First I'd like to say I fully believe Taker will lose his final match, he's too old school to not honor that tradition IMO. I just don't think this match with Punk will be his last. I think Taker while now synonymous with Mania should go out at Survivor Series. I'd say he's got two or three good matches left in him. Besides Trips will never allow Punk to do what he couldn't in three tries
In addition, while not Takers biggest fan I hope that when he retires he writes a book about his career, and we get a DVD with a documentary and Mark out of character
If there's no idea or motive on the WWE's part to do Cena/Undertaker at a WrestleMania, there's a possibility that Punk ends the streak. Undertaker is 20-0, on his last legs, and pushing 50. You may have doubts about the streak ending, but there's no reason people should be positive it won't happen.
I wonder if Bret didn't react because of health reasons. Bret had knee surgery in February , but that's not a good excuse. He might of just had a brain fart.
Hmmm.....this review of GI Joe Retaliation makes it seem like The Rock is the main lead and not Channing Tatum (in fact, Tatum isn't even mentioned at all in this review):
The way the story line is going, it be hard to imagine Punk winning. This is just like HHH/Orton at WM25. Orton should have gone over, but the way the story line went dictated that Orton lose.
How would you guys feel about this storyline suggestion?:
Shortly after Mania, Punk feels so humbled by his match with Taker(win or lose) that he slowly starts to "think things over" and while Heyman is starting to unveil his new Dangerous Alliance and cause a bit of Tyranny in WWE. Now that HHH is gone and Brock Lesnar is raising hell as well as Cena recently turning Heel. He starts to turn face gradually. The first tease would be in a heated argument with Heyman, Lesnar and The Shield backstage and then the next week on Raw Punk would call Heyman and Brock out and this would be where he cuts the promo that solidifies his Anti-hero face turn(no ice cream bar jokes this time though) and challenges Brock Lesnar to a "Loser Leaves Town" match at either Extreme Rules or Summerslam and win successfully.
Then the feud with Punk and Cena gets reinvigorated after Punk tries to talk sense into Cena after him turning heel on Rock and seeing him converse backstage with Heyman and The Shield.
Then later during one of his matches Cena and The Shield come out to the ring and brutally jump him. This would not only lead to a match with Cena where he gets a dirty win over Punk at a PPV during a title defense but also later down the line a Survivor Series match against The Dangerous Alliance/Heyman Family(The Shield, Heel Cena and maybe Heel Orton).....and eventually lead into Punk's second title reign.
Also feel free to add tweaks to this idea that can make it better if you have any.
WZ[WrestleZone.com] has learned that WWE is discussing something special for John Cena and The Rock's WrestleMania 29 entrances.
In recent years, the main event match has featured video packages for each individual in the match and a custom entrance. We're told this will happen again this year with WWE aiming to put together a video package for John Cena set to Eminem's song "Till I Collapse."
Details regarding The Rock's entrance have been scarce, but the possibility of using a Jay-Z song during his entrance has been discussed.
GI Joe II did not disappoint (I'll post my full review later in that movie's thread. Sadly, no Sgt. Slaughter cameo again.) and The Rock promoted Wrestlemania on the Kelly and Michael show. All is good.
The way the story line is going, it be hard to imagine Punk winning. This is just like HHH/Orton at WM25. Orton should have gone over, but the way the story line went dictated that Orton lose.
- The folks at WWE Studios continue to talk with the ones behind the Bruno Sammartino movie regarding funding and producing.
- There continues to be suspicion within WWE on CM Punk's status. Some believe he's hurt worse than anyone is letting on because everyone asked is denying any injury. There are reports of this having to do with creative frustration or burnout and more nagging minor injuries than a major injury.
