This should also be said to Vince.lol

Curious, based on what you guys have seen and know of Bryan's real life fighting abilities, would you guys say that he's capable of actually beating some of the wrestlers presently working for the company if he were to get into a real fight with one of them?

I'm sure Bryan could, and it would mean next to nothing to Vince. We've seen countless examples of guys with less-than-perfect physiques beating opponents with more pleasant bodies. Joyce Gracie was doing it 20 years ago, and Roy Nelson vs Kimbo Slice was a high profile example of that just a couple of years ago. Anyone who knows anything about actual combat knows that a bodybuilder physique means next to nothing in an legit contest, but Vince is as stubborn as ever.

I got around to watching Okada vs Tanashi at NJPW King of Pro Wrestling from October of last year....Okada and Tanahashi f-cking killed it. At certain parts I was getting scared that Okada would no sell the arm damage but fortunately he didnt and Tanahashi's feigned knee injury was an interesting tactic as well.

I'd love to see Daniel Bryan go at it with either of these two guys but even moreso Hiroshi Tanashi. Dude definitely has a fan in me now.

Was watching some NJPW matches to get my mind off of TNA's bush leagueness tonight lol.

I was actually watching that same match from King of Pro Wrestling just last night! And for as hyped as that match is, I do think it's a little overrated. The one thing about that match that I didn't really like was the fact that after Tanahashi had worked over Okada's arm the first time, he only sold it after a couple elbows, then he completely went on like it never happened. Thankfully they came back to it & then Okada sold everything to the arm like death, and that's when it got really good.

Puro is such a polarizing thing for me - at times, I really love what they do & then at other times I just shake my head at it... a lot of the matches devolve into finisher-fests, with big move after big move. I know it's pretty much a completely different style than American wrestling (where when it's done well, every move means something), but they mix in enough of an American style that it can be frustrating to see match psychology fall apart. As good as he is already, Okada can fall into that trap of moving from move to move without remembering to sell certain things. Kinda like John Cena... also, just went back & watched the Summerslam match with Daniel Bryan, and that was some of his best selling in ages. Bryan just has a way of reigning guys in to tell a coherent story in the ring, and it's beautiful.

I think it would be cool if international promotions partnered with WWE to bring their product to the states. WWE can dub shows with English commentary on WWE Network.

That would be pretty awesome. If they ever do happen to make something like that happen, I would hope they seriously consider bringing Matt Striker to do commentary for those types of things. I know Striker gets a bad rep around the 'net for the way he called things sometimes, but I feel like commentating Puro matches with Regal could be his true calling in life. Because it's sometimes so radically different from American wrestling, you'd need guys who can explain the cultural differences and those two would be able to do it flawlessly.

Yeah I would love for WWE to do international partnerships. Especially for when they have green ass performers...They can take care of it by sending them to japan to hone their craft.

I can't cosign this enough. I understand that WWE wants guys to go through their system & learn the WWE way, but it's no coincidence that the guys they've signed who have adapted to the ring style quickest have worked all over the world. Part of it is experience, yes, but the other reason is because guys like Cesaro, Zayn & Neville have worked extensively with guys who don't speak English as a first language. If you can adapt to those conditions, figuring out how to work in a WWE ring is probably much easier.

Especially now with the way developmental is set up, it seems like there are guys who probably are on the verge of TV but just need a little extra seasoning. Working a few tours in Japan would be an excellent way to broaden their horizons while they wait for an NXT roster spot to open up.

It's funny that KENTA might be coming to WWE and Punk is gone.

Right now, the only non WWE promotions I watch are ROH and TNA.

But considering that WWE has pretty much nothing left for me, what's good place to watch NJPW, and what other promotions would you recommend?

For those interested, oneofus.net did a live commentary of the rumble and it's now available for download. The downside is you'd be reliving the rumble in real time, but it's also a fun mix of old fans, new fans, non fans, sports fans, and geeks in general interacting with one another.

I've been thinking if the slim chance this whole punk thing is a work(which I doubt) how in the hell do they make it work as an angle.

Does punk attack HHH through the crowd, run down the company on social media. You can't really just have him show up cut a promo and such.

Plus we keep bashing them for redoing old angles if this is a work it's the same again as back when he first won the title

What are you talking about? Lobo is referring to Lesnar vs Sheamus, not Batisra vs Sheamus.

Thank you, I don't think I'd ever say Batista would be in a show stealing match unless it was Bryan he was facing. That's the only way I could see it happening.

When did he adopt this gimmick? I don't find him very entertaining in the ring but the entrance is great.

I could see what a exchange between the two of them (Batista and Orton) could be written like...

BATISTA: Unlike you Randy, I'm not a crybaby that walks away when the going gets tough...

RANDY: Oh really? Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you quit the company because you couldn't beat Cena for the title?

BATISTA: .....

RANDY: Now I'm no crybaby. Time and time again, I've taken every challenge that life has thrown at me and I've conquered it....

BATISTA: Is that the reason why you went A-Wall during your time in the Military?

RANDY: .......

