This show was just not well thought out

Cajun Spice was okay. I just hated the fact that he had to be with Rogue (barf). As much as I love TAS Gambit, I have to say that right now WATXM Gambit is taking a slight lead. I absolutely love the character when he's a self-interested and crooked swindler. :D
Katie, I think you're the 2nd fan I've met who disdains Gambit being with Rogue. Out of curiosity, why do you dislike this pairing?

I can't speak for Katie, but a lot of fans are very unhappy how the couple has been written in the comics (me included). The only time they seem to function as a normal couple instead of behaving like they are some couple out of a daytime soap with the emotional maturity of a 14 year old over the last 13+ years was during their X-Treme X-Men run. Now most of us would like them to break up on a permanent basis and for Gambit to leave the X Men and do something on his own (the X Men haven't been too kind to him either in the comics).

I like them in animation, because we don't have to deal with all the crap and baggage writers have been shoving down our throats in the comics. When it works, they're a great couple and much more fun to watch than most of the other X couples.

I actually like the idea of Rogue and Gambit as a couple. I just hate the angst. But even more than the angst, I hate the fact that everyone feels the need to jam them together instead of exploring them as separate characters. That's all, really.

He left the X-Men post-Horseman days, and that didn't treat him too well either. My view is that if Gambit being around means he might have to be paired with Rogue, then so be it. It's better than no Gambit at all, or even worse, an evil Gambit who has an agenda to be a double agent when it's decided the X-Men fans miss him.

I'd rather have no Gambit than have a poorly-written one.

I'm with you, Squidboy. BTW, he's back with the X Men these days (in the comics, that is). My main problem with this Gambit was that he was too much a 2 dimensional villain. At least in Evo, we got hints along the way that Gambit had alterior motives or noble ones at that for hooking up with Magneto. In Cajun Spice I really liked that they showed him as morally superior to Rogue. He was willing to save his father, in spite of Jean-Luc's treatment of him, as opposed to Rogue, who brutally "killed" her mother. I'm sure if we had a season 2, we would have gotten a better picture of Gambit's motivation and "true" nature.

I just saw some mini-sodes and character spots for the new Avengers series, and I have to say, they look pretty good. And that is from someone who never really liked the Avengers. Having Chris Yost writing helps, and it's definitely not kiddie stuff, at least on the violence side of things. So, I wonder which X Men will pop up on that show? The Bruce Banner they showed was the same (at least in look and voice acting) from the one in Hulk vs. and WATXM, plus with Yost on board, ten bucks is on Wolverine making an appearance (yes, again...), maybe some other X Force members as well.

Would it be too much to hope for Deadpool to take on the Hulk again? Just rewatched Hulk vs. Wolverine, and Deadpool stole the whole show. Damn you Marvel for taking the chance to see him in season 2!!!!!

The micro-eps have been good so far. Odds are Wolverine probably will be the one to pop up on Avengers, probably so they can stage another lame G-rated Hulk/Wolverine fight.

I wouldn't be against seeing Deadpool again. I'm sure Nolan North would be more than happy to reprise the part.

I read an interview that said they'll be throwing in just about all the popular characters in some shape or form, so Wolverine is very likely. Deadpool would just be the icing on the cake.

Really? That's good news! I hope they post episodes online somewhere. Disney XD won't show it on this side of the Atlantic for at least another year...

Oh great, like we don't get enough Wolverien as it is. :whatever:

Hey, we can take our X Men where we can get them :oldrazz: ! Marvel being a bit unfair with our mutants these days... Iron Man is featuring in no less than 3 animated series currently, most of the Avengers appear in SHS in some shape or form, Spiderman has/will have a series, but what about the X Men???? Nada, except for his holiness Wolverine in SHS, with possible guest appearances in A:EMH. Yeah, I know the anime is in the works, but until I actually see it, I won't count it in.

So, which X characters will appear in A:EMH, other than the obvious, Wolverine. My guess will be Storm, because of Black Panther's role in the show. Any other X Men with ties to the Avengers or Avenger characters?

Storm needs the exposure a lot more than Wolverine does. Beast, Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver also seem like suspects for cameos. I doubt they'd be willing to do a classic Avengers line up meets classic 5/1960s era X-Men (Cyclops, Beast, Jean, Angel & Iceman), as fun as that would be.

Ohhhh, that would be cool!!!!! Well, they had the O5 team up (though not technically as the original members) in Evo season 3, so who knows? In WATXM they kept in continuity and had the O5 as the O5, and it seems that this cartoon will be set in the same animated universe from what I've seen so far (I could be wrong, of course). Magneto will most likely pop his head in if they use his kids in an episode (like in SHS). Have any other X villains have history with the Avengers? I don't have time to call my brother-in-law, the family expert in all things Avengers, to find out.

I'm quite enjoying the microsodes-they're pretty good. Loads of well known characters from the MU showing up, and I am really enjoying their Tony Stark (still not 100% sold on their Nick Fury yet).