- WWE is booking both The Rock and Brock Lesnar for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view because CM Punk will likely be missing the event. There are incorrect reports going around that Rock vs. Brock is scheduled to main event Extreme Rules. Both will be there but there's no word yet on who they will be wrestling.
- Chris Jericho recently appeared on Wrestling Observer Radio and noted that he was considered for several ideas for WrestleMania 29, including a mixed tag match at one point. When Jericho left for a tour of Australia with Fozzy, the plan was for him to turn heel and feud with Ryback. He came back from the tour and was informed by Eric Pankowski that plans changed and he would be facing Fandango as a babyface.
Jericho admitted he wasn't happy with the change in plans at first but he's excited after the way things have worked out. Jericho will take some time off after WrestleMania to tour with Fozzy from April 13th through the 28th. The deal he came back under was for WrestleMania but there is an understanding that he would like to work with WWE when other projects aren't going on. At 42 years old, Jericho isn't looking at taking long periods away from wrestling. When Jericho returned this time, he negotiated his deal with Triple H, not Vince McMahon.
Jericho also spoke about last week's NXT TV tapings and said he specifically asked to work with Bray Wyatt because he likes his style and loves his new gimmick. Jericho estimated Wyatt will be a main roster star in a year and a major star in two. He also praised Adrian Neville, the former Pac, for his match against Antonio Cesaro. Jericho also feels that NXT Diva Emma would get over very well on the main roster with her dancing gimmick.
- One of the major goals for 2013 is to make Alberto Del Rio into the Mexican babyface star that Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio were. Regardless of what happens at WrestleMania with Jack Swagger possibly winning or Dolph Ziggler cashing in, the direction of the World Heavyweight Title picture is still all about building Del Rio.
IIRC we got a tease of them once on Raw? I'd quite like to see them go at it too, difficult seeing as Orton is supposed to be a face though....
I always liked when Rock was teamed with someone he hated, would love to see him and Ryder as a bizarre tag team, obviously WWE would never give Ryder that rub though
I chose Ryback for two reasons he'd be seen as one of the only legitimate threats to heel Cena, and I don't see Ryback staying near the main event long term. I definitely see them putting the US or IC title on Ryback though. As for Cena winning the title that's going to happen anyway. After a feud with Cena I could see them giving Ryback one of those belts as a consolation. Punk vs Cena is always magic but they should hold off on another match between the two for a bit IMO. Not sue who else I'd put up against a heel Cena other than Sheamus.
If Cena did turn heel I agree I'd feed him Ryback. They could easily protect Ryback in that situation. Even if Cena doesn' turn heel I'd push a heel Ryback against Cena for many of the reasons you stated too. His face run just isn't working as well as they'd hoped. They pushed him too soon. But as a monster heel he would be different from Warrior and Goldberg...something he needs to be. As a face he's even more of a clone of those guys.
Mark Henry is also not getting any younger and Khali peaked pitifully as an in rng worker years ago. Big Show is also getting older. They're going to need someone to step into that top monster spot soon and Ryback could be the guy. He has the look and the size.
Finally like you said they've protected Ryback somewhat so he would look like more of a threat against Cena than almost anyone else they could throw at him right now. The best part is Cena might be able to work a good match with Ryback as a monster.
He feuded with Bret. Bret should induct him. Maria should induct Trish
edit
Just saw Lita is inducting Trish. That's a good call. Hopefully next year Trish inducts Lita
Two of the best people to induct Backlund are off limits. Arnold Skaaland is sadly dead and there's no way in hell Superstar Graham would do it unless Vince gave him a HUUUUUGE payoff.
Its a shame Angle is in TNA because he would aslo be a good choice to induct Backlund.