BATISTA: I'm the best in the business. I'm bigger and I'm stronger. That's why when we were in Evolution, Triple H always saw me as the next big thing after him....and even with that, me and him went through hell battling each other to earn each other's respect for the title...

RANDY: You mean like how I did when I became the youngest World Champion and how Triple H needed to back stab me for doing something that he couldn't back then...

BATISTA: ...... So, why are we fighting again? Seems like we actually have a lot in common.

RANDY: I don't know, but I blame Kofi and Dolph for this.

:lmao:

I will say, one WrestleMania 30 main event that WOULD have me throwing money at the screen would be if they did a Daniel Bryan VS Batista VS Randy Orton VS Brock Lesnar fatal fourway for the title, so long as it was done elimination style, and so long as the final two were Daniel Bryan and Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar enters Elimination Chamber and wins. Randy Orton claims rematch clause. Daniel Bryan finds some way to fight against the odds and gain his spot in the match too.

A Fatal 4 Way is about the best option at this juncture I think, as I am not sure a Triple threat will be a great match, although in truth the WWE fans wont care as long as Bryan wins.

- It’s worth noting that Triple H did not make an appearance in front of the rowdy crowd at last night’s WWE NXT TV tapings at Full Sail University. Regarding the CM Punk chants that we reported on last night, one fan wrote to us and described it as one of the most disrespectful things they have ever seen from a wrestling crowd. Fans were chanting for Punk during other wrestler entrances and during their matches. Another fan said it had to be a nerve-wracking night for WWE officials because of the Punk fans.

- Regarding Punk’s status with WWE, several sources reiterate that this is not part of some big storyline. It’s always possible that Punk and WWE officials will come to terms and the whole thing could played off as an angle but as of right now, that is not the case at all.

Does anyone else imagine an old lady saying "Well, I never!" every time someone is outraged by fan chants?

It's good that they are friends . I think Stone Cold could offer some good advice because he did regret walking out to some degree.

As for fans chanting at NXT I see how that could be annoying if it's not relevant. Last time I went to raw four guys behind me would chant stuff that didn't make sense. They would constantly yell Hogan, there were Kennedy chants, etc. I understand people are dumb , but they need to understand there's a time and place for certain things. If there's an intent that everyone grasps I'm fine with it but I hate when people chant random things for the hell of it. Unless it's before the show starts.

I've been watching Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia and didn't realize there was a wrestling themed episode where Roddy Piper guest stars. Awesome!

My thoughts exactly. Chanting for Daniel Bryan during a Triple-H segment=GREAT. Chanting for Randy Savage while Kofi Kingston is out there working his ass off for you=not so great.

WWE needs to steal the Birds of War gimmick.

People are going to be chanting for Punk for a good while. It is what it is. I mean I get people can be annoying but after the story broke I would expect Punk chants.

How cool is it to see wrestlers being interviewed by Arsenio Hall again. I remember Warrior, Savage, Bad News Brown and others being on his old show.

I am cool with people chanting for Punk, but I feel like it needs to be during segments that actually caused him to leave, like whenever Stephanie and Triple-H are in the ring, or during the WWE title feud they are force feeding us right now. Same with the Daniel Bryan chants. I love when they happen, but they need to be aimed at the right people.

Smark crowds are the best modern crowds. I can't stand crowds full of casual fan parents and kids because they don't do anything. They sit on their hands. Don't give that stuff about wrestling being "fake" because people get engaged with scripted entertainment all the time.

You do have a point abut modern crowds being better with "smarks" in attendance. I just think that the crowds where better when kayfabe existed. I get a kick out of watching old matches youtube. The front row crowd screaming at the heel cause he can be seen hiding a foreign object in his tights. One of the best is Ernie Ladd vs Bruno. The crowd HATED Ernie and was screaming to the ref when he was showing the crowd he has weapon! The crowd howled when Bruno used it on Ernie lol.

Yeah that's all I'm trying to say. I just hope they don't go too overboard with the Punk chants. Do it during the crappy segments. Especially Khali matches and whenever the Authority is in the ring.

I'm sure this is all leading to a Punk scewed Punk sit down interview between Triple H and Michale Cole.

It's surreal. It's crazy enough to see Hall back and it almost looks like Stone Cold used a time machine.

That Always Sunny episode was hilarious. Reminds me of The Wrestler though. They almost got into that territory with Roddy.

I feel bad for the guys trying to get their work in the ring over. It's not their fault. I don't feel bad for the top brass. For one thing they don't bear the brunt of it out in the ring and they had to know this would happen if they know their audience like they claim even if they don't give them what they want. The people want punk in high profile matches. It's the bosses fault he and the fans didn't get that. I imagine if he was creatively fulfilled he could work through some of the nagging injuries and burnout and at least ask for some short time off rather than leave long term.

I agree with Darko and bullets. If the fans want to chant we want Punk do it during matches with the top guys that the family wants to push at the expense of hard working guys. Do it during some of the part timer matches. Definitely do it when the family is in the ring.

Agreed, and welcome back man.
