Hello, I dont normally post in this forum. I'm more of an X-Men fan and my knowledge of G.I.Joe isnt too great but i know story development and structure...
Now i had great reserves for watching G.I.Joe firstly i didnt really know the franchise... being from the UK we didnt really have G.I.Joe's think we just had Action Man or something. Second thing i had reservations about was the Trailer for this movie... Now as i said before im not a huge fan but the trailer is supposed to hook you in to the movie... It didnt, infact the sole reason i went to go see this movie is because im a huge fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and hearing he was being cast as the Cobra Commander... I just wanted to know how? excellent choice but puzzled me especially when there was no pictures of him in the trailer or online photos. The third reservation was the power suits from the trailer... i saw the toys just didnt make sense.
Anyway, i saw the movie and loved it... Rex as The Doctor then Cobra Commander... Genius! But there was one small problem with this movie...
The ending was far to complex and left one hell of an open thread for a sequel...
Nobody knew Star Wars was going to be a hit infact if you were to only ever watch the first movie... if it flopped and they never made anymore. It kind of makes sense as that movie was complete. Although Darth Vader lives, that was just a small open thread to if they made a sequel...
The whole bases of the G.I.Joe movie is that it ends by being unresolved. Zartan is the president, although the Cobra Commander and Destro are imprisioned, Baroness is in the process of being cured... Plus we have no idea what happend to Dr.Mindbender... It's not a complete movie!
If G.I.Joe was to end there...! the only thing we can think of is that Ana and Duke start a prison relationship, Rex has councilling. Destro is re-habilitated and become the presenter of the Oscar awards. Zartan lives the rest of his life as an old man but also as the president...
So there is only one conclusion...
This movie is a trilogy, and was written with that in mind. I think that they have already written G.I.JOE 2 and 3.
The whole overall plan has been worked out, and i have a theory on it...
Think of this, Tomax and Xamot, Serpentor, Dr.Mindbender, Stalker, Shipwreck... Some characters that havent been written in yet.
What if the whole G.I.JOE Saga was about world control. Think the new trilogy of star wars, the sith start of as just two then end up with a clone army and control of the galaxy... But think of this as G.I.JOE
The first movie saw the creation of The Cobra Commander, being imprisioned may have been part of his plan.
What if, Cobra's mission was to create a CLONE abidiant army? Commander when he was The Doctor with Dr.Mindbender was in the process of creating Clone Soldiers... The first stage was Control, which is seen in the first movie, Nanobytes create total mind control over soldiers selected from around the world. Note that although The Doctor learnt of nanobytes from Dr.Mindbender, he was actually absent from the entire movie other than a flashback.
Now as we know M.A.R.S worked side by side with the goverment creating weapons. Only the G.I.JOES know there true agenda so going to prove what they were doing is going to be difficult becauses Zartan is president, infact at most Zartan could hold them responsible for an attack on the M.A.R.S corporation that lead to those missles being launched in the first movie and thus making them all outlaws. But not only this Zartan as president could invoke technology that has yet to be fully exceptable in doing...Cloning. With Zartan as President he authorises M.A.R.S coporation to start a Cloning programe to help there cause if such a threat happens again and they need soldiers to help them... Much like in "Attack Of The Clones" - This project is all Dr.Mindbenders, This would make a great introduction to Tomax and Xamot... how i would explain it is Tomax became the template for the first clone, the clone then fully grown is Xamot, as although it's a phsyical exact clone of Tomax, there personality is very different. This would be most of what the second movie should be about, The G.I.Joes on the run, Dr.Mindbender is cloning soldiers, Tomax and Xamot are tested, May want to bring in Stalker as the agent in charge of tracking the G.I.Joes down who have gone into somewhat hidding infact they are on Shipwrecks submarine... By the end of the movie, Cobra Commander and Destro are freed and return to Cobra Command, they now have an army of clone soldiers, the world realises how terrible the Cobra Command is, but are powerless, The G.I.Joes are the worlds last hope. so it ends on a down note but we then have a perfect set up for the third.
We can now explain Serpentor... one of those clones isnt controlable instead is able to control the others, and otherthrows the Cobra Commander as control of the Cobra Command. And the change of command is the key that allows the G.I.JOES to win and shatter the Cobra Command ten fold...
However im in too minds about something, say Ana becomes the baroness again. Either we have Ana side with her brother and there conflict is resolved. Or Cobra Command turns good at the end of the third movie and using the technology the G.I.JOES has is able to return back to his old self of Rex Lewis which he is still imprioned but finds some kind of resolution for his own conflict. (In very much the same way of Darth Vader by the end of Return of the Jedi)
So overall what do you think?