On the other side of the coin, they do have something to gain from breaking it. Allowing CM Punk to break the streak would be an investment in their future. I read an article a few weeks ago that said that right now Punk is one of the best heels of our time, but if he breaks the streak that could elevate him to one of the best of all time.
I'd be fine with Taker losing for the reasons you guys stated. I think it would be good for business and would b a huge rub for anyone. But it all comes down to if the right guy comes along and Vince. Will Vince want to see his greatest personally created gimmick go out winning? Will he want to honor the man who has arguably been his most loyal performer with a victorious exit?
It could go either way. Takers on his last legs physically but wrestling one time a year extends his career longer than it would have gone otherwise. It all depends on his heath. If he feels he's capable he may try to make it to 25 and 0. I doubt it but people have been saying the Undertaker is "nearing retirment" for over a decade and yet he keeps hanging on another year... year after year. Even if he's hurt he's one tough SOB. He'd probably fight through a lot of the pain if he has some kind of endgame he wants to reach.

"Everyone is expecting me to try to top the Shawn Michaels matches," Punk told Mark Madden on Pittsburgh radio station 105.9 the X promoting WrestleMania. "But that's not my goal. My goal is to make this the best that the situation allows me to make it. There's a chance it could be better than those matches, but that's not my goal. This isn't one of those 'workrate matches.'"
"I like my pro wrestling when it's pissed off and angry. I don't like it when it's just two dudes going out there and, ya know, just wrestling. I made him mad, I got under his skin, and I got under his skin," Punk said about the angle building to the match. "Hopefully it's going to be emotional and psychological."
Punk noted he's angry about not being in the final match at WrestleMania and he's frustrated by part-time wrestlers coming in for big paydays, which fuels him to keep pushing forward on the year-round schedule. But, he acknowledged it could lead to burn-out.
"I'm the only guy who says this - ya know, Miz will go out there and be like, 'It's great having these guys back!' and blah blah blah because I truly believe he thinks he has to say that," Punk said. "The honest reality of it is you bust your ass for 365 days a year and there's other people who come in and they don't work as hard, but maybe get paid the same amount of money. So, me as a businessman, it just makes me look at it and go, 'Okay, that's the deal I need to get. I need to get the deal where I work 15 dates a year.' You know what I mean? It makes me work harder, but, dammit, it's going to burn me out."
The interview concluded with Punk confirming that he doesn't want to be a "lifer" in the wrestling business. Punk said he gets bored easily and he's always looking for the next mountain to climb.
I like Punks honesty. Him being forced to pick up the slack the rest of the year means he hs to work harder and burn himself out. Thats why relying too much on paet timers is a mistake. They aren't going to come back and carry the load the whole year if Punk or Cena get hurt and WWE refuses to build more stars to help out.
I agree I don't expect him to top Taker vs HBK. I don't think any realist out there does. I do wish the build was better even if it wasn't the kind of long term slow burn as Taker vs HBK or HHH.
This match is really more about emotion and vengeance. Its personal. I agree with him that thats usually a must have in any major match thats looking to draw big. People need to be emotionally invested.

The streak is all he has now. Is his whole purpose for being. Everything
else is beneath him and WWE has made his character all about the streak. I agree that if he loses he may as well retire. Thats what its going to mean if its broken.

Its relative. I like Duke but hated Tatum in the role. I'm just hoping all the rumors mean reboot down the road. Hopefully it won't even be that long because Hollywood has shown no patience and they'll reboot ASAP when there's money to be made. This is one time I'd be happy because I don't want to wait 10 or 20 years to see a better take on Joe.
It may not ever be an Avengers level sucess but a G.I. Joe film franchise
has the potential to be an Avengers level spectactle. The intro to G.I. Joe The Movie (87) was more cool, hard edged, and spectacular than anything in the hammy cheesy 09 film. If they want to go for a big bold spashy action film they need to take that same feel that the opening sequence in G.I. Joe The Movie evoked and infuse that into a live action film.
Hopefully Hasbro "gets it" one day. Until then, for me, the best take on the comic book version of the team is still Dutch's unit in Predator.

Ditto. It comes down to the big boss. Vince will always honor Takers opinion and respect him but in the end Vince still has the last word. He's put ego over business before.

I think as top guy Cena shoud have that Hogan/Andre moment. That mega babyface vs special attraction moment. If Cenas taken Hogans spot then Taker has been in Andres for years.
I don't know WHEN it will happen or even if but IF WWE wants to do Cena vs Taker at Wrestlemania then Punk will be losing come WM29. Its just hard to say. Even though WWE has usually avoided putting Taker against the face of the company at Wrestlemania for good reasons (he never faced Hogan, Austin, Hart, etc. there) this time the sands running out of the hour glass and this is their chance for a huge WM payday. I also can't see Vince leaving a huge amount of money to be made off the table. And these days he's much more about money than good booking ideas. Cena vs Taker is money. So I'm sure its at least been considered by him.

