Goblin should be like this:

I've said this many times and I agree to this day. Make him a goblin from Ultimate, but human-size and with purple attire.

If it came down to the choice between Goblin being some sort of physical transformation or a direct translation of the Goblin suit as he first appeared in the comics, I'd go with the Goblin suit (despite not liking it that much). I think the physical transformation is too much of a betrayal of the character.

This is not bad, one of the better interpretations of the Goblin costume, but I'm not sure I'd want a direct translation of that. As goofy as the Raimi Goblin suit was, it made sense in the film's own fiction. Though I wouldn't mind seeing a sort of adaptation of this look, but given a more militaristic feel (loose the handbag though). I think maybe I'd like to see them use some kind of mask that allows for facial expressions and not the 'flight helmet' the Raimi Goblin suit had.

Though I think the Raimi glider in the first film was great (why they couldn't have used that for SM3, I don't know), but I'd like to see a future TASM film try their hand at a new design, hopefully one as good as the Raimi glider.

Here's a controversial idea: how about neither?

I said this in the thread over on the sequels board. I honestly wouldn't object to Norman Osborn showing up as the overall Big Bad of this series but the Green Goblin being absent. In recent years I've found that Norman Osborn himself has grown into a superior villain than his green-masked alter ego. The Green Goblin tormented Spider-Man. Norman Osborn was a threat to The Avengers!

That's an interesting idea. Marvel comics seemed to raise Norman up in the villain threat level area in recent years and he's no longer solely a Spider-man villain (though that's not without it's disadvantages). Though as much as I'd like to see Norman Osborn as Iron Patriot or in charge of HAMMER etc, I think most of that would only work if Spidey was part of the MCU and they were gearing towards Civil War or some other event.

I think the only way Norman could remain a villain in TASM without Goblin is as a corrupt businessman, but that seems to be taking the 'super' out of 'super villain'.

I liked the original Green Goblin design for Raimi's 2002 Spider-Man movie. Looks creepy in a medieval way.

It's not bad, arguably better than what we got, but I'm not sure it would have fit in the movie.

On a side note, if you use the cheat to get the Alex Ross Spider-man costume in the game, GG turns up in that outfit.

I never read the comic but the physical thing seems weird to me.

I think it should be a physical transformation. They could even have it where Osborn uses a serum similar to what transformed Connors, making himself green and "goblin" looking.

I wouldn't mind having his eyes and teeth turn a little yellow, but I don't want his skin to turn green

I'd want his skin to turn green but have a textured look to it. Not just normal green skin.

The poll is not even close lol. A costume Goblin is much better.

*People complained about Venom being too scrawny: They made the lizard huge and bulky
*People complain about Lizard not having a snout: Green Goblin will have a snout :awesome:

You know, I'm inclined to think both a physical transformation and a costume would be good.

I agree, I find absolutely no good reason for him to transform instead of having a suit. There are so many bad things about him transforming if you ask me.

Him transforming would be one of the biggest disappointments in any comic book movie imo. That's way worse than his suit in SM1, or Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer, or Galactus being a huge cloud etc.

A proper costume, something gruesome, grotesque with a mask that inspires both terror and madness! But definetly not a transformation! And certainly not a cheesy cartoon-ish costume like in Raimi's movie!

I like that idea too!
But I wouldn't cast out the Green Gobline entirely..

What if Norman keeps on his normal business attire.?.. maybe with some tears and holes here and there.. and then just puts on a goblin mask he found somewhere...

I'm talking about a similar style to what they went for with Scarecrow in Nolan's flms.

What do you think?

I wouldn't even be opposed if he paints his face green like Joker in TDK as long as the makeup is fantastic. Have him wear yellow goggles for when he flies and a creepy costume.

What I don't want is Ultimate Goblin. I will not go see a movie with that POS. I don't know how but Bendis ruined so many villains. Anything but Hulk Goblin.

I would. Have you read Seige? He painted his face in that, it was stupid. I think it would be nice to see a Goblin mask that was put together like the Red Skull's mask was where you can still recognise the actor's features and clearly see their emotions through their face.

People said the same thing about Joker not being permawhite. It could work, I would have to see it before I shunned it. I will not see Hulk Goblin...I shun that.

That's like comparing apples and oranges. Joker's look was merely a variation on the same thing. Painting Norman's face green is a big change from an actual Goblin-like mask. Plus I just don't see it looking good because it doesn't fit the character.

I honestly prefer suit up Goblin but I wouldnt hate a transformation...probably not a great idea to have 2 villains turn into green monsters in a row though...so suit up in this series.

No it's not apples and oranges. It is a visual variation on their comic counterpart. Joker also had scars on his mouth and not a freakishly inhumanly large smile. Which is more comic accurate: Batman 89 Joker or TDK Joker? Now, which looked better?

If done good, I think it would be fine. The directors want the actors faces out as much as possible. Helmets and masks don't allow that so the villains and heroes de-mask all the time.

Now...I think a latex mask with cgi enhancements could look good. Just a mask...I think it would look fake. Even the Raimi mask reject doesn't look all that great as game and comic interpretations that I have seen. As much as I love GG...he needs major improvements for the screen. Dude wears a purple onesie.
