess of penis jokes.

Would you say that they're acting.....like *****? :rimshot:

Keyser goes out on a penis.

There's no other way it could go.

Maybe he has a thing against the male sex organ because perhaps he only got his position as mod by...doing something to one so he is like forever scarred at the mere mention or insinuation of the male sex organ?

I don't even know the poster much but that's silly. Poppycock! :awesome:

I'm waiting for the infraction hammer to fall.

Although, this is the basement. We're probably pretty safe ;)

I got an infraction for something I said in this thread earlier this year....so, look out!

I'd say that's going a bit too far, trusty. No need to go for all-out slander against the guy.

Besdies, we know the truth is that, when he was a young boy, a penis killed his parents in Crime Alley.

BRING IT!!! :cmad:

I've been infracted once. That's right, I'm a bad boy! I'm not scared!

(it's all Keyser's fault, infract him!)

I think a warning would suffice.

So, yeah. You're all warned..... or are you ? : awesome :

I'll warn you! :argh:

That's right. I'm warning you that we're going to send twy after you.

Byrd, that's cause you pissed off a new guy. The report button is just a click away... :ninja:

We've got about a month left.

GET. YOUR. ****ING. ASSES. IN. GEAR!

Now that the end of the season is slowly approaching, I wanted us to start a discussion about how we move forward in the next game continuity-wise.

I've talked to some of you as the season has progressed about your thoughts on what we should do. With all of your feedback and ideas, I've come up with a few options.

Option 1: Post Flashpoint/New DCU Continuity

Now, this one would be the most simplest. The comics are changing their continuity, and we could just as easily fall in line with them and then branch out and tell our own stories within the new DCU. Now, some of the changes in the new DCU don't sit well with fans, myself included. But we still won't have a full scope on how the post relaunch DCU will look until next month, or possibly the month after that.

Option 2: Post Brightest Day/Pre Flashpoint Continuity

This was originally going to be the jumping off for point for the new RPG when a WoH relaunch was announced, back during the early stages of Brightest Day. This would still serve as a good jumping off point for many characters, but some people have said it may not be the best place to take the RPG if we're trying to attract new blood, and an RPG based on the new DCU may be better for doing that.

Option 3: User Created Continuity

Now, this one would be trickier to swing. Upon me telling them the option, they would instantly retort "It's like Ultimate DC!" without giving me time to explain it.

The idea is that we make our own continuity, but not without some ground rules. First off, the RPG would start at least ten years after the start of the superhero age, and your character continuity would still have to have stuff from the comics. Like, say you didn't want Batman to go through Knightfall, that would be fine....but there would have to be a basic blueprint regarding the characters. Superman still has to be from Krypton, Batman's parents were murdered in front of him when he was a child and he lost a sidekick so many years ago, Wonder Woman is tied to the long lost race of the Amazons, and so on. Like, after ten years, the Justice League would have long been established and went through more than a few roster changes.

As important as posting samples are in apps, the important part in this one would be continuity and history. You would have to have an incredibly detailed and thought out continuity on the character's past. That has downsides in and of itself.

Option 4: Mix Options 1 and 3

Okay, you like the new DCU for the most part....but, you don't like that there's no JSA, or the fact that Barry Allen is still alive and Wally West is nowhere to be seen, or that all the superheroes are only supposed to be around for five years at the point.

In that case, you change it up and make them be part of this new DCU. This option mixes one and three and gives us a kind of patchwork continuity, where we use the new continuity of the relaunch as a guide, while picking and choosing what to add and what to throw out. This would have to be a big collaboration from everyone, and I think maybe this one would be one of the better options if we chose it.

Keep in mind, this is just a discussion. I want us to start talking about it now as the comics wrap up their final month before the relaunch.

I say go with the DCnU stuff that is coming up in September. Our core of the Basement...we are all getting older and having more real life things coming our way. The Basement needs new blood just like it needs us to be more active. The easier of the two is clearly to get new blood. Appealing and advertising in the Fan-Fiction section makes sense and could/should help...but I say we go with the DCnU relaunch cannon to make people not feel intimidated.

I'm not even going to consider option 1 until I read at least 3 months of new continuity.

That being said, I have a feeling it'll be option 4.

Option 2 will probably keep new players away (we've got so many of those), and players who haven't been keeping up with the DCU.

Option 3 doesn't have to be too hard. We could just pick a different point in DC continuity and take it from there. We'd just have to decide at what point. For example, we could go back and restart things back at season 1, just after OWAW.

Honestly, I don't think DCnU is the best option to go with if we're going to attract new players. The majority of people who reacted to the relaunch didn't like the direction it was going, and solicitations barely helped in the long run. There are certain titles that have been met with intrigue, but there are others that haven't. It's a very divided threshold right now between comic book fans, and we won't know where everything stands until October, when all of the #1 issues have come out... and even then, like wieg said, we'd barely know what the direction of everything is heading into. It could go very badly, or it could end up being good. But my prediction is that it'll still be an incredibly mixed bag, and that's not a good enough basis for bringing new players in if some of them hate what's being done with their favorite characters.

My vote is Option 3. Option 4, however, I wouldn't be opposed to.

I would probably go with option 3 myself. It would be quite a bit of work but for the new players, it would give them much more sense of ownership in this adventure. Personally, I detested how Brightest Day ended. I'm also a bit uneasy of using DCnU until at least January when things have a good direction. By then most of the initial arcs are underway and possibly overall direction for the comic itself is established.

I've been thinking we don't even start the new season until January.

In the meantime, we figure out what direction we want it to take. Then we make this viral and start advertising it on the Hype, slowly and secretly, getting more blatant as we get closer.

Think Project Ikaris...;)

Maybe. I think a gap that long could do more harm than good. I remember last year we had a big loss to start out the season after the previous season spent over a month so being mostly inactive so a few folks could wrap their stuff up.
