The Wrestling Thread has much larger nipples

They're also setting up Black Taurus vs JONAH and that should be fun.

@Hunter Rider I'm trying to come up with a balanced fed the cherry picks from all wrestling scenes and it is a ***** to narrow down. At least for the men's side. Women's and Tag Team's won't be easy but not as hard.

This has been a fun exercise so far. Can't just pick main eventers because you need an undercard. Lotta whittling down still needed to be done.

Alright, I think I got something here.

Main event:
JONAH
Eddie Kingston
Bryan Danielson
WALTER
Finn Bálor
Damian Priest
Drew McIntyre
AJ Styles
Adam Page

Alternates I would use to cycle in and out between injuries, time off, etc. And hope that maybe one of them would connect with the crowd.

Interesting list man, I'm surprised you didn't have one of Roman, Punk or Brock to have one bona-fide main event draw but it's an intriguing roster with a number of names I had to look up. JONAH looks like a beast and what's the deal with Damien Priest? I saw highlights of a match he had with Karrion Kross and I know he's currently the US Champion. Steve Maclin and Buddy Murphy have classic American pro wrestler looks, what type of workers are they? I'm surprised Austin Theory didn't even make your alternates list, i know he's stuck with Vince right now who looks like he's melting, but he's one of the most natural talents I've seen at such a young age.

On the Women's side of things have you seen the NWA women's champion Kamille? She looks decent to me, and i thought about Tay Conti for my list as well.

Would have liked it if Pac kept the eye bandage. Blind wrestler is a cool gimmick.

I forgot about this, I thought Pac was going for a Daredevil gimmick at first. The tag match was the usual stuff involving the flippy fellas, 4 guys in the ring doing moves and ignoring the tagging in and out rules, hopefully House of Black or whatever they're called move onto better opponents soon.

Check out JONAH vs Josh Alexander from Impact's Hard to Kill. A good look at how he works with his size. Reminds of Bammers from back in the day in the best way possible.

I honestly didn't want Rollins on my list but I figured he'd be a big enough name to be either the initial champion or one of the first to chase. He can play either face or heel so I see him as a good utility player that is main event quality. I get bored by Roman now, HATE Brock Lesnar, and think Punk hasn't added enough to make him necessary at his age. And yes, I know I have AJ Styles on my list, but let's ne honest, yes been one of the best for years now. I might have to find a spot for Lashley, now looking at it. You know what, Lashley would be MY special attraction type for big events and short runs. At his age, save him for only the best of times and get the most out of him. While he is a freak of nature, it can only last so long anymore.

Maclin and Murphy are light heavyweights in size, but can work with larger men. Maclin is very rough and ground based, and for a while was pushed as undefeated in singles matches for 8 months in Impact. Murphy (now Mathews) is more of a striker with some flying mixed in. You should look up his matches with Alester/Malakai Black before both got ****canned from the 'E. I feel both would be proper midcard villains with Murphy potentially making his way to the main event for short spurts.

Damien Priest is one of the few true success stories of Perfomance Center. He was just a big did with some strikes on the indies as Punishment Martinez. WWE molder him into one of their better talents before, of course, RAW removed the cool from him. Big, fast, great look, easily a champ there, although he's not young. Thus the list of alternates to help keep the roster strong during injuries, mandatory time off (each wrestler would have a seasonal schedule with 3 months off, chosen by the wrestler how best to use them), or loss of interest.

Honestly, I forgot Theory existed, which sucks because I loved watching him grow in Evolve. Even then my friend and I said he was already building a gimmick for his guaranteed WWE run. NXT almost ****ed that all up making him dumber than a headless chicken. Definitely needs to be on the alternates.

For the women, I haven't seen Kamille and I forgot to put Allison Kay on either list. The limits are rough. I'm not a huge Conti fan but she has a lot of upside to her. Honestly she should be the champ in AEW after hitting Baker with 3 finishers. It honestly pissed me off. Lot and wonderful female talent out there, I could probably put a show together for them alone.

What are your thoughts on the tag teams I chose?

Ricky Starks. I forgot to add him to my alts list. But he wouldn't be on there long, I'm sure.

I probably should put Bianca Belair on the alts list as well.

