The Amazing Spider-Man This time should the Green Goblin physically transform or suit up in costume?

Costume or physical transformation?

What if they went with a more hobgoblin-ish version, no green skin, and just called him "the Goblin"??

this way they'd differentiate from Raimis movie and wouldn't repeat having a green villain again.

nah, I really wanna see a proper Green Goblin this time

I prefer the costume than a physical transformation. I want to see a better adaptation for the mainstream Green Goblin. "Hulk-Goblin" can be saved for the next reboot.

I'd like to see the costume again. I think that making a better costume won't be so difficult, but I'm a bit worried about who they're gonna choose as Norman Osborn. Willem Dafoe was great, IMHO.

Yeah. The only way I'd be okay with a transforming Goblin is if they keep him small and leaner. I wouldn't mind a more organic looking costume though.

Genetic alteration is apart of the world that they're establishing already with the Lizard and Spidey. It shouldn't be unexpected if they choose to go a similar route with Goblin. Since the movie is a mixture of 616 and Ultimate they might do the same for GG; making his appearance and personality 616 while his transformations are ultimate.

But how the frack does a man turn into a goblin? Goblin DNA?

Lizard DNA serum turning a man into a Lizard man. Ok...sounds reasonable.

A genetically/radiated spider bite giving a kid spider like abilities. Ok again. Sounds reasonable.

A serum to enhance strength, stamina, intelligence, etc. turning a man into a literal green goblin? WTFsssss!?

You're taking this too literally. It would be an "enhanced" form of the Lizard's serum, which is why GG's skin would turn green and textured, his teeth sharp, his ears pointed, and his eyes yellow.

Who the HELL is saying they want the Hulk-Goblin?

There are a few candidates I would hopefully like to see as the new Norman Osborn and helm the Green Goblin, if given the chance. :yay:

Bryan Cranston (he would make a more iconic Gordon, but the man's a natural born talent for... anything)

Jason Isaacs

Sharlto Copley

Kevin Spacey (Lex Luther was just the wrong kind of evil for him; bring him back to Se7en and The Usual Suspects, and we have our man. Once again, another god given talent)

Bryan Cranston is pretty much my favourite actor, I'd be very happy to see him as Norman Osborn. Or any character in a comic book film, really.

How about Stephen Dillane, who plays Stannis Baratheon in Game of Thrones?

I don't know what to think about it, it's hard to grasp the idea from the way you've drawn it. No offence

None taken, lol like I said that was really 5 min sketch, drawings really not my forte, especially quick sketches lol. The concept honestly looked much better in my head....it's hard to get it down on paper....maybe after Monday when I've finished uni and got more time I'll have a proper go at a few concepts.

I found it very random that a businessman would dress up as a green goblin and fly around on a glider (where would he even get the inspiration for that?). Him physically transforming into a vicious monster, is a lot more believable. Also a lot more visually impressive and symbolic.

What if they made him like Menace, where he transforms at will?

personally i prefer the costume as it's to me, a very big part of who he is, he isn't just this transformed beast, he's the one who chooses to put on that mask, it's his will. There's something very creepy about that, which I don't think can be conveyed nearly as well if he transforms.

Agreed. I badly wanted to see him return as the Green Goblin and not just a cameo inside Harry's unstable mind.

Costume all the way. He does get stronger, but it's more a transformation of the mind.

Lizards don't have pointy ears and lizards look nothing like Goblins. It's just silly to me that a serum of any kind, even a lizard serum, turns a guy into a literal Goblin. It makes no sense. 616 Goblin > Ultimate Goblin

Okay, I won't argue when it's obvious that our opinions will continue to differ.

I'm totally against Goblin transforming. It has nothing to do with not being 616 accurate. I just find that it totally diminishes his character. It isn't about what the Goblin looks like, how big or strong he his. The Goblin is terrifying for his mind and for me personally, making him have to transform into the Goblin takes something away from that.

See...that is pretty creepy and juts looks like contacts and green face paint with pointy ears that could be built into his hat.

If they wanted to do a mask and make him high tech...I like some of the designs for SM1 that were scrapped. The high tech stuff makes it seem a bit more functional than a guy just throwing on a mask because he likes Goblins for whatever reason. I have always seen Goblin as high tech with all of his gadgets and different bombs built into his glider. I did love the SM1 glider design though. I hope they make the glider look awesome as well.

Yeah that high tech design is pretty cool. It's a shame they scrapped it. My only complaint is that the ears look a little too big.

So some of you would rather they go with that horrible high-tech design? Jesus Christ.
