The Wrestling Thread Is At Home Until Further Notice - - Part 141

Agree with everything said regarding the chants. The "What?" chant gets chastised, and rightly so. But the "Yes!" and quite likely the Punk chants, etc. can as well have the same effect in segments where they are not needed or necessary.

The ones at fault are the top brass who make the calls. Not the talent working their asses off in the ring who have nothing to do with it.

I'd just like to say that I don't have a problem with the MVP storyline in TNA. At least not yet. I'm glad the invester wasn't Jarrett or Russo.

True, perhaps I was being too hasty in my comments.

The difference between the Bryan and Punk chants to me is that they are not a case of fans just being jerks, they are born out of mass frustration that has reached boiling point and the fans feel that hijacking is the only way to make their views known to WWE management.

It sucks as a situation, I mean I think in all of this no one has really thought how much it sucks for Orton, the booking has made his reign an afterthought as he's been little more than Triple H's puppet through everything, and he will go into Mania as a Champion that fans simply don't give a **** about, instead of as a heel champion with a lot of heat that fans are waiting to see get his comeuppance. He's been having his best matches in years since last summer, but it will be for naught come Mania.

I think Orton is a good wrestler and I agree he has improved in the ring and on the mic since summer than he has been for years,Sadly though his booking has been ruining him

While the "What?" chants can be annoying, if the performer is skilled enough then you can structure a promo without having to deal with them. Or, you could just pull an R-Truth, "Ya'll stop What'in me!" :woot:

... and now I miss bat**** crazy R-Truth :csad:

Orton's problem is always booking. There's only a certain way his gimmick can work and WWE strays too far from that.

You do have a point abut modern crowds being better with "smarks" in attendance. I just think that the crowds where better when kayfabe existed. I get a kick out of watching old matches youtube. The front row crowd screaming at the heel cause he can be seen hiding a foreign object in his tights. One of the best is Ernie Ladd vs Bruno. The crowd HATED Ernie and was screaming to the ref when he was showing the crowd he has weapon! The crowd howled when Bruno used it on Ernie lol.

My dad and uncle used to love telling a story about my grandma trying to attack Ernie Ladd with her shoe.

The best way to deal with "What" chants is baiting the crowd into doing it, and then saying "y'all a bunch of puppets!"

Mark Henry is the man.

LOL Yeah Vince hadn't killed Kayfabe.

Quick question to everyone. A side from WWE and TNA do any of you watch or monitor INDY Wrestling? IF so what promotion and wrestler? For me is CWFH Adam Pearce, Colt Cabana, Willie Mack and Ricky Mandel.

WWE announced CM Punk has been replaced at all Axxess signings by Ric Flair.

WWE has removed C.M. Punk from the WrestleMania Axxess lineup. Fans who purchased tickets for his April 5 VIP autograph session were emailed and informed that Ric Flair would be replacing Punk. Fans who purchased tickets to meet Punk now have the option of taking a refund, exchanging their ticket for one of the other VIP sessions, or attending the session with Flair.

yip

Agreed, and welcome back man.

Thanks! I feel like Triple H after his 02 Rumble return. Now I gotta bury ALL OF YOU! :cwink:

For 30 Years, WWE and its Superstars have created a pantheon of iconic WrestleMania moments that are immortalized forever in history- but only one man can lay claim to the nickname “Mr. WrestleMania”, Shawn Michaels.

Whether giving Undertaker all he could handle in a quest to break the streak, revolutionizing the business in a Ladder Match with Razor Ramon, or descending from the rafters for an exhausting 60-minute Iron Man Match with Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels always accomplished his one goal at WrestleMania. That goal was to steal the show.

Now, fans can own all 16 of his iconic WrestleMania matches. See all the jaw-dropping action from The Showstopper on WWE’s grandest stage.

You want to talk indy wrestling, you're speaking my language. Promotions I follow:
AAW
AIW
ROH
PWG

Some wrestlers I follow very closely at the moment:
Kevin Steen
Adam Cole
Shane Hollister
Tommaso Ciampa
Michael Elgin
ACH
The Young Bucks
Kyle O'Reilly
Drake Younger
Willie Mack
Uhaa Nation

Just to name a few.

and the irony about Shawn is.......he wasn't exactly the biggest guy ( size wise ) on the roster......and look at what he accomplished.

It's my 4 year Anniversery here on the Hype and I just want to let you guys know that this thread is truly the one reason I went from a long-time lurker, to signing up and why stick around. I'm here everyday, whether I post or not and I do read everyone's posts.

I know I never say anything game changing or thought provoking and you guys put up with my lame attempts at jokes, but I enjoy the fun we have with each other and here's to the many years to come.

Shawn definitely didn't have the size, but he had the right look and a good physique for his body type. When it comes to classic heroes, Vince prefers Hercules, but will settle for Achilles when one presents itself.

I think Shawn was a fantastic worker and Daniel Bryan and Punk are my favorite wrestlers, but Shawn was more of a natural top-tier hero than those two. AmDrag and Punk have a much harder hill to climb, and I just wish the WWE could do more with them.

i'm on the side of chant long and chant hard. sorry but its the only way anyone in management will learn. you can say vote with your wallet and feet but come on you really think if even 90% of the iwc left and never watched wwe it would matter. that space would be filled by familys and kiddies extremely quickly

if you're there and can get a crowd to catch fire with a chant or a song you'll get attention