X Men Watch:

Wolverine appears on micro-episode 14 where he is on a mission in WW2 with Cap America. Sounds like Steve Blum is voicing him, and his character design looks almost identical to WATXM.

Here's hoping for more X Men appearances!!!

Well this seems to be kind of a general X-Men talk thread now so I hope you all enjoy this fan trailer (which I had nothing to do with BTW) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gMluhBvTH4 Amazing how well Michael Biehn's voice matches the Cyclops character design (ah, great castings that never happened).

TAS had balls. Pilot episode - Wolverine punches Cyclops in the stomach. Morph dies. First season is intense, serialized, and dark. Then it jumps the shark with the Phoenix Saga. It's dated, very '90s, and has lots of one-liners. But I'll take TAS over Evo, and WATXM.

Evo, and WATXM are too close to the movies (Magneto, Wolverine, Prof X.) WATXM is too convoluted with the 'fight the future' plot, and Evo cashes in on the younger demographic. The characterizations, and art don't have a spot on the Jim Lee portrayals. Even though it was marketed as a kids' cartoon, TAS had adult problems, situations, and the most important part of the X-Men - dissent. They're all flawed individuals. WATXM barely grazed the broodish angst TAS perfected.

Why would people have wanted to see this show continue anyway when it sucked? The main problems I had with it was the way they overexposed Wolverine and took too many aspects from the movie verse and from Evolution. When are we gonna get an x-men show that will focus on every character equally and stay in it's own continuity? This is the start of a new decade. It's time to move on!

The best animated series was the 90s version by Fox....Now if W&TXM had been done by Fox???

I'll take episodes like "Orphan's End" and "Juggernaut Returns" over "Breakdown" and "Code of Conduct" any day, the former because I actually felt for Cyclops in "Orphan's End" and the latter because, well, it's infinitely more entertaining than watching the X-Men get punked by ninjas.
I know! Like WTF was that?

I've actually been going over the series again now that I have it on DVD. The Wolverine-centric episodes really detract from the general narrative arch of the show. It's like you finally get interested in the story only to be yanked out of it so that Wolverine can "fight" the Hulk, ninjas, save young women from their brainwashed fathers, etc.

Haha thats funny, broodish angst is that why we had crappy episodes like the Christmas Morlock one and the Jubilee fairytale stuff.Even if this show lasted a 100 ep you won't find crappy episodes like that on this show. This is by far the most mature show Marvel has done

There's no forgiving that Morlock Christmas one, but Jubilee's Fairy Tale Theater was an adaptation of a Kitty Pryde story, but with Jubilee instead.

There has yet to be a completely fantastic X-Men series. 90s comes close but is marred by consistently bad animation, some poor vocal work and lazy writing. Seriously, if I had a dollar for every time Jean tried to do something with her powers, got overwhelmed yelled out "SCOTT!" then fainted, I would be a millionaire. And Prof. X looked and sounded a little drag queen-ish. But it treated characters like Magneto in a very multidimensional way, and didn't focus solely on say Wolverine throughout its run. It gave equal(ish) time to every member. And it didn't pander to a child audience.

X-Men Evolution took too long to get interesting. And I hated the general concept. Some really awful voice actors, but consistently well done animation. For me, it was too safe, bland and kid friendly. So, there you have it.

And Wolverine and the X-Men shared similar flaws and positives as the other two. Beautiful animation, some great voice work, but storylines that were all over the place. I'm with everyone else on the "WTF? Ninjas?" thing. And why do we have to focus so much on Wolverine lately? I get it, the movie's made him a big icon with the general audience, but I've never really cared for him. Storm, Colossus, Beast, Kitty Pryde and Forge kinda got the shaft on this one, and they're some of my favorite characters. But Marrow, another one I really enjoy, was really well-done. And so was Emma, a character I have a love-hate thing with.

I own the entire 90s run on DVD, and I've pondered getting WATX, but I don't know. I would have loved to have seen a second season and see if many of these problems would have gotten smoothed out or tweaked. Who knows.

TAS defined visually and audibly what the Xmen were supposed to sound like.

that voice is the ONLY animate wolverine voice i accept.
TAS gave us Apocalypse and he sounded to me EXACTLY what i felt he should sound like.
Gambit and Rogue were also characters who voices were pretty much live out of the comic book for me.

WATXM never did it for me. It was nice to see a few OTHER characters. It was NICE how in the intro the racial/mutant thing happened, but after that i grew tired and i do not like having wolverine as a leader. Never have never will.

EVO was decent for what it was. I was mildly entertained when they introduced my favorite mutant team The New Mutants, and finally brought in Apocalypse.

I agree that we've yet to have a completely fantastic X-Men series. I can't decide how exactly to rank the series but I definitely prefer the X-Men TAS and WATXM over X-Men Evolution.

WATXM and X men Evo =Fantastic x men series

X men tas started well but then it turned into star wars for some reason also the baddies were a joke on the show Jubilee could take down the Sentinals,The Brotherhood were a bigger joke,I'll take the MRD over the rip-off FOH.I could go on
