The "World of Heroes" DC RPG Season V Signup/OOC Thread

Actually, I think we should leave it out. I mean, if you're applying for the character in question it's a given you know their powers and bio. The gutcheck will come in the sample post where it shows how much you know....like when I applyed for Connor Hawke...:csad:
Even if a character's player knows their powers, the other players should know as well. For instance, if I hadn't included Metallo's control over machines and technopathy in his "powers" portion of the app, and I was fighting MB's Superman at some point, Superman, as a character, should damn well know what Corben is capable of, but he might not because MB isn't too familiar with Metallo and Supes' history in the comics.

But he could easily go to wikipedia for it.

But he wouldn't have to if it was included in the app, so why bother removing it?

Besides, wikipedia sucks for most DC villains anyway. Christ, I had to rewrite most of the Parasite's bio there from scratch.

That's fair. How about a compromise, we'll include the powers part but no need to go into detail with a bio?.

How about a short bio of important life changing events?

I don't see why the powers thing should be removed. Now, the brief origin isn't needed.

Perhaps what could be included would be where you plan to take off from continuity-wise? For some characters who have had their own titles, perhaps it is crucial. And example was when I took up Aquaman and was going from the Waterbearer arc.

How about making it optional?

I'll be honest. I don't want to have to worry about typing up powers and bio when I've got a sample post and story arcs to think about.

Well the origin stuff shows the guy knows what has happened. That way, people can help inform him on what they don't know. Maybe make it a two sentence origin?

I'm fine with just a short bio, like "John Corben; criminal; car crash; brain put in robot body; various alterations over the years; can now control and assimilate machines and reconfigure body at will."

But whatever we go with in the end regarding the biography part of the app, "powers" is still a necessity IMO.

Any thoughts on the other thing I mentioned in my previous post? I edited pretty quickly but you guys already posted so you may not have noticed.

If anything, what I mentioned may be important to add to the app depending on the character as far as what has and hasn't taken place for their continuity from the comics.

Remind me what they were, I'm watching porn while posting and my attention span isn......

Here's how I think the app should be. Just my opinion though.

DC RPG Season V Application

Character you would like to play:

Powers:

Recent History: (Two complete sentences)

Group your character is aligned with (if applicable):

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you plan to do with the character you've chosen (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?):

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:

Color and font you plan on using for your characters speech (Might not be applicable but it makes the roster pretty):

Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?

Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least one line of dialogue):

I'd be happy with that.

I personally very strongly wish to keep the three reasons you wish to play the character. But at the same time I'd want it to be taken more seriously. That can also be used to separate from people who actually know the characters from those who don't. Fun and games are...fun, but I don't think when people list out "who doesn't love the goddamn batman?" it is just dumb.

I think actually thought out reasons should be required on the application.

I say remove the three reasons. You've already got a section for plans and goals. The reasons should be there.

A short bio is useful for us who may know nothing about the character. Although a link to a good bio would be just as good for me, and would contain descriptions of powers while shortening the app.

Just look above you lazy bastard. :o

This?

EDIT: So you all know before you suggest this, the only real way to fix the issues of having to tweak certain character's colors would be to have the background boxes white. But I assure you, that I have tried with just one and it looks really awful. The black background box looks the best with the picture being in the background. Perhaps we can add in the black background box to act as a border, and keep all the font white; looks better than I thought.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype? If so, please post your desired picture for the roster.

See what you think.

I think you are all looking at three reasons wrong because the fact that people just put reasons that are pointless and to look funny. It could be important if taken seriously.

Give me three for why you want to play Aquaman right now.
