Okay, well, I feel like an ass for this... but peer pressure got the best of me. After getting multiple okay's from every one of the active game moderators, aswell as some fellow players not even on the official staff, I've decided to withdraw my Batwoman application at the last minute. In her place is a character that has needed to be played for the last four months, but hasn't, and therefore is up for grabs on a first come/first serve basis...
DC RPG Season VI Application
Screen Name: Master Bruce
Character you would like to play (please include the color and font you plan on using to portray the character): The Flash (Wally West)
Powers and Brief Origin (provide at least two sentences): The Flash is a master of speed, able to run physically faster than the speed of light, occasionally tapping into what is known as "The Speed Force", enabling him to perform astounding feats of energy. Wally, in particular, has shown superhuman traits such as controlling lightning, creating tornadoes, vibrating his molecules through solid material, and overcoming gravity by running up and down veritical obstacles.
The third to bear the infamous legacy of the Scarlet Speedster, Wally West recieved his powers in a duplicate accident that turned his uncle-by-marraige, Barry Allen, into The Flash before him. Operating as Allen's sidekick, Kid Flash, for a number of years, Wally was prompted to don the costume when Barry sacrificed himself to save the world in a time of crisis. Since then, Wally has honored the legacy by becoming one of the most legendary heroes of the modern day, and Keystone City's protector. He is currently a husband and a father, his wife being Linda Park-West and his children being twin infants.
Group your character is aligned with (if applicable): The Justice League Of America; Justice League Elite; The Scarlet Speedsters; Founder of the original Teen Titans.
Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar. One to explain what you plan to do with the character you've chosen. The other to explain why you've chosen this character. (i.e. What are your goals? Will you be doing anything different with the character than is usually seen?): What I want to do with Wally is place him in a situation that tests the absolute limits of what he can truly do, and all that he could potentially sacrifice to get there. He's a master of speed... but can he handle being the THE master of speed? As for why I chose him, well, Wally's been one of my favorite DCU characters for a long time, but I've never gotten a real chance to play him. Now I want to, as it's the perfect time to do so, with The Flash family stronger than ever.
Do you have an Instant Messenger? Which one, and what is your screen name?: [email protected] - MSN, allstarbatman - YIM
If you know how to post pictures, please provide a picture of your character you wish to be used for the Character Roster (if you do not know how, or do not have a preference, please say so and a default picture shall be picked for you):
Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least one line of dialogue):
It's always the same dream.
He's running, faster than any living creature could possibly hope to. The world is nothing less than a blinding blur around his eyes. His fingertips surge electricity, his pupils glow a bright yellow, and somewhere in between it all, he still finally manages to pass a smirk, as the wind blows across his face, then stops, becoming nothing but slowed air, as he runs ever the faster, burning through reality without so much as a single limitation holding him back. That's what it's like to be the fastest man alive. That's why Wally West loves being The Flash so much.
Then, it all comes crashing down. Suddenly, the world has turned black. Wally notices this, as he comes to a screeching halt, alarmed. The world still grows darker... out of his reach. He runs back, trying to grab at it, but it slips through his fingers. Reality is no longer his vessel. It's gone, leaving him, and only him. He screams out, trying to find it again. Find his wife, his kids, his family... but it's all maddeningly useless. As his search continues, he's joined by a motioned blur of yellow and crimson. And that's when he knows what he's up against... the very thing that makes being The Flash a living hell.
"Hunter...", He whispers under his breath, half surprised, half furious, as he races after the villain, both tearing through the blackness that is unreality.
"ZOOM! GET BACK HERE!"
Zoom doesn't listen. He simply keeps running. Finally, growing impatient, Wally's speed increases... until finally, he's caught up with Hunter. Leaping out and tackling him, the two spin through darkness, battling eachother in the face of a forgotten world. Zoom kicks him across the face, he returns it with a punch to the gut. This lasts for decades... centuries, even, in a ridiculous, meaningless battle that never ends. Until finally, Wally stops punching. Zoom laughs in his face, as Wally grabs him by the uniform.
"Why are you laughing?!", Wally asked.
"Don't you see what you've done, Hunter?! You've finally gone off the deep end! Your quest to make me a hero is useless, now! How could you be happy?!"
Zoom grins, maniacally, staring back into the Scarlet Speedster's demanding expression.
"Because, dear boy...", He begins, reaching up for his mask.
"In all these years, you never bothered to ask which Zoom you were fighting!"
Wally's face grows deathly cold, as Zoom rips away his own mask. And there, staring him back in the face, is Wally's own. Wally drops Zoom, finally realizing that his nightmare has reached fruition. He's become everything he couldn't dare to be.
He's the madman that destroyed reality. The other Wally laughs even harder, taking in the sweet, vicious vengeance of his foe's defeat in.
"And you said I've gone off the deep end!"
That's when he wakes up.
Wally's eyes flutter open, widened, as he realizes he's still screaming. Linda looks up at him, confused and startled, grabbing him by the arm.
"W-Wally! Baby! Calm down! Whuh... What's wrong?!", She asks frantically, as Wally finally doubles over, rapidly sweating.
"Oh... Oh god...", He states, with a tremble, grabbing Linda tightly and never wanting to let go.
"...Don't let it be true... please, please don't let it be true..."
That's how The Flash handles a nightmare. The same damned nightmare he's always had, ever since Hunter Zolomon entered his life.
He doesn't.
