The studio is set to announce its plans for future DC movies in the next month. For now, though, it is focused on releasing four comic-book films in the next three years, including a third Batman film, a new film reintroducing Superman, and two movies focusing on other DC Comics characters.

We all knew it was coming, just hoping Nolan is onboard.

Yeah, this won't make me excited 'till Nolan's involvement is 'pretty much confirmed.'

A third Batman was confirmed when TDK broke the opening weekend record.

The only issue is getting Nolan to come back.

Unfortunately I can't provide sources due to the huge amount of DK related reading I've done lately. But I definitely read an interview with Christian Bale stating he was signed up for three Batman movies. In another interview he also stated he would only work with Nolan on Batman movies.

I also read that they were to re-cast for the Joker for the third episode before Heath's sudden death. Heath had said previously that he had no intention of playing a character twice, preferring to move onto new things. However I wonder whether he would have re-negotiated seeing as he enjoyed being the Joker so much.

Personally I think that if Heath hadn't died Joker would have had a significant part to play in Batman's redemption, possibly with Batters breaking Joker's neck a la DK Returns and realising he's crossed a line, hangs up his Batcape for ever, withdraw camera, fade to black .......

That's invalid. I heard, straight from Ledger's mouth during an interview, that if they were to ask him, he'd gladly come back.

It's not invalid, it's a statement of fact. They were going to re-cast for the Joker character. And it's a statement of fact that he never considered playing a character twice. The interview I read may was obviously previous to the one you read. Doesn't make it invalid, just old.

Whoever they get for Joker is in a very tough position.

That's not going to be easy at all.

The thing is, he never said something like that and pretty much every Ledger interview has been posted here. In addition, in every interview of his he stated how much fun he was having or had with the role.

I'm guessing Green Lantern and Flash are the other two.

uhhhh ummmmmmm errrrrrrr

no.

sorry but we have read every word typed about heath ledger and the joker 'round these parts.

link or it never happened.

welcome to the hype.

^^I just vomitted a little bit in my mouth^

Don't you love that burning after taste?

Oh and IMO Nolan will be out if WB tries to force Nolan to do a superhero tie in for a JLA movie. I don't see WB doing that because they aren't that type of studio... but I can definitely see WB wanting to unrealistic elements added so that the world may very well coincide with other heros.

as for that ign article i say nolan returns or they give alphonso a shot. fincher would be my third choice but i dont see that happening. i dont think he would do it.

It's safe to say Nolan will come back cause they'll pay him a lot and well...we're all ****es.

No...having a story that needs to be told, seeing a worthwhile filmmaking challenge in telling said story and having that story be a sufficient continuation of the Batman characters is what will dictate whether or not Nolan will return.

There's obviously a story that can be told and it can be a great next step for this particular series of films...it's now up to Nolan and Co. to put the story together in a way that excites Nolan enough that he wants to do it.

First of all... they were never going to re-cast The Joker. Heath Ledger said he would be more than happy to come back. And it was even said that he had been contracted for two films. yep yep. Second of all.... I agree that the moment when TDK hit theatres and became a huge success, a third movie was greenlit and confirmed right away with the executives at WB. Third... Nolan will not come back just for money. It will only be if he feels like there is a truly good story to tell. He is a visionary, not a money collector.

I think the 3rd movie has been confirmed from the minute it made more money than Christ.
