The Wrestling Thread has much larger nipples

I have read that AEW's emergence is bad news for ROH. I don't know about that. ROH is fine as long as the relationship with New Japan continues.

Speaking of New Japan, I miss Daryl, the stuffed cat of Hiromu Takahashi.

That's what they have NXT for. The AEW IMO is a good for people who want to have the creative freedom to be who they are and not have to put up the WWE stuff anymore and if it turns out to be a big enough hit I see it as more trouble for them then good unless Vince steps down and puts Triple H in charge of everything.

Except that NXT can only get so big; it's like the Fox Searchlight of WWE. It might even be too big right now. AEW will be a good place for WWE to unofficially use as a backup league to identify and groom new talent should they ever have to downsize NXT (which may happen sooner rather than later).

But AEW is not apart of the WWE. As a matter of fact AEW has nothing to do with the WWE. They could actually if done right pose a threat to the WWE. So how or why should they send talent to them? If anything the WWE would try to keep talent away from them which is why they haven't released Sasha Banks yet.

That's the point. It's like an unofficial developmental league for them where they don't have to pay any of the wrestlers or spend money producing any shows. It's highly unlikely AEW will be cutting into WWE's business any time soon. But it gives WWE a chance to pick and choose what young or global talents they want to wave a big payday at and bring over to their show. Let AEW do the work scouting and building up young and less known talent, and taking the castoffs WWE can't or won't handle so their careers continue. That actually helps WWE, because a wrestler they don't have to pay continues building their own personal brand, which the WWE can choose to capitalize on at a later date. Again, Drew McIntyre is a good example of that. The Sasha Banks situation is like the CM Punk situation as it happened at the time: so rife with rumour it's hard to see what the best option is for either party.

Sad about Terri Runnels.

I keep hearing about how AEW changing the game. What did they change the game in terms of?

The vibe I get from them is that they're aiming to make an indy/ROH/Japanese-style product but with WWE production values. At the same time, they're avoiding the mistakes of WCW and TNA by not overpaying former WWE superstars just because they're former WWE superstars.

I’ll give AEW points to avoid paying former WWE stars, but the kind of product they want to put out concerns me from the start.

Come fall when they debut on TNT they need to find a way to get their product over to the casual audience.

The one thing that ruined WCW was the over reliance on WWF talent. As I have said before, AEW doesn't need to sign everyone who has been released by WWE or it becomes WCW.

The thing is though is that if they try to attract the casual audience is that their hardcore fanbase would probably call AEW sellouts for pandering to the mainstream.

Unfortunately come Fall, this is something they will eventually deal with.

So, this weekend is NXT Takeover 25. What is everyone's favorite NXT Takeover matches? I am watching some of my favorites over the next few days to try and put together my own little list.

The new Jericho podcast is Jon Moxley/Dean Ambrose dishing on WWE and his last stint etc.

It's similar in way's to the Punk/Cabana podcast in that the flaws of the WWE and Vince and plainly obvious for all to see.

The Emancipation of Jon Moxley - Talk Is Jericho - Omny.fm
"If I have something to prove, it's that I want to prove that your creative process, the WWE's creative process, sucks," Moxley said. "It does not work. It's absolutely terrible. And I've said that to Vince. I've said that to Hunter. I've said that to Michael Hayes."

"It's killing the company, I think. And I think Vince is the problem."

I can't even tell you how their system works, it's some kind of system of meetings that take place in Stamford, then there's a home team. There's writers and producers and production meetings and nobody knows what's approved and what's not.

"The bureaucratic red tape that you have to go through to get anything approved is crazy! It doesn't work! It's killing the company and I think Vince is the problem. And not so much Vince, but whatever the structure that he built around himself probably starting around 2002 after the sale of WCW and this infrastructure of writers, producers and this is what the WWE is and what the product is, and the product sucks. [They have] great talent, amazing talent. None of this is their fault."

"If I had a goal with AEW, that's that if we can prove that Vince's way sucks," he said. "That's not what I'm going to focus on, because it's not about competing with WWE. We're just going to be over here doing our best and putting on our best product. If a byproduct of that is that it pushes WWE to re-evaluate their creative process and it makes Vince — not that he's going to step aside because we all know that he's going to die in the chair — but maybe he'll listen to someone else's ideas. Maybe he'll be open to doing it a different way."

It's nothing we don't already know but it's good to hear more wrestlers say it.
EC3 is probably going to get buried even more for publicly agreeing with Moxley.

Moxely's story about EC3 just sums up Vince mindset. The fans hated having face EC3 squash Ambrose at house shows and reacted negatively towards it. Vince got mad that the fans/crowds aren't reacting the way he wanted and blames the wrestlers despite them voicing their opinion that what he wants won't work.

"Do what you're told," until what you're told is a terrible failure, then it's **** you.
Vince currently having a vendetta against a New York wrestler not being able to do a southern accent is peak Vince Kennedy McMahon.

For those of you still interested in getting into the Wrestling Pickems this yearr we have only done 1 PPV so far I've seen people come back from missing just 1 PPV so this Saturday we will be predicting NXT Takeover 25 this Saturday and WWE Super Showdown Next Friday. So if you want to get ur picks in for NXT 25 the deadline is this Saturday by 6pm EST.

Can we just skip Super Showdown? The last one I had no issues with because it was in Australia but this one is in Saudi Arabia. There's something uncomfortable about that.

Unfortunately come Fall, this is something they will eventually deal with.

The problem with that is that there is nobody that is out there for AEW that can attract the casuals. The WWE has a few of those, most notably John Cena. Who else is out there for AEW that can be that mainstream guy? Jericho is a maybe, but he's not as big as Cena is among casuals. He's absolutely not bigger than Dwayne Johnson, who the WWE kisses the ass of (although to be fair to WWE, they aren't the only ones).

That is the thing. What is the point of NJPW keeping that relationship with ROH?

I have no idea, but AEW has a relationship with AAA and ROH and NJPW has a relationship with CMLL and both Mexican companies hate each other, so AEW would have to end their relationship with AAA and form a relationship with CMLL in order to form a relationship with New Japan.

Moxley is going to wrestle in New Japan in June. That is the thing about AEW contracts. Some of the bigger names seem to have legit flexibility. Omega has said he can and will work again NJPW. Jericho is taking on Okada for the Heavyweight title in June as well.

While WWE’s creative isn’t that great at this point, however they continue to generate revenue and that’s what matters more to them than mere wrestling. They will only listen to the majority of their fan base.

AAA has relationships with both Impact and AEW. They will hold their own show in MSG in September.

An AEW vs. Impact Supercard would be fantastic.
