Race was mid 80's when I had started watching. He was King at the time

I'm sure the Tim McGraw song 'Southern Girl' was about Mickie. :hrt:

I've become a fan of Sami through watching bits and pieces of his work on YouTube, but I honestly don't see much success for him in WWE. Maybe he'll ger a U.S. title run or be a tag team guy. I mean if some people think Ambrose is too weird for WWE, then you ain't seen nothing yet. TNA would've been a better fit for Sami IMO.

WWE should keep his gimmick and put him in tag team with Corey Graves. I could see them changing him completely through.

Sami in WWE = Joe Josephs

That's what I was thinking but couldn't remember. I just looked him up on Wikipedia. Can't believe I forgot about him vs JYD at Wrestlemania 3. I used to watch that on VHS with my brothers all the time as a kid.

I've been a fan of his work since 2009, but I've really been high on the guy since 2011. He has improved a crap ton. If they put him in a team with Corey Graves and still keep the "Sami Callihan mannerisms" in tact, I see him doing well. And I would love for him to do some kind of program with Moxley/Ambrose again.

I'm a Bully Ray fan but this Ace's & 8's angle is garbage. The ONLY good thing to come out this is the AJ Styles angle.

And even that, the AJ Styles angle is kind of contrived, IMO. And at this point in time, it's an undisputed fact that The Shield>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Aces and Geeks.

They were both in WWF, I wanna say around 1989-90 for Dusty. Can't remember when for Race, I think 80s as well.

Harley and Dusty both competed in WWE, although they were never the stars they were in the NWA, I mean in Harley's case he was at the end of his career and went where the money was, Dusty was sabotaged though.

Wow, thanks fellas. I didn't know that.

Good times.

TheNextNolan, are you LV5454 on YouTube? Because he's a Sami Callihan fan and he likes to refer to Aces and Eights as Aces and Geeks.

LOL no. I just like to use that term. I did meet him during WrestleMania 29 weekend(at the ROH show to be specific) a few weeks back. Great guy.

LOL okay because your post reminded me of him. So you went to WrestleMania 29?

Haha no problem. And yes, WrestleMania 29 weekend was awesome. It's a wrestling fans Disneyworld. On Friday, I went to ROH Supercard Of Honor VII.
On Saturday, I went to see Chikara and DGUSA. Sunday morning-ish, I went to WWE Fan Axxess and Sunday afternoon, I went to WrestleMania 29. I wish I would've gone to Raw. :csad:

Given Pain and Gain's small budget, I would say that it's somewhat of a modest success.

New question for everyone:

What makes a match a spotfest, and what makes a match...a structured match? If that makes sense. Like the difference between what some guys on the indies do, or some X-Division wrestlers and Cruiserweights have done on tv, versus beloved matches such as Mysterio/Ultimo Dragon, Mysterio/Eddie at Halloween Havoc, or even Evan Bourne/John Morrison on ECW (if anyone remembers it.)

Kurt Angle once talked about goals for each sequence. He compared it to folkstyle/freestyle wrestling, where all moves have a purpose of escape, reversal,or attaining back points. He said that when pro wrestlers have a hold/position (armbar/headlock), then do several moves only to end up the same position, it makes the sequence seem pointless.

That being said, I'll take a spotfest in a heartbeat over a Hoganesque big man match of punches, no selling, and stalling.

Its a serious injury if true. Cena could be out 6 months to a year. I was actually looking forward to his title reign of his.

Re: Harley Race

Speaking of him, I need to buy his book!
