Homecoming The Zendaya is possibly someone, maybe thread - Part 3

They really should've gotten Greg Weissman to be the screenwriter or consulting producer for this movie.

He could have been a great consultant for sure IMO.

I'm telling you, if they bring on Dan Slott to be the writer or consultant for the next movie, I think that'll be it for me. It honestly wouldn't surprise me considering how much Marvel loves to placate him.

Feige and Marvel Studios are separate from the comics division that slurps on Slott. Even with his involvement with the new animated series, he has a prior connection with former editor Steve Wacker who's in the animation department now.

Also, I think if MJ is featured in this movie or the next ones (and I still believe there's very little chance of that), it'll probably be as Stark's new personal assistant (considering that he and Pepper are no longer an item). She'll also probably be much older than Peter.

Oh, come on. Baseless speculation.

They've had this misguided belief for over a decade now that the 2 of them being together is somehow detrimental to the character, and they haven't shown any signs lately of abandoning that B.S. philosophy. I mean hell, Quesada even said at the recent comic con that he still believes after all these years that breaking them up was the right thing to do.
Quesada needs to be removed from Spider-Man comics he doesn't care about him or his lore. The fact that he keeps breaking up Peter & MJ proves this. Truly a slap in the face to classic Spidey.

I really don't think it's too much of a leap. Let's not forget, Marvel loves for their film and tv projects to gel with whatever the comics are currently doing. Case in point: we're essentially getting Ganke in this movie as Peter's best friend (despite the fact that they're calling him Ned:whatever:)

It's a leap.

Feige wanted to get rid of the Marvel Creative Committee, which consisted of comic writers critiquing and giving ideas for their movies.

I think it's safe to say he doesn't give two ****s what the current comics are doing.

Addendum: Sometimes they do cross-pollinate, but only when it's convenient. I've yet to see the MCU adapt something for forced symmetry if it didn't fit into their plans already.

Then how do you explain the inclusion of Ganke?

It's an element he / the screenwriters / Watts wanted? Marvel Comics have nothing to do with the movies any more. They're completely separate entities.

They are free to pull from any comics they like. But they don't have to, and they certainly can't be forced to.

Sorry for so many posts, but I'm in deep thought :whatever::loco:

If anything, comics have changed to better reflect the movies recently, like the wildly different Doctor Strange revamp, the Avengers Assemble book coming out in 2012, Thor growing a beard, blah blah blah. Not to mention every time a movie comes out, you know there will be a comics storyline featuring the movie's villain to tie-in.

ASM vol. 3 featured an Electro/Black Cat story in the months where a movie featuring Electro and the first on-screen Felicia Hardy appearance, just as they did the "No Turning Back" story when TASM1 came out.

Yeah, the comics have been imitating the movies for a while now to try and boost sales. The movies don't do the same.

Because the writers/producers/director wanted Peter to have a best friend. He's not really been written with a best friend in modern comics and I'm sure they didn't want to reuse Harry Osborn after him being featured in 4/5 movies.

They took a tertiary character in Ned Leeds and infused him with Ganke's personality. It's not my favorite choice, but it works.

If they were into matching modern comics, Peter would be Miles OR he'd be the millionaire head of his own company and Clash would be making an appearance.

Maybe we'll get an Alpha cameo. :o

Didn't the X-Men just have a major Apocalypse story conveniently around the time of their movie this past summer? And that's not even an MCU film.

Did you guys know that Zendaya is playing someone?

If they wanted to give Peter a non-white best friend who could also be a science whiz and didn't involve altering a character, they could've used Hobie Brown.

I wouldnt say that. Logan conveniently is inspired by the Old Man Logan story arc not long after the character is brought into mainline MU. X-men 3 also drew heavily from The Gifted storyline which had just wrapped up in the books

Maybe. But she might just be somebody.

Naa the leaked pictures totally make it look like she's someone, maybe.

Although it's a stupid deviation from the comics. I don't care how she got the maybe; why can't she have it from the start? Marvel don't care, that's why. #BackToSony

Gee, really? Hadn't heard she'd be involved. :o

Oh, please, then fanboys would be all up in arms about him never being friendly with Hobie.

If anything, they could have gone with Randy Robertson.

But I don't think any of this matters all that much... We're getting Ned. A Ned that is a lot like Ganke, but isn't Ganke (except that he is lol).

Well of course the movies draw from older storylines, that's how they came into existence in the first place.

He's saying the movies influence current comics more than current comics storylines influence the movies.

Yeah, that would've worked to.

Those werent merely older storylines I mentioned. It was stuff that had just happened in the books just as or during production of the films. X-men 3 especially could have just focused on the Dark Phoenix Saga story from the 70s but they were definitely influenced by Whedon's storyline in 2004-2005 when they threw in the cure plotline in the film. They even used Kavita Rao, whom he created for it

Not a movie but Agents of SHIELD has been doing the same with the Inhumans stuff that is currently playing out in the books and has for years
