Leave it to the Rock to throw out nearly one year's worth of storytelling with a single promo. Due to his chaotic schedule, the guy must be a logistical nightmare. Unlike John Cena, the Rock makes little to no effort when it comes to freeing up his schedule in advance.

In regard to Roman Reigns, I honestly don't know where they can go with his character now without feeling a like repeat of the past four years.

Also, does anyone else feel like Cody Rhodes has lost a lot of momentum since winning the title?

Royal Rumble return? He was one of Trips guys in NXT so I'm sure he'd get used better than when Vince was still around, and I imagine being back on the road with Zelina is a huge incentive to go back to WWE.

Two US title matches on Smackdown tonight, as well as Tiffy's first show as WWE Women's Champion.

Smackdown had some good stuff this week but they need to deepen that roster while the 3 hour runtime remains in place.

I thought Michin vs Chelsea was decent and I love the way her and Piper are leaning into the US gimmick despite neither being American, Piper as a sparkly secret service agent was great lol. Before Smackdown aired WWE put a backstage bit up where B-Fab and Chelsea had words, that type of program is why these mid-card titles were so needed, so many talented women waiting for opportunity. I do think they'll circle back on Michin at some point as the storyline of her never winning a singles title is there to be completed.

A-Town Down Under vs MCMG was a good match, but I just want to see Waller get into the singles mix, he can be a top heel imo. The MCMG are doing their thing but damn do they look indierific when opposite guys like A-Town Down Under and The Street Profits.

I've mentioned the lack of quality in female promos recently but I thought Tiffy did a good job with her first as Champion, it wasn't that she said much outside of the standard box, but the delivery sounded confident and real, not like she was reading a set of cue cards, she talked over a building Tiffy chant which at first I thought was inexperience, but it was the opposite as the next line out of her mouth was that she's better than all of their favourites. Nia joined in with some solid mic work, her calling Tiffy a "little s**t" surprisingly wasn't cut here, and then Bayley was ok and Naomi brought her likability. I have to gripe about presentation again though, Bianca just stood there like a sidekick, doesn't speak, doesn't bring up the fact her KoD led to Tiffy's win, nothing, and she's the biggest star of the 5 women out there. Conversely Tiffy sliding back in to moonsault on them all before celebrating with her title was the right way to end her 1st segment as Champion, as opposed to just running off.

The Fatal 4-way #1 contender match was really long but all 4 women got showcased properly, and the sections with Bianca and Bayley, and Nia cleaning house after Candace got her going were great. I was a bit surprised Bayley won and even more surprised the title match is next week, especially when SNME is only 2 weeks away and no matches are booked for it yet.

The opening segment and main event were just standard fare and I was hoping for a McIntyre appearance, but I liked the througline of the show centering on Jacob, I think Knight is an ideal first singles feud for him and I love his promos as he walks to the entrance, everything he says sounds authentic, I think we're about to enter the next phase of his development in WWE.