Madden said Punk is the best talker out there yet hes paired with Paul Heyman, who is also a great talker. Madden asked how thats not overkill.
Punk said hes not sure if hes the best talker out there and an argument could be made that Paul Heyman is the best. Punk said the friendship that he and Heyman have off-screen really shines through in their work together.
You don't need wins or titles once you truly, truly, TRULY get over at a certain level. Jake Roberts, Ted DiBiase, and Chris Jericho have been proof of that. But in order to get over in the first place they are needed at the right times.

The way the storyline has gone, Punk winning would just leave a bad taste for most of the mark audience. This is the classic "Bad guy gets his comeuppance" storyline.
And frankly, I don't wanna see 2013 chicken**** heel Punk taking the streak. 2011 Voice of the Voiceless Punk? There's a guy who I could've seen taking the streak.
Ultimately, the streak should go to the next Stone Cold or Hulk Hogan, and at this point, that's neither Punk nor Cena. Cena is as over as he's going to be, and Punk himself has realized he will never be the number 1 guy.

so assuming they leave Rock Cena after this and Rock Brock doesn't happen for whatever reason, who on the current roster would people like to see Rock feud with if/when he returns in 9/10 months time?
I would love to see Rock feud with Ziggler. That's the type of high profile feud Ziggler needs to elevate him, and when it comes to matches Ziggler could help carry the older Rock that's not as fluid since he came back. The sad thing when I think about it is that the WWE hasn't been good at building anyone worth Rock feuds, so it all points back to another Cena feud, a possibility of going with Punk again since that feud should have been longer, or fighting Brock. The Rock would be great for guys that need a big push like Ziggler, Cody Rhodes, Kofi, etc.
I’d like a cluster**** with the World Heavyweight Championship. Del Rio beats Swagger in the opener, Swagger beats the crap out of him with a chair, Ziggler cashes in and wins the title.
Fandango refuses to wrestle because Jericho can’t say his name, Langston and Ziggler win the tag team titles, Ziggler mocks Vickie about being a double champion, so she sticks him in with Jericho, whose match with Fandango didn’t go ahead. Jericho looks to have Ziggler beat when Fandango costs him the match, and Ziggler can act like the second coming because he won 3 matches at WrestleMania.
so assuming they leave Rock Cena after this and Rock Brock doesn't happen for whatever reason, who on the current roster would people like to see Rock feud with if/when he returns in 9/10 months time?
Well since he's working at Extreme Rules I'd have him wrestle in a tag against The Shield and I'd build to him vs a heel Orton for Summerslam or Mania 30.
Regarding inductors for this year's class, Maria Menounos will be inducting Bob Backlund, Terry Funk will induct Mick Foley and Arnold Schwarzenegger will induct Bruno. It's expected Lita will induct Trish Stratus and Stevie Ray will induct his brother Booker T.
Glad to see Punk is still banging the part timers drum, he's got every right to IMO and I'm not surprised to hear he's not happy with creative right now. It's also interesting to note that he talks about Shawn's matches with Taker but not Triple H's as the benchmark.
- There continues to be suspicion within WWE on CM Punk's status. Some believe he's hurt worse than anyone is letting on because everyone asked is denying any injury. There are reports of this having to do with creative frustration or burnout and more nagging minor injuries than a major injury.
Hopefully a break and a change of direction will sort things out as WWE seem to finally recognize how valuable he is.

There are incorrect reports going around that Rock vs. Brock is scheduled to main event Extreme Rules. Both will be there but there's no word yet on who they will be wrestling.
Interesting that they feel the need to book both just because Punk is not going to be there, I'm honestly more interested in the Raw after Mania than Mania itself. I really hope they aren't planning Cena/Rock and HHH/Brock rematches for Extreme Rules.
I wish they'd give this up, Del Rio is a decent wrestler but as dull as dishwater, no amount of force feeding is gonna get him over like Eddie and Rey.
