Homecoming The Zendaya is possibly someone, maybe thread - Part 3

You keep using language like "most probably" and "highly unlikely" based on less than 5 minutes of footage from a 2+ hour film in a universe where we can feasibly expect 3+ solo films and appearances in other movies.

You. Are. Assuming. Everything.

I don't think I am. Too many influential and well-respected people who work for Marvel or who have worked for Marvel (Roger Stern, Joe Quesada, Tom Breevort, Dan Slott, Mark Waid, Kurt Busiek, John Byrne, just to name a few) all view MJ as a bad match for Peter and also view their relationship as one of the biggest mistakes in the history of the character.

And even if Feige is a fan of MJ (which I don't believe he actually is) I still don't think he'd want to do anything to offend any of those people considering how much respect he seems to have for all the writers who've turned the Marvel universe into what it is.

Feige doesn't care about what those people think. They're not the ones making his movies and they don't have any influence. He is a fan of MJ, when he wrote the outline of what he would want for an MCU Spidey film to Pascal, MJ played a prominent role: essentially the same role Ganke is playing in this movie. And he wantec to participate in the casting of MJ the same way he did with Peter, so clearly he cares about the character & wants her to be a part of Peter's life regardless of Quesada's efforts to keep her out

If they had zero intention to bring MJ in the future movies, they wouldn't tease her in homecoming (the red head girl). They would simply ignore her like they did in Tasm.

Plus, Rebeca Donovan is supposed to be a "Drama Club Member", an other MJ tease (and hopefully the 616 version).
At this point I'm not asking "if" but when will she appear, espacially if they're doing 2 trilogies.

I always find it funny that people believe she will not appear because "they already did her in the Raimi movies". I mean it's our 3 Peter Parker and...How many Batman did we have? Plus this saga seems to target a younger audience who is probably not familiar with the Raimi movies.

Do we know if shes died her hair red, or who the red headed girl Spidey was swinging with is?

Would they do Gwen again? I feel like ASM covered her well enough. I would think they would focus on not repeating themselves as much as possible*

*Even though they already are with him being in high school.

If Rice doesn't end turn out to be Betty In Name Only, maybe.

It's not even Betty Brant but Betty Brandt.

I don't see 'em using Gwen for a while, myself, and I honestly hope they don't because some people will want TNGSD adapted 'properly' (which was one of the best things of TASM2 regardless of your feelings of the movie).

I'd either bring her back to do something much different with her or skip using her entirely. With Rice looking a lot like Gwen, she could be the new 'Gwen' without actually being her in name..so, already, that'd be something much different from the past series.

Only time will tell, though.

I could see them doing a Gwen that's more like Ultimate Gwen since TASM series already delivered a modernized take on classic Gwen that is probably the most universally beloved thing about those movies.

I don't think Rice is playing Gwen, however. Seems like us fanboys are just overreacting to a blond in a headband. While that IS Gwen's signature 616 look, it doesn't mean any blond in a headband can automatically be assumed to be her.

Doesn't exactly mean she has to be Betty Brant either, but I think the mystery around these characters is already tiresome as it is.

Until we get a confirmation that she is [insert character name] or isn't Betty, I'm sticking with the idea that she is.

Changing her name makes it different?

I'm not picking on you here, but I don't read the comics, and for me at least Marvel's attempts to set this apart from the past movies have been miscalculated. People keep saying that Marvel had to change this or that, and all I can say is Marvel and Sony had better hope mainstream audiences don't look at it the way I do. I mean, part of that is that I like the ASM series, and I know they weren't as popular, and part of it's that I'm tired of Tony Stark who's presumably their ace in the hole, but they're treating it like audiences are tired of MJ (who wasn't even in the last series)/Harry/Gwen while counting on them not being tired of Spider-Man himself.

I'd be much more interested in Ellie Bamber as a 616 comics accurate Mary Jane Watson than someone completely unlike MJ who may or may not still be her. I'd be more interested in Angourie Rice as Gwen (even in a bit part) than Angourie Rice as someone who isn't Gwen but looks just like her. To put that in perspective, it would be like if they rebooted Lord of the Rings, but this time Aragorn is a blonde elf guy with a bow and arrow. That doesn't make it new. That's just stupid.

Pretty good stuff, here. I think some of the general audience is used to the characters and sort of expects them to be there.

Also, agree about Rice as Gwen and glad to see someone else wants Bamber for MJ.

Feige doesn't care about what those people think. They're not the ones making his movies and they don't have any influence. Look, I'm almost 100 percent certain MJ won't be in these new movies. Anybody hoping she will be is just setting themselves up for disappointment. I mean really, have spidey fans learned nothing over the past decade?

Most people at Marvel either dislike the character or dislike her being with Peter, or both; hence why she's now an Iron Man character and most likely will continue to be one for the indefinite future. (On that note, in the very unlikely event she does appear in these movies, it'll more than likely be either as Stark's new PA or girlfriend, as I mentioned before)

And even though Feige might not be beholden to any of those people anymore, I'm sure he wouldn't want to do anything to upset those people because he probably has a great deal of respect for them.

They're very clearly creating a brand new love interest who they probably feel is a much better match for Peter and his world and who has as much in common with MJ as the Super Mario Bros. movie had in common with the original video game. And that's clearly who Zendaya is playing.

I don't think anything is clear at the moment.. and those who think things are.. should probably rethink things

So according to The Amazing Spider-man fan account on youtube, Kate Boyer is the redhead stunt actor, I wonder if it's true.

there's more than 1 red head... again.. all 3 were standing in one photo together...

i can't find the photo, but there is a picture of all 3 standing together... i swore up and down it was the same girl in different wardrobes, but that pic proved me wrong.. so trust me.. its legit, theres 3 red-heads, not 1

Yeah, that's been discussed a few months back when those pics first popped up.
