The Wrestling Thread has much larger nipples

Jack Evans will not renew with AEW as he hasn't been on AEW TV since September.

The problem to me is most of them can't cut a promo to save their lives, Britt and Jade are the only 2 that can carry a storyline, and recently Nyla's cut a couple of decent promos. I like Thunder Rosa, she's got a likable charisma about her, but she can't talk, the recent promo between Toni Storm and Jamie Hayter was brutal, Shida is a mediocre worker who's promos are taped and she just shouts and Tay has just gotten into an angle with Paige VanZant but I'm guessing Lambert will do the bulk of the talking as Tay is awful on the mic. WWE can go ten women deep on their roster without blinking and they can all work and talk to a decent level.
Ruby Soho can cut a promo and carry a storyline but she has been relegated to Dark/Elevation

This is why you need writers and others who can help the women, especially ones who are much younger and have learned in environments where talking was secondary, because it was their second language.

And yeah, have to hard disagree on the idea that Shida is a mediocre worker. She's the best they got, and it isn't even close imo.

I thought Ruby was a bit hit and miss on the mic so far but they had something with her as an underdog babyface but seem to have lost interest in using her in anything that matters.

I loathe writers in wrestling, it's one of many reasons I can't stomach WWE, there's only a select few that can navigate the overly scripted dreck they're forced to recite like actors. I think they need veterans to guide them for sure, but people that actually come from a wrestling background so the promos sound authentic and not like a videogame.

I wouldn't even put Shida in the top 5 in AEW but then I don't rate this crop of Japanese wrestlers of the last 10-15 years, and especially the 2nd raters Larry brought in for TK, she's just another moveset worker with a colourful costume and lots of yelling to me. Io Sharai and Okada are the only 2 that have impressed me

I don't think AEW needs writers for promos, but they need writers to help solidify storylines.

As expected from last night that the huge announcement would be the NJPW/ AEW supershow called The Forbidden Door.

Tonight was Impact's go-home show for Rebellion that will be this Saturday.

Brief Dynamite and Rampage thoughts.

I hated the coffin match main event, AEW seems to love these type of violent gimmick matches but practucally nobody in the company knows how to do them properly, instead of looking like wild brawls they're visually obvious cooperative stunt shows, I'm guessing Tony Khan loves him some Mid-South and Mid-Atlantic but bar Punk and MJF none of his roster have actually pulled the matches off from what I've seen so far.

Tay and Sammy embracing their heelness is a smart move but are they trying to turn Lambert and co into faces? And another meaningless throwaway Ladder match? Really!

On the plus side Punk vs Dustin was good, they had the crowd eating out of their hands by just having a pro wrestling match, not trying to kill themselves or scar each other to get a reaction, because they're actually over! The staredown with Punk and Hangman afterwards begins the road to their match at Double or Nothing, Page is so frustrating, out of the trampoline buddies he's the one with the most potential but between poor booking and his own bad in-ring habits when not working with Danielson he just keeps disappointing, I'm curious to see what Punk can bring out of him.

I also enjoyed Jungle Boy vs Kyle O'Reilly, this was the modern movset heavy style done well, with crisp, physical and competitive exchanges and counters, it looked like an athletic contest and I was glad to see O'Reilly win, I think he's got more to offer the singles division than ReDragon do the tag team division.

Hook's Dynamite debut was short and sweet and he spoke on Rampage, but I hope they drop this crap with him and dumbhausen soon.

The MJF/Wardlow build continues nicely, MJF having security bring Wardlow to the ring in handcuffs without his entrance music was a great touch.

It was good to see the Queen Bee back! :D:

The AEW/NJPW crossover PPV announcement for June will excite their core audience more than me I suspect, but I'm curious to see what matches are booked, given its in Chicago I'd say Punk vs Jay White might be the main event, and if possible surely they'll give fans Danielson vs Okada.

Rampage kicked off with one of those modern paint by strikes NJPW matches that bore me between Twiggy and Ishii as part of the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, the Puddin' Commander was loitering around ringside and Jay White interfered, needless to say this whole thing was bleh for me.

Kingston vs Garcia was more like it, everything about Kingston comes over as authentic and he can work, I liked how Garcia used leverage here to try and control the match and keep Kingston off offense before he finally lands the backfist for the win. The promo afterwards allowed Kingston to sidestep the fact he didn't destroy Garcia as he's saving the worst for Jericho, I'm guessing it's going to be a strap match between the 2 at Double or Nothing.

Jadeberg vs Marina Shafir was weird, a section of the crowd like Jade's wannabe Megan Thee Stallion attitude while the rest boo her, and there was very little reaction to Marina as they have no reason to love or hate her. So the atmosphere was quiet but the match was ok, Jadeberg is green and a submission specialist isn't an ideal opponent for her but Marina worked in some of her holds and Jade spaced out her power moves well while constantly working the crowd, her star quality is undeniable. The finish had Jade actually look in jeopardy in an anklelock for a moment before she overpowered Marina and hit her finish, given both women barely have 5 full years of experience between them I thought they did well.

Whatever else happens on this coming weeks AEW I'm expecting a classic match from this one!

I really hope Cash goes over here. Everyone praises Dax, and rightfully so, but Cash is on the same level I feel and deserves the same credit Dax gets.

Agreed, Cash is really underrated as he's not had the amount of single's matches Dax has had, it would be great to see him get his spotlight in this tournament.

IInspiration, the former IIconics, have parted ways with Impact Wrestling.