So, huge grain of salt but just read a rumor that Jericho's Stone Cold podcast appearance was supposed to lead to him being in the Royal Rumble, but WWE decided that if they were going to knock down the forbidden door to AEW that they wanted Moxley more, and Jericho backed out because he heard they wanted Mox for Rumble to then set up a match with Roman, but they either never officially offered to Mox or he turned it down, or something where it didn't work out. Would be crazy if WWE ever decided to work with AEW, it wouldn't work because Vince would never let his guys lose a single match but it's interesting to think about.

Death match coming up. Is Hangman gonna blade in every title match from now on?

What are your thoughts on the tag teams I chose?

I've been trying to get hold of some matches of these guys but have struck out so far, all my old haunts for getting matches don't seem to be thriving these days, looks like im going to have to get all of Hard to Kill. A comparison of Bam Bam for JONAH definitely intrigues me as he was a great worker back in the day, I always thought he was unlucky not to get a run with Hogan in the 80's, he came into the company after Hogan had done house show runs with One Man Gang and Kamala and before Boss Man arrived, but instead of bringing him in as a monster like he'd been in Memphis, they turned him into a cartwheeling cartoon babyface. Then in 1993 I thought WWF might make him their Vader who was on top in WCW at the time, but again it wasn't to be. He was involved in some ECW's gest matches with Taz, RVD and Shane Douglas, and for me got the 2nd best match out of Goldberg in their bout at Superbrawl VIII.

I digress though, you mention Murphy and Maclin being light heavyweights and several of the AEW guys are, would you have a Light heavyweight division? I know it's a big awkward as guys like Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles technically fit that division but the way they work it's like Eddie and Benoit, the transition to Heavyweight was natural, quite a few of these other guys might benefit from a defined division for them, and they could always progress to Heavyweight contendership. I'd say Bryan and AJ are the 2 best post HBK workers the business has seen, Punk for me is the best all rounder as he can hold storylines better than most, his stuff with MJF has elevated the best heel in the business imo.

Was Damien Priest a product of Triple H and Regal?

Austin Theory has great ring instincts for such a young guy and obviously the look, right now it feels like someone said to WWE "It's impossible to f**k this one up" and Vince went "Ya wanna bet pal!?"

The match between Britt and Tay Conti was the epitome of my issues with even many of the better talents in modern pro wrestling, this overkill of finisher kickouts helps nobody, it buries some great moves and takes a lot of drama out of matches as nobody believes the first finisher is the end of the match so there's barely any reaction as they know that it'll take another couple of head drops or the finisher off the top, on a chair or through a table to end it, I remember the days when the DDT, the Stunner, the Tombstone, the Superkick, the Powerbomb, the Diamond Cutter etc.....got pops as big as some of the most over wrestlers.

Of the teams we have 7 the same, I'm guessing Grizzled Young Veterans work like a Midnight Express or Anderson's type team? I love a good Samoan team but I'm not familiar with Guerrillas of Destiny, are they in NJPW? I was surprised to see the Taven/Bennet team in your list, I'm guessing both have improved a lot since I saw them in ROH back in the day?
.

I doubt it's true. Makes no sense for WWE to make their viewers aware that they can now watch "Dean Ambrose" (or Jericho) in AEW. Also like you said, there's no way Roman would lose anyway. Something like this would only happen if Vince bought AEW.

Not sure if anybody watched Rampage, the Mercedes Martinez vs Thunder Rosa match was a solid start to their feud and the aftermath with Britt and Mercedes was an interesting twist, as is the potential Hayter vs Mercedes match.

The main event between Ricky Starks and Jay Lethal was a good match with one of the best executed finishes I've ever seen.

The promo from Adam Cole was annoyingly worrying, if they put the belt on him for his feud with Larry it's politicking bull****, Danielson and MJF are streets ahead of Cole at this point and while it can be argued Punk doesn't need the belt I feel it's something that adds to Danielson, however he doesn't absolutely need it, MJF does though and his time to become World Champion should be on the horizon.

I havent watched wrestling in a long time...but was hearing about some huge debut announcement from Tony Khan on AEW tonight so I watched most it...and can't figure out who the big debut was.

I actually thought we would see Jeff Hardy but I'm happy with Keith Lee. AEW really needs another show. This and Rampage isn't cutting it.

Oh that dude is the big announcement? Not sure I've ever heard of him.
